- It's not a typical week in Lake Havasu, AZ. when the huge boating event called Desert Storm rolls into the city! This year the Street Fair was on Thursday with the Poker Run on Friday and the Shootout that started Saturday. By noon Saturday, a monsoon storm rolled in with heavy rain, lightning and thunder cancelling the races until Sunday when they resumed. Within the video you will see some of the fastest boats on the water including a turbine jet boat with a top speed of over 200 MPH!

I’ll be here for the races in a few days this year, a couple questions? I assume the shootout starts at site 6? So they have that whole are no wake zones where I can take a big kayak out there to watch??
Also is it on live radio or anything where they announce it and you can hear the speeds like they do at the lake of the ozarks shootout!! Also have they shortened the course or is it still 1 mile

That’s because that particular boat has turbine engines in it! At 13:15 it shows the cockpit and engines!
When does this event take place
So if I understand this whole reason why you would bring very expensive, powerful, beautiful machines to an annual event to be the first manufacture to break the 200 mph record and be known world-wide and increase the demand for your hull/engine design for the production pleasure boating market. Can anyone please tell me if they Hava-speed limit, Hava-low elevation that is great for making horsepower, Hava-couple more reasons besides the obvious, like Hava shortage of bikini tops. I am only guessing about some of the commenters here is that they don't Hava-clue. But my meds might need adjusting. Hava-good one...

I hate riding on boats or even driving boats. It is a different story if you are wakeboarding and I love my stand up jetskis. Boating just sucks.

Those Offshore boats are so nice fast and bad ass. IN THE OCEAN. You haul those to Havasu Arizona? Get a river boat! Those boats RULE in the ocean jumping swells and smoothing wind shop like a KING. They are boring in Havasu etc.. OR ARE YOU THOSE KIND OF GUYS THE UNCERTAIN GENDER BOIRLS?

I was wondering the same thing, I don't know how anyone can afford this kind of boat not to mention the tricked out rig to haul the thing and all the money it takes to run it. And some of them look really young and I am just wondering where the hell do people get money to afford this.
