    Another great content and review of Genie, is amazing that she's still active in her tennis career and as well transitioning to pickleball and her new signature paddle from Versix the Vector XL, I will probably get the blue colorway cause blue and orange are my favorite colors lol, I think the Vector XL will suit those who are transitioning from tennis to pickleball but it can be applied to everyone

    Most tennis players including myself tend to have a natural advantage when playing pickleball as we can adapt and already have the hand eye coordination to be able to transition to pickleball. I'm surprised that Genie never been able to transfer her skills to pickleball just like many other tennis players i know.

    • @wulymammoth
      @wulymammoth Місяць тому +1

      She's a 5.2 DUPR-rated player which is above what most people ever get to and what many aspire to be. When you say, "never", the window you're looking at is pretty small. At the pro level where she's trying to compete, these players are EXTREMELY good. Most people have never played against a 5.0 rated player, let alone a 6.0 and definitely not 7.0. They're different sports. Most tennis players think they're so much better, but you gotta realize that you're only better because there are a lot of non-racket sports players in pickleball at the rec level, so any level of training in a racket sport is going to crush an untrained player. When you get to the highest levels, most of these people are former tennis players, too...

    • @JakeSimmons-r2u
      @JakeSimmons-r2u 8 днів тому

      @@wulymammoth DUPR is not a reliable ranking. If everyone in your area is around 4.0ish, that’s all you’re going to get to. I play in Cali. We have people coming all the time claiming to be 5.0+. They get dummied.
      I saw her live at her first event. She was clueless AF. She clearly didn’t take the opportunity seriously. She knew she was getting a free in a year earlier. Her mixed doubles partner just kept getting balls blasted at him. It was F-ing embarrassing. She would have lost to 3.0’s in the area.
      I can’t believe she has her own paddle. She sucks.

    • @JakeSimmons-r2u

    Such a distraction from the content when the auto focus keeps adjusting. With static interviews maybe go manual focus with a larger focus-stop? 😅

    • @buildingpickleball
      @buildingpickleball  2 місяці тому +3

      This is exactly the comment I needed. Okay got it, I’ll do that next time. Yeah big apologies on that aspect, I tried to switch between cameras to try and make up for it.
      Not sure what caused it because it had auto focus on the human and eyes, focus area: wide. First time this happened during a pod (without an object being in the frame, like during Zane’s pod).
      I haven’t experimented much with manual focus, now I will.

    @t2dev Місяць тому +3

    😮😂🙅🏻🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️She sucked at tennis (compared to the rest of the tour) - prioritizing non-tennis activities, including social media, while all her competitors were training hard. A standout as a junior, when she transitioned into the WTA she couldn't compete with the speed, power, agility against players like Williams, Sharapova, Ivanovic, Bencic, Na, Svitolina, Halep, Wozniacki, Barty. All of whom were training crazy hard. Tennis is a physically demanding and brutal sport. The tour also has only a few weeks of rest. Additionally, there's absolutely no way she could compete against the new crop of elite players Swiatek, Sabalenka, Osaka, Pegula, Navarro, Paolini, Badosa, Zheng, Rybakina et al. They would wipe the floor with her. She was a flash in the pan. She probably won't even win a qualifyer or first round.... She's doing better now since she doesn't have to run as much, the ball pace is slower and the power is less. Also, tour and play conditions are less grueling. Just to have an idea of what she'll be up against on the current tour search "us open doubles tennis highlights". Heck, search singles highlights too!... It's no surprise she "transitioned" to pickleball.
