The thing I love most about the Nexus is watching HD videos on the 4.65 inch screen. I was just viewing this video from my Galaxy Nexus and the quality is outstanding. One drawback is the sound quality when viewing UA-cam videos, it sounds a bit distorted and not loud enough.
I wish Samsung would remake this phone with the same design, add a bigger screen of 5.2-5.5, much louder speaker, same camera as the Note 4, and a 3000 mAh battery.
Thats pretty cool what Google is doing. I'm really tempted to buy one just to have it and maybe switch back and forth with my iPhone. Well...of course till the new iPhone comes out.
Just because there is more pixels on the Nexus display doesn't mean the PPI is higher. The iPhone still has a higher pixel density of 326PPI vs the Nexus 316 PPI.
same with me, i'm saving up for this phone. Its a good phone especially mixed with tmobile's $30 no contract plan. It's either between this or the samsung galaxy blaze
Not necessarily, 720p is a higher pixel count but because its on a larger screen it lowers the ppi. Ex. two 1080p HDTVs, one 55" & the other 46". The 46" has a higher ppi due to the smaller screen. You said your eye cant distinguish pixels from one another with a ppi higher than 296 which is true from a certain distance. But if you held the screen closer to your eyes then you can distinguish the pixels. So the iPhone screen would be the same as the nexus if not better because the ppi is higher.
You're right about the exaggeration of the colors on the amoled screen. The Galaxy Nexus color saturation is high, but no where near as high as the Galaxy S2. I prefer to watch videos on the iPhone because the colors on the screen are way more accurate. I hope the next iPhone comes with a 4-4.3 inch screen with a curve design like the iPad and iPod Touch and keep the same iOS look. I love iOS the way it is and I know it's boring for most, but not for me.
Since the release of the original iPhone in 2007, he's been using all released generations of the iPhone. He's a man that loves Apple, just like I, @TheAppleStuffChannel, do.
Yeah a new one will be released in late december just before the holidays, thing is it's only a small upgrade from this Nexus so it isn't worth paying twice as much for it. Just get this old one.
@MrClaysta The Nexus 7 has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM. It costs £159/$199 for 8GB and £199/$249 for 16GB and there's rumour of a 32GB model replacing the 16GB model at £199/$249.
I'm thinking of upgrading my iPhone 4S to the nexus with jelly bean, do you think that is a good upgrade? Also the Nexus is very cheap here in the UK at the moment.
no differences. Hardware is the same. Specs- same too. One difference is that 5g model's stock OS is iOS 5, and 4g's stock OS is iOS 4. But you can easily update it.
Thanks. I'm going to use T-Mobile's prepaid 30 plan. 100 minutes (i don't talk at all lol) unlimited text and 5 GB or 4G data (afterwards it becomes 3g). I can't wait for my Galaxy Nexus.
Looking back, having a chin was completely pointless when the buttons were onscreen anyway. We could have lived without the LED notification light taking up all that space.
Correct me if I am wrong.. HSPA+ means 4G.. Not 3G.. So This Phone is a 4G phone NOT a 3G... And the price is now 349$ in google store which is an awesome price..
Great review as always! I wonder what you think about super amoled plus that is on samsung galaxy 2 vs iphone 4S... I understand super amoled plus use more sub-pixels and therefore clearer display
dude my Defy with a single core is running CM10.1 with android 4.1.2... yeah this should run the latest android just fine, just note google wont be pushing the 4.4 Kitkat to this phone... I'm hoping to get a cm version with 4.4 on it... hoping........ I'm getting this phone soon... ordered it already
@DetroitBORG - I want to buy this phone unlocked for T-mobile. But I here that there are a lot problems with it because it wasn't meant to be on T-mobile's network. Could you tell me whether or not you have had any problems with your phone?
i would wait another 5 months, fifth gen iPod Touch is going to be a lot better than the current one. probably bigger screen and A5(X) processor, so if you can, wait untill september.
Its funny in regards to the appearance of the phones in my opinion I've always thought that the Samsung looks better than the iPhone. My friends have the iphone and I always think it looks cheaper but as I said thats my opinion. I guess the way it looks is not super important when you consider what our cellphones were like 15 years ago haha.
my first nexus phone, back in year I was very excited when got this great phone
Watching this in 2019 :)
Thumbs up for who's watching this 9 years later!
Just orderd mine in white , cant wait
"very black very dark very deep looks very sharp"
Nostalgic

galaxy note 3 looks pretty similar.
+Bob Le note 5
Note 7
***** I would just go with the note 9
Great phone.
I bought it for € 338,-
Rooted, and i'm running now a custom rom called "Codename Android"
All this together makes it a perfect phone :)
I have a GS2 that I'm in love with.... But the more I see this phone the more I want it!!
One more thing. It is an HSPA+ device like iPhone 4S. If iPhone 4S can call (or show) 4G symbol then this can also be called a 4G device.
This phone does work with Tmobile's HSPA+. On the playstore it clearly states it supports 1700 and 2100 bands which falls under Tmobile's bands.
Thats pretty cool what Google is doing. I'm really tempted to buy one just to have it and maybe switch back and forth with my iPhone. Well...of course till the new iPhone comes out.

He is in Love with coldplay for sure :P

same with me, i'm saving up for this phone. Its a good phone especially mixed with tmobile's $30 no contract plan. It's either between this or the samsung galaxy blaze
just wondering, did you ever get it
I have a Nexus S from 2010 (still using it in 2018) and I am craving this phone
So slooooooooooow 512mb ram & single core😅
OMG Mike! I'm dying with the Safari thing... next time you review an iOS device don't forget to show the awesome features of Chrome.
Nice catch on Safari! Great job (as usual)!
say if I want to get this phone with a t-mobile sim card, it won't access t-mobile's 4G? it'll just access the 3G?
Watching this in 2020 :)

Hello, thanks for this video. What camera do you use to record?
My favourite android phone of all time
Nice and good review and comparison Mike. Good to see you investigating competitive Apple products this way.
Who is watching this in 2019 ?
Me
What kind of operating system do you prefer? Do you mostly use an android device or ios device?
It's also possible to find for $140 with 4.3 for those with small wallets!
Yeah a new one will be released in late december just before the holidays, thing is it's only a small upgrade from this Nexus so it isn't worth paying twice as much for it. Just get this old one.
Watching this on my Note 9
so, this is your first android phone?

Great phone just got it 👍
I used to be an iPhone 4s user!! Now I've sold for the galaxy nexus!! The best decision of my life!! :)
Budget wise, I'm getting a second hang Galaxy Nexus for Simple Mobile (T-Mobile mvno) Unlimited talk text and 4g hspa+ will be nice. Can't wait
same here...can't wait for what the next iPhone has to offer...I just want a bigger screen!!!
113k views on a Borg video... my how you've grown
Do you buy all your stuff or is it review models? Please answer!
When are we going to get the home theater tour?
Because the Nexus is 4.65" rather than 3.5", the iPhone still has slightly higher ppi.
Its kinda funny how that usb wall adapter looks exactly like the Apple one...just black & that little ridge.
I'm thinking of upgrading my iPhone 4S to the nexus with jelly bean, do you think that is a good upgrade? Also the Nexus is very cheap here in the UK at the moment.
Yes. White iTouch is just white 4g (with iOS 5)
no differences. Hardware is the same. Specs- same too. One difference is that 5g model's stock OS is iOS 5, and 4g's stock OS is iOS 4. But you can easily update it.
good review detroitborg. i have everything apple but this phone looks cool. hope you do an S3 review!
just a tip you should update your description as Google has dropped the phone price to 349
thanks for the unboxing now i can make sure if i want to buy it or not
siri is a novelty at best, you can do so much more with an android phone not to mention that android has a voice control system similar to siri
He also bought an Android tablet a while back too.
Man, that's a wicked looking knife
i suggest you should buy the new Samsung Galaxy S III. It has awesome features. It will release in June
what OS do you like the most?
Thanks. I'm going to use T-Mobile's prepaid 30 plan. 100 minutes (i don't talk at all lol) unlimited text and 5 GB or 4G data (afterwards it becomes 3g). I can't wait for my Galaxy Nexus.
Yeah I think I'm going to get the nexus 4, It improves upon all of the things I didn't like about the Gnex!
Looking back, having a chin was completely pointless when the buttons were onscreen anyway. We could have lived without the LED notification light taking up all that space.
That's actually not true. The Nexus can get AT&T's HSPA+ network, which is 4g. It may not be LTE but it's 4g.
The back cover looks..... very think and easy to break?
Nexus no question
grab em fast might be off the play store after new nexus is announced
No, with T-Mobile it called 4g also and can u review the samsung galaxy s3 when it comes out and where's the review of the galaxy nexus???
For a purely multimedia device I'd say go for the Nexus 7 rather than the GNexus.
@detroitborg are you getting a purple tint on your screen when brightness is low?
thumbs up for DetroitBORG!
price & processor comparison? thanks btw
So will you be able to pop a sprint sim in there and switch between phones? Also, does it take micro sim?
Keep up the good reviews really like it :)
No, its not compatible with Verizon's CDMA network, as opposed to at and t's gsm network.
So you don't have to pay any money to the carrier except for a plan? Please reply
First android with HD screen
Yup! Amazing price right?
How much is it??
Go for the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 4 if you can.
Correct me if I am wrong.. HSPA+ means 4G.. Not 3G.. So This Phone is a 4G phone NOT a 3G... And the price is now 349$ in google store which is an awesome price..

@MrClaysta Whereas the Galaxy Nexus is a 1.2GHz dual-core, 1GB RAM. Not 100% sure on price but a quick Google search gives me £400 off contract.
Thank you :)
Probably the most important phone in history of Android
If you don't have a data plan, can you still use this phone? I live on campus and have wifi access everywhere I go.
The iPhone PPI is only slightly better. 326 vs 316. Which is definitely not distinguishable at any range of the eye.
I don't think it's on max brightness on the Galaxy Nexus. Stock android devices usually have it around 3/4 brightness.
kool because always wanted you to do that and make more people see ur stuff.
He didn't say it was old, he said it's AS old as the iphone 4s=They were realesed at the same time
this guy knows what he is saying. all google phones are overpirced and made just to test the latest anroid versions.
I have a question is the Samsung Galaxy S2 a good phone on t-moblie?
even detroitborg is getting tired of the same ol iphone, myself included. if the 5 isnt redesigned im sure the S3 will be my next purchase.
@DetroitBORG - I want to buy this phone unlocked for T-mobile. But I here that there are a lot problems with it because it wasn't meant to be on T-mobile's network. Could you tell me whether or not you have had any problems with your phone?
Which one is your daily driver?
Can you do an unboxing and a review over the "Jawbone Jambox"?
Can you make a video that you compare the windows phone, android phone and Iphone?
I like amoled because of true blacks, if LCD had them then it would be perfect.
what do you do for a full time job?
i would wait another 5 months, fifth gen iPod Touch is going to be a lot better than the current one. probably bigger screen and A5(X) processor, so if you can, wait untill september.
I don't know wht phone I should buy the glxy nexus , the LG optimus L9 , the Sony Xperia S or the Huawei Ascend g600.
What do you I should buy?
Its funny in regards to the appearance of the phones in my opinion I've always thought that the Samsung looks better than the iPhone. My friends have the iphone and I always think it looks cheaper but as I said thats my opinion. I guess the way it looks is not super important when you consider what our cellphones were like 15 years ago haha.
samsung is better.
yeah, if you want to you could do that.
Behind the LED Flash is an Android icon ^^
yes :D i used it 3 days... sold.. now i have galaxy s 3
I am an Apple fan but I am SERIOUSLY considering this phone.
