Why does the newer paddle not have the nanotech face and instead carbon fiber? Seemed like the whole business model was to be different and make a paddle that lasts. Now they are just making what everyone else is? I’m a bit confused.
From what I understand, they wanted to expand their offerings to what the market wants, which at the end of the day is a RCF paddle, but still with their approach. I believe they had a lot of people asking for it. I don’t think they’ll move away from their nanotech, just expand options.
@ I just found it interesting to see most people they sponsor playing with the roadrunner vs their propriety tech. Hopefully they gained more fans with the new RCF paddle and they come back to try out a nanotech option.
Yeah, I was hoping they would expand on what made them diff, maybe they will, who knows. I personally didn’t enjoy the nanotech paddles but obvs a lot of others did/do
He should try the Gearbox Elongated Pro Power paddle for a week or two and then give feedback. since he seems to adapt pretty quick
Yeah he was using that for a while. I’ll keep this in mind for future ones
I have only been playing since March 2024 and have no real problems controlling the 2 Elongated Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddles that I bought. I do not know why people are having problems with this paddle if they are. The paddle is a stiff paddle which makes sense because of the materials used and the foam injected into it. Your elbow takes a lot of the shock when playing with this paddle so I use a tennis elbow arm band while playing. The control of what the paddle does is up to you as you get use to the feel of the paddle. I have never tried the Gearbox Pro Power Ultimate paddle so I cannot comment on that. I currently have 2 Elongated Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddles that I use with different lead tape weights That I use. I wish Gearbox would create and sell a widebody Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddle with the SST core and carbon fiber structure and foam like the Elongated Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddles.

Just started playing 6 months ago. Selkirk Luxx and Power Air (S2) were my first two paddles. I went with the S2 (short handle) to “train” my strokes from tennis to pickleball. About a month ago I replaced those with an Epic Power Air and a 6.0 Black Diamond Infinity. I love the Selkirk but the Black Diamond Infinity is at another level. It is like playing with a paddle that is connected to my brain and hand. All I have to do is play and the 6.0 stays out of the way. Awesome paddle man. Any thoughts on adding to the Infinity series? (Hint: Infinity Ruby).

It’s actually been a while since I hit with it. It, and the shogun, came out while all those gen3’s and other paddles came out so it got lost in my shuffle. I actually just hit w the shogun recently again for more thorough testing and felt really good. I think the fat boy was a little bit softer? Although when I tested it months ago, I didn’t have tungsten on it. About to give it a try this week

Thanks for posting this, I’m actually coming to Austin for FRS Summit in November and was looking for a place to play while I was there besides HCI, which looks like just indoor courts. 3 top local restaurants? BBQ, and Asian food.
last I checked, HCI is also on basketball courts. A bit of a drive from downtown Austin. BBQ: Terry Black's, La bbq, Franklin Asian: 1618 Fusion (very fairly priced), Uchiko (sushi), Oseyo (Korean). 888 is a classic.

a lot of it will depend on experience level. At first glance it won’t seem like a big deal but on paper, the tech they’re working on is a big deal long term. The infinigrit is a significant development imo. Most everyone is going RCF or titanium, etc. while Selkirk has been developing their spray grit. The core is also supposed to be new/different.

So Nadal's 10,000's of strokes were pointless? Maybe it didn't provide him the wisdom to respond expertly to his environment, but I would argue his thousands of strokes gave him the freedom to pay attention to his environment and let his subconscious handle the mechanics- likewise with a machine. But it's just a tool, not a mechanic miracle worker.
