- Contact tmosso@thewatchbox.com for pricing and availability; Either I have it, or I can get it! The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mid Size 14790 is a legend. With all of the Gerald Genta design signatures that define the Royal Oak 15202 "Jumbo" and the larger Royal Oak 15400, the Royal Oak 14790 carries the name and style of Audemars Piguet's legendary sports watch.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mid Size 14790 measures 36mm in diameter and wears like a 39mm round watch. Its distinctive stainless steel case, integrated bracelet, and dramatic juxtaposition of shapes and surfaces maintains all the impact of a Royal Oak in a package that's friendly to watch buyers with smaller wrists.
Inside the case beats and Audemars Piguet automatic caliber 2225 based on the Jaeger LeCoultre 889 ultra thin automatic. For most of the Royal Oak 14790's two-decade production run, Jaeger LeCoultre was a partially owned subsidiary and movement partner of Audemars Piguet; even the first Royal Oak 5402 "Jumbo" was power by a JLC movement.
A screw-down crown provides the Royal Oak 14790 with 50-meter water resistance. Superluminova on white gold hour indices and hands ensures that the Royal Oak mid-size is readable after dark. A silver Audemars Piguet "petit tapisserie" cut on a Pantograph device provides the iconic dial hobnail texture that watch collectors expect from a traditional AP Royal Oak.

I love the 14790ST, its terribly underrated. Thin, more subtle in the mid size, and still the legendary RO bracelet. Its my preferred size.
This watch looks so new! The model looks perfect for your wrist. I am a little sick of the oversized trend in recent yr, what a style mistake...I think it’s dying though, thank god! I have the 15450 and works great for my 16.3cm wrist.
The 14790 is with 36mm perfect for your small wrist! i would say much better than the 15450!
Great piece! The white dial is by far my favourite for the RO, it really serves to solidify the sculptural aspect of this timeless classic.
Wow now that's a Royal Oak! I think with the integrated bracelet, the size may be perfect. I love the white dial as well as the reduced thickness. I don't like their Chronographs and their dive watches because I think the watches become too bloated. This is perfect.
Now here is an RO I can get behind. Much more wearable and versatile than the Offshore line.

Wow, I must say, ROs are looking WAY, WAY more elegant and badass in smaller sizes. Even 33 and 34mm cases are just outstanding on a men's wrist. Yes, big models are trendy and flashy, but man, even with bigger wrists - smaller Royal Oaks, just like Cartier Tanks or Sanitises are just too classy to ignore
Not a fan generally of white dials on steel watches with bracelets, but this may be an exception :)
A pleasant exception to the rule!

AP14790ST mk3 will hit the Moon by the end of the year 2022 📈✨👍🏽
Tim, you are walking encyclopedia..! When you started talking about the movement - holy crap! 😄👍
Sweet, even without an exhibition back.
My favorite of the Royal Oaks.
Perfect size 😍
Happy new year, Tim~!!
Looks great. Can I ask how big your wrists are?
My favorite model and dial RO. 🔥
Justin Hill, by far my favourite dial but do you really prefer this one to the 15300, imho the best RO.
six and a third inches sixteen centimeters Without a doubt for me. With RO wearing larger than their actual size, a 36mm case is perfect for me. It’s definitely on my long term buy list. If I couldn’t have one though, I agree with you... I’d take a 15300 over a 15400 or 15202 any day. 👍🏻👍🏻
Which one is better: Patek Aquanaut 5167 or steel sky dweller or other other that are about 20k ?
Jonathan Jordan I like this RO option as well as the VC Overseas. I think at that price point I would want a bracelet. But, the VC does come in rubber or leather options.
Jonathan Jordan, with all due respect I would advise you to not entertain the notion of buying a 20k watch until you can specify your own personal taste more precisely. Those two references are quite different in a number of ways. Although magnificent examples of design and engineering, top quality watches only come alive on the wrist by enhancing and channeling the spirit of their lucky owner.
What's the difference between this and the 15450ST? How much?
Does AP market this toward women?
im pretty sure this is the mens one, most of the womens ones are quartz
37mm is advertised as midsize or unisex. There is a smaller ladies size of the RO.
Maybe the Royal Oak is an acquired taste that I just haven't acquired. This watch does nothing for me.
John Robie, nor does it have to. Understand that no object designed by man owes you it's admiration. AP and Genta owe you nothing. Why focus on things you don't like?
@@sixandathirdinchessixteenc7720 I never said it needed to, and never claimed that AP owed me anything. I never said I was "focused" on it, nor do I feel it's implied by my mostly dispassionate comment. Do you only speak in Straw Man arguments? Relax, I simply stated that I don't particularly like this watch. I do however like this channel, so I watch most of the videos.
John Robie, “this watch does nothing for me” is dispassionate? You put your focus on the watch by viewing and then commenting, in a negative fashion that belies a sense of petulant entitlement, hence my reply.
@@sixandathirdinchessixteenc7720 There's nothing that even resembles entitlement, since I made it clear that I'm not even interested in it. But I also made sure to mitigate the comment, by stating it might possibly be an acquired taste. Who knows, maybe I'll like it one day. You're clearly looking for an argument, since the first three sentences of your reply are straw men. The only way you could justify your response, was to put words in my mouth. Go bark up someone else's tree.
John Robie, no straw men and your not being framed. One day you might like it? The watch world awaits with baited breath the the day John Robie decrees the RO is to his liking.
