I spent 400 quid on a habitation and mechanical check on a second hand motorhome . Best 400 quid I've ever spent . Saved me buying a 25k lemon full of damp on the back end . Well worth the money 💰
like others I think this has been hired out - we have always taken care of our motorhomes, at the end of the day, its our biggest asset after the family home - the last one we sold to a big dealership that travelled to see it, did the damp test and gave us what we were asking, also apologised for not taking his shoes off on the prisitine carpet, as he left a mark on it ;-) belated birthday greetings
A different but Honest appraisal about motorhomes. It reminds us all, that it's good business to not too chase after bad business. I allways believe when buying a home that you can feel if its a happy loved one or not. The motorhome is your home. The same applies. Great video. The lesson in life sprinkled with some working wisdom. Thank you.
Ignoring this specific van, it is good to see the level of thoroughness involved in your inspection of the vans that you sell. Another argument to use against those people who moan that vans from dealers are more expensive.
Jason you're absolutely 100% right... Glad you're looking out for your customers. :) It's a beautiful van until you start digging, and initially customers might be blinded to the issues, but they'd definitely be angry when they start uncovering them if they'd spent 70k.
Excellent vlog. We are considering getting a used one 6m and under. However, we are concerned about buying a lemon. Keep making videos about what to look for when checking up a motorhome
The pilote did have a problem with the hab step. Also many like our one had a new floor fitted. The mastic in the shower is acrilic based and didn't adhere or flex very well. The I'd media unit is ot fit for purpose and the tablet never works. Condensation is a problem in the garage. We have a 2020 pilote fgj automatic. I re masticed the shower, as said had a new floor fitted ( you would never know) dealer fitted a pioneer head unit and tablet under warrenty. We live in the van fulltime and is as new inside and outside. We looked at many makes, £10000 more expensive, one even had a two inch screw comming through the head lining. Two others, brand new plus £100000 had spongy floors.
A ripping yarn! Cannot understand how your owner would be so careless, but I'm surprised that the damp issues are so extensive. I thought Pilote was one of the better brands,, but I have noticed hat even the German brands are not what they used to be. Looking at the vans at the NEC last October I was shocked by the poor finish on the latest vans - especially coachbuilt models. Lots of sharp edges and tacky cupboards etc.. I bought a 69 plate Murvi Pimento from Murvi six months ago. Absolutely immaculate, and Murvi build quality has not diminished. BTW I would never touch a leaking van with a bargepole. I had one a few years ago and the problem just got worse and worse. I like your no nonsense approach and entertaining style.
I always told my staff, I opened a Double Glazing company, that is a customer finds one thing they will find two, tree or four even though the two, three and four is not a problem and they are seething things that are not there it does not matter you have lost there trust so if ever something does not go right and let’s be fair not all 100% of jobs will go right always always point it out to the customer first and let them know what we will do about it. My best customers with the most recommendations with a customers that had a small problem because we always pointed it out first and sorted it out when they recommended us. They say if it goes wrong they’ll deal with it which is what we did. That motorhome is complete trash. What a shame.
We paid 38k for our van . I lost count of how many we viewed and Car Vertical Checks to boot . Some are hired ,some go backwards ,some leave Copart and many from pri ate seller and stupidly priced . We worked hard for that cash . Finally we found a decent mototorhome . Still belt and braces ,changed timing belt and water pump ,full service ,new hhab check . Still she runs like a dream and has never let us down. Kepp looking and view loads of vans, private sale or dealer ...😊😊😊
FANTASTIC AND WELL DONE SIR. So may dealers say I am selling for someone else so no or 3 month guarantee when a consumer act states, if something goes wrong within six months it is deemed to have been there when you purchased it and therefore should be put right by the dealer anything that is sold on a forecourt, even if not using the companies, paperwork is still guaranteed. I absolutely congratulate you for making that point and it really does show. What a good company you are
Thank you for this well reasoned argument why I should not buy a mobile home or camping van. If ever I decide to try one out, I'll rent one - for the £70,000 notional price I could have at least 40 weeks of holidays without worrying about things going wrong.
95% of this looks like shoddy build quality IMO. Scratchable wood trim in a luggage area, a shower screen hook made of a material harder than the screen itself, water leaks, rubber trim that pops out during use, seat trim that falls off with horrible protruding screws… An outdoor recreational vehicle shouldn’t need to be treated with kid gloves - robustness should be designed in.
I've bought a motorhome like this.....yes it's 21 yrs old and yes it was cheap but it has been so unloved. One day soon I'll have put enough love (and cash!) Into it so it can live again and get me away for a few months! Such a shame how some people treat these vans.
Your a Gods honest Motorhome sales man. When its my turn to buy one, ( which i was very close to doing last year until my car blew a hole in my engine 😢) my eyes will be peeled on your company ❤
For a huge investment, you would’ve thought someone would’ve cherished it I think it’s a case of the more you look the more you’ll find .. I must’ve missed Kevin’s birthday, but belated wishes !!! Unfortunately, I’m not one of your international fans Kev , only down the road in Shrewsbury
I do agree that simple things should be sorted but things like the cooker grommet cost a fortune relatively for one or two wheresas you can buy say 100. The fridge. I had to have a new one fitted and it cost £2700 fitted, a Dometic. ( based on quality and functionality it must have cost £300 to make ).The shelves and door inserts are MADE TO BREAK and Dometic just rob customers and don’t care less about the theft as we have to have a fridge which fits. The part in the old fridge isn’t carried after 10:years so there’s one solution. My 18 month old fridge has cracked door shelves despite me taking care and protecting the corners and the old ones went to the tip but were perfect . Didn’t fit in the new one of course. It has doors which open both ways but guess what? Unnecessary , annoying and will break and constantly open whilst driving and if ajar the alarm is so quiet you don’t hear it. ( it doesn’t turn up). If customers weren’t ripped off we’d be more responsive to criticism. Some of the vans just aren’t worth the money when new as they are crap compared to say a 15 year old van. COVID added £20k to Motorhomes for bugger all so you make your money and can afford to mend these bits more than customers can. I drive a 2007 Rapido 7099F which is fabulous. STILL LOVE THE CHANNEL THOUGH🎉
Yo did get the bit where he was trying to sell it for someone else didn't you? They should have put these things right before even thinking about selling it.
i used to do dry cleaning for a motor home hire company in NZ. The work that they have to put in to keep this rubbish up to standard is massive and costly. They look really good when new, but buyer be ware.
Great Video. Water ingress could have been from the sink, however, it looks like a lemon.. I think a private seller (DIY Enthusiast) will get a bargain, but nowhere near 70k
That was great I can’t believe people would treat their motor home like lt , I check polish and clean mine it was a lot of money and worked all my life to get it ,pride those owners didn’t have any 👏👏👏
It's not just the financial cost though, is it ? My camper is worth about £5000, but I look after her as though she was my child, because I'm proud of all the work and time I've put into her, and she's my 2nd home, which I'd never allow to get into the state of that £70,000 monster. Love your videos.
I hope you guys didn’t fall out on this video because Kevin you make a good team and it’s a shame. Maybe if you want a torch, I can always send you a torch. I know you can buy one but I have quite a few spare if you want one.
The only thing I would run away from is the water ingress I recon it had a hit in the side and this has moved the outer badly panels splitting the sealant all over the place also loosening things. It can never be a nice 70k van again. So yes send it back with a no thank you. Someone will get burned with this and end up with a lemon and a seventy thousand loan to pay off . That’s why you go to trusted dealers and a bit more for a well checked vehicle
the mind boggles as to how people can manage to destroy something that new, are you sure that isn't stolen recovered, even ex hire ones wouldn't be that bad😦😦
Its been hired out for, dunno, £80 a day., for a couple of years or more. The owners have hired it out when they weren't using it I guess, then had a few bad lettings that really damaged the van and are now trying to sell it on. I think knowing the mileage would give the game away. Another good video guys, keep up the good work. BTW are you starting a new show called 'Campers and Cash' ?!!

What a shame it’s in such a state it’s more a restoration project for some one to undertake rather than a 70k van would I buy it not even for a restoration project I would be checking the chassis by the door with the miss matched lino might have had a side impact could explain the damaged step
As a matter of interest, if you got offered this directly from a private seller - how much would you estimate it would take (knowing what you have just found, ignoring what you have not yet found) to put it back to where it should be?
I've got a 2016 swift motorhome, I can say they look nice but they are made so cheap and I would never buy another one, I've had issues with motor step, the dab on radio stop working and the abs light came on that cost me nearly £400 to send if to crash data and had it replaced, stay away from them they are built to fail.
I've just bought a Fiat Ducato 2008 Tec Rotec 662ti imported from Norway to Bulgaria where I live which is in much better condition than this camper ... I guess I got lucky.
good review ona poor ly kept van.. first thing i didnt like about it was the foreign type body (door on the wrong side of van ) even though itsd right hand drive, ( was this a converted left hand drive motor ? it realy just dont look like a 70 grand van even from the outside..... and owners had the cheek to say its excellant, did stevie wonder own this ? the few knocks and scratches in the garage i could put up with and think the makers should of made that area a bit more substantial to take a few knocks and brusises, but again its 70 grand ...
That looks to me like a motor home that has been hired out!

Happy BIRTHDAY KEVIN.😊
Thanks PIppa 😀
Love all your your videos. If you decide on Belgium perhaps think of Ghent and Dinant, two places we would like to visit in the future 😊
Thanks for the tips!👍
Hi Kev. Can I ask you a serious question.
Are Rich Tea the best dunkers?
Not any more, they are a bit thin.
HobNobs are still good.
I don’t think that’s been a private owned one most take pride in their camper-van I think this has been a hire one
👍
Jason your not been pety about the iittle things but its a lot of money .People need to look after their vans..
Very true Pippa 👍
Happy belated birthday big Kev🎉🍻
Thanks Jan 👍
Its not that bad making a meal out of it. Fix everthing for less then a thousand damp can be fixed
😐
Wouldn’t take it on as a gift best place for that scrapyard
😒
Happy birthday Kev, from Kalamazoo Michigan 😀
Thanks David 😀
If that's how people treat Motor-homes, just imagine what their homes are like?
Very true Devonshire! And thanks for watching 😃
The only people loosing out on this are the owners who haven't looked after it, they might be able to afford the loss, invoice them for your coat 🤔
Yes Martin i wasn't happy about the jacket!😒
what a shame that motorhome was in so poor condition I wouldn't touch and you had 20 year old vans in so much better condition
Exactly Jonathan 👍
Just get an old builders van convert it and dump it later no worries?
😀
Looks like the curtains near the table also missing
👍
keV your the straight man he can't get by without you Jason 😂
😂
I've got a 2016 swift motorhome, I can say they look nice but they are made so cheap and I would never buy another one, I've had issues with motor step, the dab on radio stop working and the abs light came on that cost me nearly £400 to send if to crash data and had it replaced, stay away from them they are built to fail.
😐
I've just bought a Fiat Ducato 2008 Tec Rotec 662ti imported from Norway to Bulgaria where I live which is in much better condition than this camper ... I guess I got lucky.
Don’t dealers review the condition of a van before agreeing the trade in value??
Yes Kate thats why we didn't buy it 👍
I bought a new swift caravan and was so many faults swift are a bad company 😢
😐
you should have sung "awning has broken" when you wound it out...
Will do that next time Mark 😂
good review ona poor ly kept van.. first thing i didnt like about it was the foreign type body (door on the wrong side of van ) even though itsd right hand drive, ( was this a converted left hand drive motor ? it realy just dont look like a 70 grand van even from the outside..... and owners had the cheek to say its excellant, did stevie wonder own this ? the few knocks and scratches in the garage i could put up with and think the makers should of made that area a bit more substantial to take a few knocks and brusises, but again its 70 grand ...
A real eye opener. Seventy grand? I don’t think so!
👍
Did you get a card from the King? 🎉 🤘
😃
