The Ride of the Rohirrim is my favorite moment in the books and my favorite scene in Peter Jackson's trilogy. In fact it's my favorite scene from any movie ever.
Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers, I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight!! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!!!
Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending! Death! Death! Death! Forth Eorlingas!

Even in Arthurian inspired works, that's more Celtic. The Anglo-Saxons were unfortunate enough to be prominent in the dark part of the dark ages, when writing traditions weren't as strong as during the classical era nor the medieval age to come. That's to say we have nothing of them, but more that they were too late to be legends and too early to be consequential history in their own right.

I've recently found your channel and currently binge watching all your videos and loving everyone. Is there any chance of a video on Gondolin or Numenor?
I think my favourite moment of Rohans history, is when Theoden grabs his sword and thereby awakes from his lethargy. I dont see violence as a good way to solve your problems, but this moment can be translated into our lives too. You know, sometimes in life we have to compromise and we accept those things that bother us but we cant change just in that moment. And we get used to this state where we just dont enjoy getting up in the morning anymore until the moment comes when you realize that you got enough and you have to commit your energy to fix all that crap. Theoden had this moment of awakening when he grabbed his old sword and remembered his own strength. Ofcause the moments when Rohirim riders rolling up the flanks of enemy armies are also great.
Love your analysis of Tolkein's work, Yoystan. You seem to have channeled his mind. This is also evident with your final words, which are so insightful. You always either add something of value to the story, or you find hidden value in Tolkein's stories. Keep up the great work - we just love it.

+Marion Baggins I hope all is well, Mellon. The fall of Gondolin is one of my favorites. I would have liked to see the 7 gates and what they looked like, especially the one supposedly made of Mithril. And the part of the broken and alone Hurin, again a fav, crying out to the mountains, not being admitted in, although it led to Gondolins downfall. Until next week, take care. I bet you and I could talk for days about middle earth. What fun!
I'm working on a Rohirrim character for an Adventures of Middle-Earth D&D game and this was super helpful! Thank you! For anyone else wondering, I did a little extra research and the setting of that module takes place in TA 2946 (5 years after the events of the The Hobbit) And Fengel was 76 years old and still king of Rohan until his death in TA 2953 when his son, Thengel, came back from Gondor. Fengel is Théoden's grandfather.
I am currently catching up on all your videos and am enjoying it. I have the LOTR trilogy, The Hobbit, The Children of Hurin and The Silmarillion. I have read the Hobbit and LOTR and am currently half way through The Silmarillion. I enjoy lots of facts and Lore whether its from a book series or from a big game like World of Warcraft for example. More of these videos make me remember more from the books and makes me want to read more. :D
Thank you for this video! Very informative! probably my favorite Rohan moment in history comes from the Two Towers film. At the battle of Helm's deep in the morning when Aragorn and Theoden ride out. When Gandalf appears and Eomer is right behind him and says, "Not alone! Rohirrim! To the King! from that moment to when they go crashing into the Orc army. is so stirring I get goosebumps just thinking about it! Such Loyalty and honor. In the Book when Eomer lays his sword at Theoden's feet after his release from jail just speaks volumes about Eomer and the best of the Rohirrim! Just beautiful!

Thank you very much for this video. I tend to see the Eorlingas as no more then the valliant riders that save Gondor from time to time. But they are a people with a long and rich history that deserves remembering. Fram the dragon slayer, Eorl the Young, Helm Hammerhand, there were kings in Gondor who could claim less greater deeds.
This is well done! I've always liked Eowyn!🥰 Her pride, was to serve her King and Country, to serve her people and fight for those she loved! Théoden Ednew died in battle on the Pelenor Fields, his only son Theodred having predeceased him at the Fords of Isen. Thus ended the second line.
The scenery from the ROTK, in Pelennor Field, was a sight to behold. Theodon calling his horse-lords to ride to their 'death' and 'ruin'.
