With such a perfect voice, I've never understood why Lani Hall hasn't become more of a star. When I listen to Madonna after hearing Lani Hall, Madonna sounds like a cat being strangled. But Madonna has dedicated her entire life to being famous, and perhaps Lani had other priorities.
Please. Lani sounds like a wounded goat in this song. Her pitch is off in so many parts its ridiculous. And, tbh she really isn't all that pretty here either. I don't understand how she managed to get a Bond song.....one I've never ever heard until recently. Madonna may not be the best singer in the world, but she beats this chick 10 to 1.
i really wasn't paying attention to the video at first when I was listening! I heard her voice first, I thought Streisand! but wasn't Streisand! lol! she has a beautiful voice!
With all due respect to the late, great Phyllis Hyman who recorded this theme first for the film (which was not used), I think the right decision was made to go with Ms. Hall's version. It's so silky smooth and haunting. Ms. Hall and her amazing husband Herb Alpert (he's playing trumpet in the extended version) really conjured an otherworldly ambiance with this delicious rendition.
Very lovely lady with a beautiful voice of all times , Lani Hall was discovered by Sergio Mendes in her native city of Chicago , Sergio invited to her join in his new group They known as Brasil 66, she flew to Los Angeles , and became a lead vocalist and she already accepted his offer, Sergio mendes and Brasil 66 was very popular in the middle of the 60s he recorded more than thirty five albums , one of my favorite band in the 60 s until now I'm still fan of the Brasil 66 , I've bought some CD as my collection
Easily one of the best 007 themes, shame they didn't make this one of the official ones with a proper intro with this song. This song and the movie was highly underrated
It's not included in the canon of songs because this film wasn't a Broccoli/Saltzman production. The rights to this story were bought by someone else (if I remember the story correctly). Connery hated those guys and broke with them and decided to do this film instead of the official film. It was a very contentious time for the original Bond filmmakers.
Underated or not, it was a damn REMAKE ! (of "Thunderball) but they pretended that it was a fresh Bond rendition, and made it to compete with "Octopussy" the same year (1983). I hate that mentality !.
The songs you mentioned are bombastic mediocrity. Lani has enough emotion in her voice to convey the spirit of the song. Mccartney was always a bad singer. Each to his own?🤷

No woman ever looked sexier in a tux than Lani Hall. Wonderful voice; her performance was perfect.
Not even Gladys Knight?
Love the early 80's Love Boat/Manhattan Transfer/Pina Colada Song vibe of this song. I feel like I'm checking into a Club Med, circa 1983.
This song and Liscence to Kill song are the best James Bong songs
Lovely, lovely voice.
Ms. Hall has a terrific voice and style here
i really wasn't paying attention to the video at first when I was listening! I heard her voice first, I thought Streisand! but wasn't Streisand! lol! she has a beautiful voice!
This was it baby 💌🎵🎶🌹 your messages started coming in straightforward and clearly 🇺🇸🎵🎶💙💛🙏💚🔜

My love I love you 💙 good morning Love
Well 💙 night for me with you on my mind 💛🌷
Do you remember my love 💙💛🌹me looking at you deeply like there's no tomorrow 👀👀💎💎🌹
Love the melody and the vocals.
Great Bond song!
Thanks for that Insight ❤
@@MrJameseoyou're very welcome!
Interesting composition. Very eighties!
Sergio discovered Lani .... in a bar down the street in CHicago.
Lani sang a Bond tune!!
She was the ONE to do it!!
Lani Hill Gran cantante Bonita canción . Precioso vídeo ❤
She's gorgeous.
Radical movie and song great voice and looks Never say Never again......
I don't care what anyone else says, I like this song.
Her voice is so legendary, from Brasil 66 to solo. Love you Lani and Herb Alpert. ❤❤
Possibly one of the great all time Bond themes.
really .. Ever heard of GOldfinger ? Live and let die ? From russia with love ... and of course the James BOnd Dr No theme !
I agree
The songs you mentioned are bombastic mediocrity.
Lani has enough emotion in her voice to convey the spirit of the song. Mccartney was always a bad singer.
Each to his own?🤷
the spy who loved me
octopussy
the living daylight
goldeneye
tomorrow never dies
casino royale
skyfall
and of course at her majesty's secret service
amazing themes
Underrated song and movie. This came out a little before Octopussy.
Strangely, those I know who don't like the Bond franchise actually enjoy this movie.
This is what I call a true Bond theme.
Beautiful ❤️ and this Song Sounds Greater 🏆than ever before I love it and that Orchestra is amazing 🏆👍
Rest in Peace Legend
I LIKE SEAN CONNERY HE IS MY FAVORITE ACTOR😎👍💚🌟💯
Say what you want about this movie, but I personally like it a lot. This theme is only one of the reasons for that. It's one of my favorite Bond themes ever.

Never Say Never Again 1983 *** 7 October 1983 *** 7 October 2023 *** 40 years! It's a very good James Bond film! And I absolutely love-love-love Sean Connery in this movie!
Lani Hall has an exceptional voice.
Awesome voice
I know. I have trouble sleeping and she is my hero, as all I have to do is listen to her voice and I can sleep for a full 8 hours straight.
Kult von ehrlichen ..., mann sieht ihr die Überzeugung wie vielen anderan auch nicht an!
Stunningly beautiful ☺
***** Great performer too.
+Philip Brocklehurst she was great with Sergio Mendes too.
***** Great composer he is too.
+Luke Donnelly This song and way of how she is singing this song is probably a bit inspired by Corrine Hermes' song Si la vie est cadeau from Luxembourg
@@albogyu1 Cool
FANTASTIC PICTURE, ONE OF THE BEST
I love the songs of the 80's
83
Outstanding, and an outstanding Bond Movie.

I knew this song existed even when it wasn’t on the Complete Bond album!!
PRECIOSA VOZ❤❤❤
I don’t know about you but I love this bond song
Sean Connery is the bond that saved us from nuclear war
+Jordan Brochu twice (sort of, no pun intended)
+James Hauptli
How is that a pun?
Roger Moore did as well.
@@Bauglir100 probably because of "You Only Live Twice"
Twice
forever the best Bond you will be missed ..happy we have your movies!!
Beautiful theme song, gives me 80's vibes, just watched the movie a few days ago, this was released in the same year as octopussy, love the theme from for your eyes only too by Sheena
YES! Lani & Herb are still very happily married, And they continue to be amazing. Dan, no offense, but do your research first.
I like Herb Alpert"s voice.
I am glad, they are very happily married.
"Offense", is the American Spelling.I
assume, that you are American.
I just found out about Lani Hall. After alll these years.....Herb Alpert was always one of my favorites. How Lani got by me I'll never know. I just heard' come what may 'and I didn't know that she sang 'never say never again'. Now I know and I'm mad at myself. I'm a big fan of Burt Bachrach, Herb Alpert and Sergio Mendez.
my favs` 1.- The spy who loved me 2.- Live it and let die 3.- For your eyes only......
Rest In Peace Sir Sean Connery.
My favorite #231 song of all time!! RIP Sean Connery 🙏
What a beautiful voice. Soothing perfection with sexy, feminine passion.
Oh Lani you are so wonderful!!!! I love you agape!! Jim
