Creatureless Narset deck is extremely satisfying. Voltronning her up when she's already got hexproof and gets equipments and enchantments into play for free i so nice. Slap vigilance (and deathtouch with her first strike if you can) on her and you've got a great blocker too.
I've built Anafenza that stretches in a bunch of directions, +1/+1 counters, a bit of reanimator, a little proliferate with a dash of infect and Pod as a cherry on top. Hell, I tossed Emmara Tandris in the hopes of making some frigging unstoppable Voice tokens. Sidisi is so much fun, my version isn't completely zombie based, but have some choice ones in Diregraf Captain, Death Baron, Lich Lord of Unx (unx unx, wub wub wub), Undead Alchemist, and Gravespawn Sovereign. Dredge components along with some auto reset(Ulamog and Gaea's Blessing). My personal accomplishment with it is casting Villainous Wealth 4 times in one game, being able to get it back with an opponent's Eternal Witness. Surrak didn't turn out too exciting for me, started out with URG goodstuff, broke it down to focus on the two previously mentioned. Might come back to it later. Gotta make a Narset Superfriends deck.
I've built both Anafenza and Zurgo. Anafenza was a bit tricky. I've tried to built a +1/+1 counter deck and it was horrible. When I was almost giving up the deck, came to me a idea to built a tokens and Constellation deck, usig her as a support commander to give devotion to the gods and exile creatures in opponent's graveyard. It is awesome now and I love it! About the Zurgo deck, I've built a smashy deck, but not a Voltron one. I hate Voltrons, it depends too much of your commander and it makes the deck vulnerable. My Zurgo deck has a some little creatures to pressure the opponent fast and then start smashing with bigger creatures. It is beautiful to see Aurelia and Zurgo together!
My friend has a Sidisi deck. It's a pretty interesting strategy, actually. Sidisi's zombies end up mattering, plus, when you consider she's the colors of Brawn and Wonder... When my friend told me he didn't have an extractor demon in the deck, I literally just took one out of my binder and threw it at him. It's never been bad yet.
Worth noting, even though I know it was just a passing gag, is that Grenzo's ability is totally unaffected by Anafenza. Because her ability replaces where the card goes directly without it ever entering the graveyard or changing zones, the exiled creature card is still the same object and Grenzo can still find it and put it onto the battlefield.
I think you missed something w/ Narset. If you cram token generators in a commander deck w/ planeswalkers and wipes because, well tokens, and nice burn for her prowess, Narset can stomp really hard, drop a sac outlet for direct damage, and burn them out the rest. I think Narset can be really adaptive for commander.
My favorite way to play Narset is power gain. I think the Prowess mechanic is built for a PG deck because you get extra power bonuses for playing power gain spells. You can cheat in PG Auras like Angelic Destiny, enchantments like Levitation and instants like Flying Crane Technique plus creatures like Charmbreaker Devils. Its absolutely hilarious to swing for 28 unblockable CD on a hexproof creature (which I have done)
Heres how the battle goes. Zurgo goes around the huge mountain peak. His army behind him screaming in pain in the harsh snow. Zurgo is just pissed that his army would let him down in this situation. He screams from a tall rock, as he sees over his army, "WHY must we do this? For victory, for family, for those that have fallen, for those who stand, and most importantly... TO EAT!" They all scream with happiness as their new rejoiced blood rushes through them, as the cold then becomes but air in their face. Meanwhile, up in the mountains, Suurak is silently cooking a large fish he's caught that day, they smell is somewhat lost in the snow, but gets caught by the bivouac, and as suggested, many people are sitting in there for warmth, and the smell of soon to come food. Then, one of they mystics gets a strange sensation, and she stands up with the claws covering her face clangging like a rattle, walks over to Suurak. They look at each other for a moment, and it didn't take a single word of effort for Suurak to realize what was to come, for talking requires too much energy to live by. He nods and looks towards a couple of his warriors trying to start a fire. Surprised, they look up as Suurak. He points his spear down a distant mountain. It falls silent, only a few moments later they hear the chears of a thousand man army. As Zurgo and his army begin to traverse a somewhat beaten path to get up the mountain, directly above them, huge ogres begin to through gigantic boulders from the peak of the mountain. He smiles, watches as the boulder falls towards him, punches it, and it breaks mid-air. Not to mention the fact that it somewhat scattered among his people. Warriors and horses falling left and right, but Zurgo don't care, Zugro must smash. However, as hasty he was, it was too late. Sliding down the side of the mountain in seeds made of spears, Temur warriors are screaming with rage at the army below. Among the Temur, are some phantasmal animals riding down with the sleders, mainly bears, but a few tigers, and a flying shark. This was thanks to the rattleclaws' powers having a field day. As the temur's sleds land, they take apart said sleds and start charging into the now very wounded army of the Mardu. The fight goes on for hours, but at the soon end, Zurgo spots Suurak, with rage they charge at eachother... Comments section! Finish the Story!
I'm building a Surrak tempo deck that plays like a Wydwen deck. I really like that Surrak has a faster commander damage clock than Wydwen or Vendilion Clique.
Building a Sidisi deck that's just general graveyard shenanigans and...Sultai goodstuff, really. I haven't got quite enough cards to build any super cohesive decks, but I have a lot of goodies in those colors that can at least turn into a fun deck to play. Will probably get a big boost from the Black Commander 2014 deck, so I can grab stuff like Dread Return for some extra oomph.
I've built a Sidisi reanimator deck which is extremely fun and a Zurgo voltron deck and just smashed faces in. Truth be told, my Zurgo deck has generally beat most of the Kaalia decks I've played against but simply repeatedly smashing their faces in faster than they could slow down. 3 turn commander clock is always a good thing.
To people who want to play Sidisi, Blood Tyrant, her effect states: "Whenever one or more creature cards are put into your graveyard from your library, put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield." This means you will only get ONE zombie if you mill more than one creature with a will effect. I found this out and it kinda made me sad, not that she's bad, she's pretty cool and I suggest her if you want some funky self mill, fat dude build.
What about Narset creature-less? Planeswalkers, fun spells to play free, token army, expensive spells that make tokens, and Proteus Staff a token to set your deck and free cast a game winning turn.
Anafenza, human-tribal-mass-reanimation. I play mulch, salvage etc to fill up my graveyard and then cast all those 'fair' mass reanimator spells. Except I'm the only one with dudes in my graveyard, if that plan fails I've got a sweet human tribal deck that can get pretty aggro. ps Mogis's Marauder is a house
A buddy of mine built a narset deck already. 30 lands, 12 mana rocks, 0 creatures, and all the annoying spells and enchants he could fit. I swing casting relentless assault, Time Stretch, sword of Feast and Famine, and just for kicks B.Thievery. Ya he isn't allowed to play that one around us anymore.
All five Mirrodin swords, Sword of Vengeance, Loxodon Warhammer, Batterskull, Godsend, Argentum Armor, and Masterwork of Ingenuity. Now if only Jitte wasn't soooooooooo expensive....
Actually Surrek didn't kill the bear at first ^^ They fought and then they went each their way after an equal battle and it later came and saved his life getting so wounded he had to kill it afterwards ^^
TopAndGoProductions Sounds great! Me and three of my friends each got a different color deck and had some crazy fun with them right out of the box! I got green and I'm in love with the deck. Can't wait to see what you guys recommend as far as upgrades go. I was thinking Garruk, Wildspeaker as another way to overrun your team of elves, even though the deck already runs a copy of overrun.
My heart is RUG, er, I mean, Temur, but I'm struggling to build a Surrak deck because Maelstrom Wanderer (which is a reason). I've built an almost creatureless Narset deck (snapcaster...) which is, well, nasty to say the least. It feels like a non-hasty Wanderer which costs two less. I also feel that Narset is the easiest to build, and I really really wanna smash some helms and crush the skulls within. Soon.
While I was building my Surrak EDH I had a hard time not just making it RUG strong creatures. I decided on a multiplayer theme and have a lot of things in it that buff the whole board (all 3 in-color dictates from journey are in there) and treason effects, clone effects, etc. It's pretty fun to play and does pretty well in my pod. Surrak is just a really open-ended general that falls under the "general supports deck" category, rather than the "deck supports general" category.
Oh and I put was to get extra combat phases.like I remember I won in a 3 player I swung with Zurgo turn three and four at one friend, gave him internal thirst than board whipped five creatures killed Trevor and than extra combat phased Chanler to killer him off
The interesting part is that while you could take care of him with something as simple as an encrust, Zurgo is actually white. That means he has the resources to break free where he would not with only Black and Red. So, failing that... CALL FORTH THE AETHERSPOUT!! OPEN THE CYCLONIC RIFT!! ... ...... ............ Oh. Oh, yeah. *Ahem* *UNLEASH... THE KRAKEN!!!!*
when he attacks is the key and surrak colors have access to spell that can copy or cause him to mitigate damage done by that orc. Voidslime and he is toast.
I would argue that Zurgo's indestructible ability is a mechanical reflection of the flavor that he fearlessly wades into battle and is indomitable. Not that he is literally indestructible.
My opinion of surrak is that, while he is great, he doesn't make a good general. I would want like.....a Maelstrom wanderer, or a riku more than I would a surrak because he doesn't really do much. He would fit into those decks themselves very well, but he doesn't seem like he would be the best stand alone general.
Also, I kinda forgot to mention this: I also dislike Zurgo as well, mainly because, unless they make some sort of REDIC commander, commanders in those colors will inevitably be outshadowed by kaalia. Kaalia does voltron AND gets some big dudes. These dudes being DRAGONS and ANGELS
***** I personally think so as well, but she is boring because she is overused because she is probably one of the most effective commanders and I feel like she embodies the commander spirit in a good way. While she can be super overpowered, she is also super fun for so many as well. Basically her ability is so effective that its hard to make something as good and something as fun to so many people.
All your creatures get trample and they can't be countered. That's a helluva lot more than "nothing" I'd say. Maelstrom Wanderer is in the deck and when I need to be explosive I just fish him out with a tutor, preferably one that can't be countered like Fauna Shaman or Fierce Empath.
***** Not to mention a single tuck spell and you spend the game playing lands until you can hard cast that akroma or rune-scarred demon. So much fun to watch other people play magic because you decided to play a bland 1 dimensional general and got railed for it.
Built a Narset superfriends deck. Full of planeswalkers and extra turn spells. Basically wins when everyone else gets tired.
Great idea. Didn't even think of putting walkers into play with Narset.
Dodo Bird Commander The only thing better than lots of Planeswalkers is free lots of Planeswalkers.
Gameplays by Clonehead Ha!! Touche my friend.
Creatureless Narset deck is extremely satisfying. Voltronning her up when she's already got hexproof and gets equipments and enchantments into play for free i so nice. Slap vigilance (and deathtouch with her first strike if you can) on her and you've got a great blocker too.
Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay!!!!! Anyone else agree?!
I chose to build Narset tokens, and I've had a lot of fun in it.
That's actually a great idea! Do you have a list somewhere online? You know, for some inspiration ;)

I'm excited for you guys to put up a video on the new Commander 2014 decks.

Dredge components along with some auto reset(Ulamog and Gaea's Blessing). Gotta make a Narset Superfriends deck.

Zurgo cannot be destroyed so... Surrak is pretty much ruined I think, unless he comes up with a fancy trick coming from his blue side. =P
You gave Zurgo a stroke? Unexpected =P
Narset is by far the most powerful in her colors. Tons of hate enablers, evasion, extra turns, extra combat and jenk stuff. Easy to swing and win.
Honestly when I saw Zurgo I was like is this guy a secret vampire?
I'm building a Surrak tempo deck that plays like a Wydwen deck. I really like that Surrak has a faster commander damage clock than Wydwen or Vendilion Clique.

I built Zurgo release weekend when I pulled him in my Fat Pack. He is face beaty awesomesauce amazeballz.

vampire zurgo helmsmasher smashing helms for all eternity
I have a Zurgo Voltron/Pillowfort its working pretty fine
A Naga is the Sanskrit and Pāli word for a deity or class of entity or being, taking the form of a very great snake. And it's Sid-i-see.
Narset Voltron Control. The Jeskai way is the only way!
All five Mirrodin swords, Sword of Vengeance, Loxodon Warhammer, Batterskull, Godsend, Argentum Armor, and Masterwork of Ingenuity.
Now if only Jitte wasn't soooooooooo expensive....
built the zurgo commander deck I went with sweepers worldslayer is so nasty with him three turn clock protect him then annihilate
I also want to build Zurgo, I just wish red had more "fight" effects. As god as my witness I will swing with him wearing a Nemesis Mask!
Actually Surrek didn't kill the bear at first ^^ They fought and then they went each their way after an equal battle and it later came and saved his life getting so wounded he had to kill it afterwards ^^
Zurgo + Temur Battle Rage + Volcanic Gayser = GG
I built a Narset deck with big spells, extra attacksteps and extra turns.
If you like to play solitaire this is a deck for you.
surrak can punch bears, but can he punch like 15 foot tall orges?
Now all we need is a sliver planeswalker who's with me that way five color sliver super friends will be complete
Who would win between Zurgo and Surrak? Well that depends.... Whose turn is it? :p
dragonclaw vs helmsmasher...... who's turn is it? : P
So are guys gonna review the new commander set?
We are! We will be releasing videos discussing changes you can do to make the decks a little better as well, all for under $25.
Narset Super Sword Friends!
Surrak, he'll use the blue magic to transform zurgo into a bear and then punch him!
I already built sidisi zombie tribal and its good, let me know if ur interested in the list
Narset is the best in that wedge and it's not even close. She combos by attacking and has hexproof.
For Narset. all those things you said you wouldn't want to exile wouldn't be anywhere near the deck Narset would be commander of in the first place.
Narset Voltron is what I made and it completely outranks Uril voltron in test matches I've done with other voltron generals.
Narset the chaos master
My heart is RUG, er, I mean, Temur, but I'm struggling to build a Surrak deck because Maelstrom Wanderer (which is a reason). I built Narset... and I'm having a hard time making it a friendly commander where only 75% of Her attacks actually kill someone. She's just nuts.
Oh and I put was to get extra combat phases.like I remember I won in a 3 player I swung with Zurgo turn three and four at one friend, gave him internal thirst than board whipped five creatures killed Trevor and than extra combat phased Chanler to killer him off
I created Sydisi. Itt's my Jarod deck but add blue. now I can mill myself and use Lord of Extinction faster.
Could you please cool it on the memes?
Just a touch?
I'm starting to wonder why I subscribed to this channel. I thought it was for 3pic game plays but....
i say zurgo would win as long as he's attacking
The interesting part is that while you could take care of him with something as simple as an encrust, Zurgo is actually white. That means he has the resources to break free where he would not with only Black and Red.
So, failing that...
CALL FORTH THE AETHERSPOUT!!

*UNLEASH... THE KRAKEN!!!!*
when he attacks is the key and surrak colors have access to spell that can copy or cause him to mitigate damage done by that orc. Voidslime and he is toast.
titan1990omega
In that case I utter end your Surrak and we go back to casting our generals for 7.
I would argue that Zurgo's indestructible ability is a mechanical reflection of the flavor that he fearlessly wades into battle and is indomitable. Not that he is literally indestructible.
+RedLexLuthur o shit im sorry
surrak will win for sure xD
zurgo winns cause surrak uses flash on zurgos turn but zurgo is indestructible then
Zurgo wins because he's attacking and indestructible
I swear to God, I'll pistol whip the next guy that says 'shenanigans!'
All of these commanders are facing the right lol
America = only narset... I made a deck alrdy.. its pretty OP
Whoever wins... we lose.
I think, I know why these videos take so much time...they need to find the bazillion memes first of all - rest is done in 2 days.
zurgo has 7 power, think we know who will win. all surrak does is punch bears
Lmao "There are a lot of really good black humans" haha uh yeah
This video took long ago enough -.-
Khans lore must have Zurgo vs Surrak battle or the whole block will suck!
My opinion of surrak is that, while he is great, he doesn't make a good general. I would want like.....a Maelstrom wanderer, or a riku more than I would a surrak because he doesn't really do much. Not to mention a single tuck spell and you spend the game playing lands until you can hard cast that akroma or rune-scarred demon.
So much fun to watch other people play magic because you decided to play a bland 1 dimensional general and got railed for it.
RedLexLuthur ***** It's the worst when the people playing Kaalia actually get mad at you for tucking/killing their general :D
It's pronounced Sih-Dee-C.
