It’s a wild realization that in just under 5 years of marriage, we’ve turned 4 houses into a home 🏡 I’m so excited to crowd this house with our friends and family - it’s the memories made that make each house special.
Crazy this came up on my recommendations😂 We lived at Wadsworth Shores for almost 10 years. We could only get on the list for a 2 bedroom with one child, even though i was pregnant with our 2nd.🙄 We rented out in town & finally got a 3 bedroom after our son was born. I loved it there. That baby is now 26 and works at NOB. We're still at the beach, but we're probably moving out of state in the next year or so. It's nostalgic seeing military housing again. Good times.
What an amazing home. Your right home is where my love is. I’ve learnt to make crazy situations into home. So excited to watch you both flourish and enjoy and prosper in your new home. Blessings.
Omg! We move to va beach in 6 weeks. We were told we only qualified for a 2 bedroom and then got a miracle call saying we got a 3! I’m almost positive we will be in an identical unit to yours. I am SOOOO happy to find your page, I’ve been stresssing so bad about the move and where we will be living
@@sjfletcher_ I did live here, it’s what you make of it. I don’t think it’s worth the full BAH but I also know you can’t get something space wise for the same price in surrounding areas
I’d really love a final home tour, I agree with others, this was such a cozy video to watch. Your positive attitude has inspired me to stay positive about our pcs to VB. Thank you !
Thank you so much!! We have really enjoyed VB, so I’m sure you will too! Just make sure to get out and do things. The beach gets crazy during the summer, but is amazing during the off season. If you have base access, go to the beaches on base during the summer! Less crowds. There’s lots of great restaurants in the area. Just be intentional about getting out and you’ll find it has its charm 🫶
I have posted this on several UA-cam channels. I am thinking of moving to Guam from San Antonio. Tx. I live 12 minutes from Lackland AFB. I own a home in a gated guarded community on a golf course. One private and one public course. This home is in a super quiet neighborhood in the county. No city taxes. Looking to swap with someone who owns a home in Guam and wants to swap. I have lived here most of my life and am retired Army..
We like it! We like the area, our part of the neighborhood seems to be super quiet and low key. We’ve had a few minor things happen and maintenance dealt with it quickly! So overall, it’s been a pleasant experience 😊
Love this! 🎉 I’m a veteran spouse, and we create resources for military families. Would be great to connect! Love your work! 🎉 glad the moving worked out!
Omg!! Is that Wadsworth housing? Looks just like it! Man… I miss living in Va Beach! Brings back such good memories!! You’ll love living there. Base housing was awful when we lived there. We lived in the Pelican Watch apartments (after trying base housing for a month) right next to TCC. Have fun setting up your new home!!
Thank you!! We heard mixed reviews about the military housing down here so I was honestly super nervous 😬 Literally all I heard was complaints about every available neighborhood lol BUT we’re really enjoying it so far! I know you said it’s been a while since you lived here, but let me know if you have any recommendations for things to do or places to check out!
@@xomarissalee hi! Thanks for responding! You know, I really don’t remember a lot of places we went although there’s one place but I have no idea what it’s called or where it is. Lol. It’s a pier that has a boat with a restaurant docked and you can eat while the boat drives around on the lake or ocean or whatever it was. Lol. There’s also a lot of shops there. I remember a mini mall. We bought a lottery ticket and won a few dollars. That’s why I remember it. 🤣🤣. If I find the time I’ll try to dig up some pictures of us in Va. Back then we had to take pictures with a camera and get them developed. Computers were just starting to become a thing. We had just bought our first camcorder and we thought we were hot stuff! So, unfortunately pits and rottweilers are banned breeds on military bases. You would have to life in off base housing. There’s also a two dog limit for military housing
Hi! So I’m 19 and my and my boyfriend are getting married before he leaves for basic. We’ll be living on base, and I was wondering how we bring our cars to the base? Or how we get furniture to the base for the house.
For your cars, you just simply drive through the base gate! They’ll scan your id and then let you through 😊 for furniture - it depends. Most companies will deliver straight to your house on base with no problems. Sometimes you’ll just need to meet the delivery driver at the gate!
@@xomarissalee we drive to the base? Cause we’re in Chicago and might be stationed at Texas, so we would kinda do a road trip and drive to the Texas base? Or how did you bring your car and what was the process?
@multifandomfaneditor5554 we are in arkansas and we are going to drive our car to VA. My husband is re enlisting so they are moving us like a pcs. They will load up your stuff and drive it to you. We have a 16 hour road trip ahead next week
Wait I think I misunderstood your question the first time I read it! For your move, you can have the military ship one car to your duty station. We’ve never done that though! We’ve always turned it into a road trip and drove our car ourselves. If you have furniture you want to move with you, you can either have the military move you or move it yourself and they’ll reimburse you. If you get to your new house and buy new furniture, the furniture delivery will either be delivered to your house or the delivery driver will meet you at the base gate!
I was so worried about all the reviews, but honestly our experience has been pleasant. Our neighbors are great, our street is quiet, any issues we’ve had with our house has been handled quickly and efficiently. The houses aren’t anything special, definitely typical military housing. But our experience has been nothing like what the reviews had me expecting!
I remember the movers packing up all our stuff, and of course as life would have it, we were having a family emergency so we had to kind of leave the movers to their own devices. I remember realizing how much they DID NOT pack and we were forced to either throw away, give to relatives or stuff in the car! Thank god we had 2 cars! We had like 4 animals and both were busting at the seams!! Love your channel ❤
So this may be a dumb question but do they provide a place for you to stay or pay for a hotel for you to stay in if they don't have housing available for you when you get to your duty station ?
Not a dumb question at all!! So when you move, the military will give you a temporary lodging allowance that covers about 10-14 (I can’t remember exactly) days of hotel expenses. After that, you’ll need to use your basic housing allowance to cover any lodging expenses!
Great questions!! So the service member can take what’s called ptad (at least that’s what it’s called for the USMC) - I think it’s like 10 days and that gives them the time to get all their personal things in order. However, most families start the search before they even arrive to their new location. Join local Facebook groups and ask for recommendations, look at military housing neighborhoods online, etc. We stayed at a hotel off base because it was an “extended stay” hotel and had a mini kitchenette. We knew we’d be there for at least a couple weeks so we really wanted access to a stove, fridge, etc. From what I’ve seen, hotels on base don’t usually have that!
From what I’ve seen, yes! Some houses are flipped though. Like the kitchen might be on the left side vs the right. But other than that, they’re all identical!
Me and my husband are moving to san onofre 2 in Pendleton, i'm so excited and nervous. Any tips or knowlage you can give about the area or housing there?
That was our very first neighborhood we moved into together!! 😭💕 We LOVED it! And San Clemente is a beautiful town! Be sure to explore the downtown area. We loved Sonny’s for Italian food! Hi! I’m wondering if you can tell me how all the moving works and any and all info you can give me! My husband leaves for boot camp this month and he’s joining the Air Force so I’m just wondering what to expect? We also have 2 kids and animals.
I’ve been wanting to do a dedicated video about this! But just to quickly answer here - when he gets his orders, he should receive info about how to navigate everything. You’ll have two options - having the military move everything for you or doing it yourself and having them reimburse you. Keep all moving related receipts no matter what! Do you have any specific questions I can answer?? When the time comes, you can also message me on Instagram and I can try to help you out with anything you might need 💗
How long does it take to receive BAH when my spouse goes to boot camp? Thank you ! Is there something we need to do if it's not showing up. Worried about paying rent on my own while she is at boot camp!
No, I don’t believe any military housing provides washer and dryers - unless it’s overseas! I know some bases overseas do provide them, but not sure if all.
Yes! They give you so many days worth of a travel allowance and you also still receive your housing allowance. So both of those covered all of our lodging expenses throughout the move!
