This video was made 8 years ago, and in terms of video and audio quality, it puts many modern videos to shame. Quick, informative, crystal clear audio, fantastic video quality. It's no surprise you're the Book Binding Queen! :-) Keep it up. I love your videos. I found your channel after searching on how to make my own "field notes" style notebooks. You really get the creative juju flowing!
For about five years now, I've revisited this tutorial every time I get a new notebook without a pocket. You would think I'd remember it by now without help but I am so glad you have kept this video on YT. It's the best video for an accordian pocket I've seen. Thank you so much!
I bought a dotted journal for 2024 and sadly it didn't have a pocket. I am not skilled at DIY crafts but I decided to try this and the pocket I made is actually good! All thanks to your tutorial! Thank you for this video 🫶🏻
I have been watching your videos for nearly a month now--yes, I'm late to the party. However, it inspired me to make a book for my daughter for her graduation. I am compiling letters from friends, family, teachers, etc in this book and I am attempting to bind it myself using your tutorials. (I have over 65 people contributing letters to this project!) Many people have emailed me their contributions but some have hand-written their letters. I'll scan them so I can format the pages, but I want her to have the original letters also. This pocket idea may be just the ticket! I'm so glad I found this video!
This a total game changer. I have decided against purchasing journals in the past that had no pocket and no elastic to keep it closed. Now that I have found your videos I know how to remedy both! Thank you for making all of this look easy and zen!
I am proud of the book I made with your precious advice! it's my first coptic stich binding book. I finished with this book pocket and it all looks very nice. We never know what we're capable of doing until we do it ! Thank you for the clarity of the videos and the positive energy. Im looking forward to make another book for myself (this one is a birthday present for my boyfriend!) Good luck in your endeavours.
hi sea lemon, just wanna say ' I LOVE YOU' because all of your book videos help me a lot on saving money from buying these expensive books, and also i am able to create the book that i want. Thank you so much again for all your videos. :D LOVE YOU!!!
Watching after 10 years - I made a paper pocket for my journal to keep photos and tickets ✨🥰 This was really easy and simple to follow. My final product was so neat! Fit everything perfectly.
Excellent tutorial / guide. Aside from making a slight modification to the size of the wings, I now have a great book pocket of my own thanks to you. Cheers!
This is the absolute best tutorial for making this pocket =) The only thing I have done differently is added double stick tape then the glue stick. I learned that makes an absolutely lasting bond that will not come off, even with all my fidgeting. Thank you so much! Love your channel. My book covers came out so beautifully using your fuse, glue method, you are the best.
You have amazing talent, Sea Lemon. I am grateful for you tutorials; I've learned a great deal from them. Tonight, I made my first text block and was amazed at how well my work came out. Thank you!
I'm binding my own sketchbook with Bristol paper because I couldn't find any other sketchbook with that paper around and I found that little pocket SO helpful in my last Moleskine sketchbook. I put a watercolor paper sheet in there to sample colors and stickers that I would want to put in or on my sketchbook, super helpful~
My bujo has perforated pages that have come in handy occasionally. I had a little bleed through on a sheet that I was already a little disappointed in so I removed it and made a grid spacing guide and keep it in my back pocket. I wish I had come across this tutorial before I had set up my latest bujo. It didn’t have a back pocket and I definitely wanted an expandable one. While trying to figure out how to make one, I realized I could tear the one in my new bujo out and glue it into the new one. It worked well but I wasted too much time thinking about making a new one. If I had found this tutorial, I could have made one in the time it took me to carefully tear out the old one. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
These books are awesome, i made a couple but designed them for my school projects, so each signature has a double sided notes page, graph pages and sketch page, this is a great addition to mine although mine opens at the top and i store an eraser shield, 6 inch ruler 2small triangles and a small circle template. I bring this everywhere for when i actually have an idea
Everything was okay in my life until I saw this video. Now, all my notebooks has a pocket!! I even put one in my coloring book for paper to draw! Thanks!! You have a traumatized new suscriber!!
Hehe I distinctly remember watching this video when I wanted to make a pocket for my school notebook in 1st year of high school.. It's been so long, yet here I am again.. 3 years after graduating college
This was exactly what I needed! I found a very inexpensive alternative to the Leuchtturm1917 and this is all it was missing. I also liked that I got to pick a color that coordinates with the notebook's cover. Anyway, I color code the edges of my pages with those little round garage sale stickers so I can find notes quickly. I have been keeping them in my pencil case, but it's inconvenient. Now I have a neat little way to keep them handy. Thanks!
I glue my envelope with the opening facing the other way, and then I have a flap to prevent things from falling out. I use hook& loop dots to keep the flap shut. It's easier to get things out without opening my journal all the way 😄 Thanks for sharing your videos!
I keep character sheets for whatever tabletop RPGs I’m currently playing when that journal is in use. Super glad I know how to make one of these properly, my last attempt didn’t end well XD
omg same ........they are really helpful and since i am an art student we have to make covers for our books and separators to keep each term's work ,well separate..... so this has given me a lot of new ideas . i'm subscribed
I put an expanded pocket on my book and it works Realy well Here are some uses for it Extra notes Mail Boarding pass and passport If ur traveling abroad Loved this video
I subscribed to Sea Lemon today... I’ve been looking for a book for Bullet Journal... couldn’t find one to my liking so, I grabbed a art book instead and made do with it... so going to make my own from now on..
Awesome video! I just made my own moleskin using your tutorial and was looking to add the pocket. I like to tape pictures using Washi tape into my journals and wanted a place to store my photos. Thank you!! :) I love making all kinds of journals and am so glad I found your channel!
I always love it when you get the idea, sea lemon ^.^ I'd also like to ask, how do you find the specific size of it to fit in your book? I'd be happy for answers from anyone!
Thank you for your video. I have also made a pocket for my planner and I put stickers inside it. They fit perfectly. I also tried the composition book closure and it also worked really well. Awesome videos. Awesome channel.
Do you know how to make a text block for my own printed book? And also, how to print the book? Would be so helpful! Love your tutorials! Great work! You're awesome!
ahh, yeah i am gonna have to make this, the scheduler i bought for 2015 doesn't have one and it's only a month and half in and i lost so many papers and business cards ahah. thanks for the tutorial, i am sure it will be very easy to follow, as all of your other ones
Thank you! This was really great to find. I bought a cute hardback journal with the elastic strap, but it didn't have a pocket. I was easily able to add one. =)
Wow, Sea Lemon!! This was exactly what I was looking for.. so, thanks so much. Question... could you make a folder book out of those little expandable pockets? I want to make something like that with a chip board cover so, that I can store some vintage photographs that I am collecting. I would like to create a bunch of these pockets, glue them together and then to a chip board cover and back cover.. do you think it's possible? Thanks!!
That's a great idea! I'm a student and can use such pockets in my textbooks to keep notes about that subject. Else I end up losing the notes if I just leave them loose inside the textbook. :/
shopping journal with the pocket used for coupons I need. I write down in the journal where and what something is priced and that way I know exactly where to get the most for my money when I go grocery shopping. I save fuel by doing my errands in a straight line with the farthest being the first and working my way back home picking up what I need and having my handy journal of where I need to stop according to my grocery list.
can I use these pockets for every page in the book? I need to make a timeline for my art history class and I had an idea to add a pocket for every image documentation I do. I would love ur opinion
Hi, thanks for sharing those videos. I would like to know where I can shop Pu Leather, also I would like to know how to stamp letters in gold and sketch up some wire design as well on the book front cover
