Hello from Warsaw. What a nice video! :) The buildings looked Germanic before ww2, because this part of Poland became a part of Prussia in the 18th c. At the end of the war it was heavily damaged and after 1945, when the Allies moved country borders, it was reconstructed by Polish architects, using old paintings. drawings etc. Since the Middle Ages, Gdansk was the main trade hub in the Kingdom of Poland. In the 14the c. it joined the Hanseatic League, a powerful commercial and defensive confederation of merchant guilds and market towns in Central and Northern Europe, im such countries as Sweden, Latvia, Estonia northern Poland, n. Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium. All those port towns, like Riga, Gdansk, Bruges, had similar architecture. Besides, there were numerous Dutch settlers in the Gdańsk are area, who were brought here to help in "taming" the nearby depressions, build polders and windmills etc.
