As a ninere fan, this coach is everything you want. Forget the criticism, it's coming from people who've (mostly) never played. Y'all played the way that got you there. No fear, trust in one another. If I were a lions fan (and I do love the lions) I'd be proud to have him as my coach

As a niners fan, Dan Campbell is the kind of coach you want to play against. Without his going for it on 4th down,we never would have had the chance for that comeback. 31 other coaches would have kicked them field goals and forced us to keep playing catch up. Dan decided to give us a chance to stop them on 4t down instead, and we obliged him by doing our job. Dan is exactly what we want in an opposing coach.
Love Coach Campbell ! As a 49ers fan ...Great Respect to him. He is going to bring the Detroit Lions their 1st Superbowl RING in the next 2-3 years ! No question about it. If he chose to Kick those 2 Field Goals on 4th Down in the 2nd & 3rd Quarter the Lions are probably in the Superbowl tonight. He should have gone with the High % Field Goals at that juncture of the game but if he gets the 1st downs he looks like a genius. Gutsy call, Gusty Coach. Love everything about him. Lions Fans have alot to look forward to in the next few years. Great Team ! Hat's Off to them.

I think his reaction to the loss is just cementing that he’s the right guy. He knows the road is going to get more difficult and that the team needs to seize their opportunities. This isn’t a guy that thinks they’ll just be guaranteed a spot. At the end of the day, the 49ers have more talent defensively, and they have the experience.
And if you’re criticizing the 4th down call, I really don’t want to hear “I really loved that call” when it works. Part of that coaching style is understanding it’s not going to always work. But I think it’s clearly been a net positive.
Their are legitimate times to take points in close games, two times to be exact. It's pretty freakin simple
I just don’t understand it. Most of the time I can see the logic for the fourth down attempt. In that first one, we were on the 28. We just needed points. If we had to have 7, I’d understand. If we needed to take time off the clock, I’d understand. But it wasn’t any of those scenarios, or any scenario that made sense. It seemed more like he was waiting just to do it and the chance was there so he did it. So yeah, with no real benefit to doing it it’s easy to criticize the call. So I’m critical of it.

If I could start a football team and pick my head coach it would be Dan Campbell. As a Dolphin fan since 1970, I was rooting for Dan and the Lions. Dan was our Tight Ends coach and then interim Head Coach. I wanted the Dolphins to keep him. He definitely has the respect of his players and most NFL fans. Great job this season Coach.

There is no guarantee that any team will be back unfortunately.
Truth we beat you in almost every game Stat, but had a few key drops. Difference is we were outcoached, as in no second half adjustments ever and boneheaded decision making by not taking the points.

I saw the game high lights and realized finally how great the Lions are and Coach Campbell is a special guy that led his team, just came up short on points but the Lions fought to the end and can't wait till next season ! I'm gonna be watching the Detroit Lions real close !

The dropped passes on 4th and 3rd down by Reynolds, the dropped interception that resulted in a crazy catch, and a fumble right after a 49ers score are what cost the Lions the game. Not going for it.
100 percent. They had some really bad drops in that game, and some that interception/catch was just rediculous. Luck can certainly play a part in wins and losses n that was one example there. Brutal loss tough pill to swallow
Its all of those things. Not kicking a FG when down 3 halfway through the 4th is also a bad decision, especially when you lose by 3.

Long time 49ers fan from Australian here but what this man has done for the Detroit Lions franchise is the stuff of legend !
Dan Campbell owes his team an apology. Accountability starts and end with him. After halftime the 49ers came out and shocked those boys. Yes there were dropped balls. But he ultimately made the decision to not put six points on the board, that would have changed the outcome of the game. I get it Dan Campbell played aggressive all season, you can say that's what got them here. But it was also the reason why they lost to the cowboys and why they lost tonight. They had the chance to have something they never had.... I'm a Lions fan.

He said that he didn't regret on those two 4th down calls because he wanted to change the momentum to the Lions' side and he trusted his team's offense since they were normally successful on the 4th downs. He said that the Lions were not good enough to win this game. Unbelievable. No wonder he cost the Lions the biggest games in decades.

this dude had to learn the hard way that when you have a lead, you ALWAYS take the points. There's no reason to 'go for it' on 4th down when you're in field goal range with a lead.
HE COST US THE GAME. TO START THE HALF HE COULD'VE JUST MATCHED SF FG AND STAYED UP 17 AND NOT GIVE UP MOMENTUM SO EARLY IN THE SECOND HALF. HIS DECISIONS WERE UNNECESSARY AND IT COST HIS TEAM A SB TRIP. BRAD HOLMES BRINGS IN THE TALENT AND THIS GUY WANTED THE SHINE AND TOOK THE GAME FROM HIS PLAYERS.
Coach Campbell, you made all the right calls. Nobody knows their team better than their Coach. Perfect passes, perfect run plays, all fundamental knowledge if not polished as instinct, such as holding on to the ball, lower stance, eyes on the ball, staying calm, will surface under extreme duress, rendering function errors susceptible to being exploited. And as this premise was solidified and sealed as divine Truth from the creation of man, zero blame for there is no culprit without evolution. Playing conservative is not innate to the nature of a pride of Lions. Coach great job. What is done is done. Trusting expectation manifests instinct. Instinct creates victories. Repetition polishes expectation. All the above develops a cognitive attribute for staying calm under duress resulting in error free precision.
There was some bad decisions. You can only be at fault if you don't learn from them. I hope this is the start of great things to come. Good luck to the lions. They surprised many this year.
