- Our three Queens met in Southampton on 9 May 2014 to celebrate Queen Mary 2's 10th Anniversary - here is the moment that they arrived.

At 66 years old and recently enjoyed my first cruise ever {Ovation Of The Seas ] What a joy to see these wonderful ships together. Must have been logistically difficult to make it happen. Many thanks to those responsible.....

QM1 is all the way in Long Beach, California. They all still have their schedules, it wouldn't be logical to go all the way to the West Coast.

But I'd say that out of the 3, Aquitania was definitely the superior running mate

Mary looks like a true ocean liner, while Elizabeth and Victoria look more like cruise ships. I don't know if I'm correct, though.
Dave Glo They're all a million times prettier than your average ship but yea the Queen Mary is by far the most elegant of the three.
Dave Glo The Queen Mary 2 is a Ocean Liner Purpose built for the Transatlantic crossing, while QE and QV are Cruise ships how ever there bows have been reinforced to withstand atlantic crossings when ever they do it
Dave Glo Mary was a multipurpose ship before it was ultimately changed into a luxury ship. All after have been made for luxury since.

I remember popping down to Netley with my cousin who worked on the original Queen Mary, to watch the 3 Queens sail up Southampton Water. It was a beautiful thing to see, and something that will never be forgotten. So glad I found this video.
These are some of the best ships in the world and just seeing them makes me wanna ride on a Cunard Liner again.

I saw Queen Mary 2 arriving in Zeebrugge on friday September 5 in the morning.
It was very misty and the sea was calm. What an awesome sight it was.

We were on the QM2. What a wonderful trip it was.

The QUEEN MARY 2 is the only one of the three that still retains any of the visual cues of a liner whereas QUEENS VICTORIA and ELIZABETH are very much cruise ships. Though they are without doubt luxurious and technical marvels that may be able to fill the liner roles on occasion, to this old Navy sailor the newer ships just don't have the class and elegance of the older generation ships.

You can tell which one is the Ocean Liner, from how far up her life boats are compared to the cruise ships. The Queen Mary 2 is designed to sail the North Atlantic in heavy seas!

I feel like the original Queen Mary should be in Southampton, as it is a Cunard Liner, but I guess that’s like saying that the Titanic and Britannic should be in Belfast, as they are White Star Line ships...

In fact, QM2 docked along side of Queen Mary in her inaugural year in Long Beach.
Naenae Gaming - The AdelanteGuy nope, QM1 was built as a mix of Cunard speed and White Star luxury, a result of the 2 companies merger in 1934 into Cunard-WSL. QM1 was the last connection to the WS, tho.
After that in 1950 Cunard bought WSL entire shares, turn the name back into (just) Cunard, thus dissolve WSL completely. The other Queens are then Cunarders.
I think the first Queen Mary has a dark past. I think that is why is is not in Southampton.
My Queen is docked here in CA our family was on the last passenger trip before she became a troop ship.

That was so beautiful. To bad The Queen Mary 1 couldn't join in. when I go on my cruise I always go a day early and stay aboard The Queen Mary 1 which is now a hotel in Long Beach California.

@@jackson.denzler. Upon retirement, the Queen Mary was up for sale, and was simply purchased by the city of Long Beach at a bargain price. At the time, the financial viability of ocean crossings was considered a thing of the past. The QM is now a popular hotel with restaurants and venues for parties, weddings, and other events. She rests adjacent Carnival cruise lines' dock. I enjoy staying aboard her before my cruises with Carnival. The horn that sounds from QM2 was originally the actual horn from Queen Mary. So, a small bit of QM still lives on aboard QM2.
Bit hard with itineraries, QM2 can't passage Panama and it's unlikely financially viable to have all three off the western coast of the US.

Queen Mary II Looks Like An Ocean Liner From Her rounded stern and her technology while Elizabeth and Victoria look like cruise ships from their backs. Ocean Liners have rounded sterns while cruise ships have usually a flat stern with no deck, like the stern deck is inside the ship rather than the outside
