I moved from New England big hardwoods to southern Louisiana. Ya wanna talk about night & day hunting! First off it's like they ran the deer though a dyer & shrunk them. There's plenty of deer but these deer have been heavily hunted and extremely spooky. I got the Dixie deer down now though. The learning curve is a fun challenge. 👍🏻🦌🇺🇸

That is crazy all those quads tearing up the woods, that definitely would get frustrating. Them southern folks are some very nice people.
Rick does have that crazy undertaker look too him and for them to find that old cemetery in the middle of nowhere seems kinda weird. Laughing..... Thanks for taking us along for the ride fellas. Be safe out there.

I have had good success on nice bucks in areas that people ride ATVs. I find it has very little hunting pressure because people get so frustrated with the atv activity and don't hunt these areas. The ATVs don't hurt the deer , hunters do and the deer know this and just navigate around the activity. This is a great video showing that deer are very adaptive to what is going on in there area.

Dan, I think you're one of, if not thee best at teaching how there is failure along the way, as one closes in on a good buck. Many battles are lost but intel is gained and if you stick to it and keep zeroing in, you'll win the war. One small complaint, some of us like me are hard at hearing, please shoot for better sound production in scenes like the warehouse. Thanks and love ya man, Mike from NJ.

I live in north Mississippi where these guys hunt and we hunt some of the same property and yes it’s tough. ATVs hurt our hunting somewhat. Pressure really hurts the hunting. But I have been hunting small over looked pieces for years and have done well.

20 deer per square mile is low density? Lol , I'd feel like I was hunting a deer farm with numbers that high.

I thought PA had a lot of pressure. That looks tough. Those quads would make me crazy. We have designed trails so you can easily hunt around them here.

  • @GoneHuntinbutlerfarmoutdoors

There small cemeteries all in the middle Of no where here in Alabama, the buck doe ratio is like it was here in Alabama. When I was coming up the old timer thought it was a sin to shot a doe even if it was legal doe days. Until I was in my early 20’s did that start changing. And there where no size limits on bucks, there was no limit on bucks per season you could kill 1 buck everyday of season up until just 6 or 8 years ago now we have a 3 buck limit but still 2 of those can be any size only one has to have 4 points on one side. But the doe days have gone to every day of season in a lot of places.

Public lands in some northern states are plagued by mountain bikers and certain states in the south are plagued by ATV's.

I’m from Mississippi and have lived there my whole life only 32 but there is a bunch of public land where four wheelers aren’t allowed at all those areas are a lot less pressured there is a bunch of public in Mississippi some is draw hunts only which are really nice and most dog hunting on public are only on national forest not allowed on wma’s or national wildlife refugee’s

There is plenty to learn if your eyes are open, and your negativity is turned off. The buck was in the over looked area next to the parking lot right under everyone's nose. People need to learn when to trust intel, and to open there eyes to deer in over looked spots. The tactic can be repeated successfully without the intel. Now they can focus on over looked similar areas that create the same situation.

That's rediculous Dan! Never in my life have I experienced something, then applied knowledge of said experience to better my circumstances when new circumstances recognizably similar arose. Those are just the poor souls that have fallen prey to these "forward thinking" and "logical" charletons. Some people I'd liken to voodoo priests actually believe that you can learn from others experiences then apply that to new circumstances recognizably similar to the vicariously experienced circumstances of said others. These voodoo priests also claim it simply takes brain power to achieve this supernatural feat. That's why theres a clear consensus among all of us scholars of the Order Of Willful Ignorance that this is nothing more than wishful, fantastical thinking.
