I really like these - it was my first camping stove when I started doing more outdoorsy stuff a couple of years ago, I did switch to a more conventional gas stove for a while, but I think I'm now leaning back towards the BCB. The main benefit is how compact / lightweight it is compared to a gas canister and even, say, something compact like a Pocket Rocket or similar. That said I think there's probably a break even point if you're going to need to use it 3 or more times while you're out. Also I found stability is better from the BCB compared to a typical gas stove setup - not much fun when one of those falls over!
Hi! 👋🏻 Thank you very much for clicking on my video and leaving me such an awesome comment 😃🙏🏼🙏🏼 Yes these BCB stoves are fantastic, and I always usually get a full rolling boil in around 5 mins when not in such bad wind, sometimes even less when out on a woodland camp etc. The Firedragon fuel is absolutely superb too, infact I have another video showing a 'special' way of using it in a mini EDC keychain twig stove getting a rolling boil in under 5 mins too! Those gas stoves can be annoying sometimes in comparison, but get yourself some tripod feet for it that just fold out and clip on the bottom of the canister, it wont be going anywhere then even with big pans, ive never had one fall over in over 15 years. I have 12 stoves as ive got issues 😂😂 but love trying and using different ones and only have certain ones I like to use in my vestibule for safety. Thank you once again for your time I really do appreciate it 👍🏻👍🏻 Hope you have a great weekend! ATB... Chris 🤜🏻💚🤛🏻
I've been using one of these little stoves for a few years now. I find that using one of those folding wind-shields around it really improves its performance (as it does with many types of stove). It's not the best performing stove out there but I like it for its simplicity and reliability. I usually light mine with a ferro rod - just drop a spark onto it and it lights easily. Incidentally I've found that if you haven't used up the entire block you can blow the flame out and when it cools the fuel will turn back to a solid which can be re-lit later.
Hi! 👋🏻 Cool that's awesome 👌🏻 I have used this is 'normal weather' and even with a bit of wind and its been sound, got a rolling boil with some of the tablet left as you said. Was just interested in how it performed with a bit of decent wind, probably couldnt tell as much due to the deadcat on my LAV mic but it was a bit blustery like haha. Ive actually got another one of these for a separate pack and got the little 'wind shield' that comes with it to out in the other side, that also worked a treat!! Yeah there are some great stoves, I've got 9 stoves 🙈🤣🤣 you will see a lot of the variations on my wildcamping videos ( ive got stove issues I think lol) but this is a cool little one for sure when used in the right locations etc. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave me an awesome comment 🙏🏼👍🏻😊 ATB... Nice one Chris. I've been using these tablets for a couple of years now and they are great. They also very good for antibacing and cleaning your hands. Great if you cook with raw meat, before you light it just rub it over your hands then cook. I always take them with me.

Nifty little stove that is chris! Our grandson visited after our 10.2 mile hike n he was telling his grandad about these stoves, that you pop a tablet in but we carry 2 amazing APG stoves! Food goes in one n make drink in tother!
Yeah it is awesome and usually can get water to a full rolling boil in under 5 mins (you'll see soon 😉) even enough for food. But this wind didnt help, just wanted to see its performance. Love it though and especially the Firedragon fuel!! Your stoves sound amazing ill have a look.... 👍🏻
I ordered one of these off the back of this review. I used to use these type of stoves way back in the days and forgot all about them. Intend to use it as a back up stove just in case something goes wrong with my gas stove. Cheap as chips and small pack size. Cheers Chris 👍
Hey!! Ahh cool 😎 👌🏻 😃 They are pretty awesome bits of kit, the FireDragon fuel can be used as sanitizer too for if you need to clean your hands or get cuts, so multi use. Chris
I use one of these as well as a gas set up and Trangia set up. Pros are it's light, stove and fuel tabs are cheap as anything , environmentally friendly . Boil time is similar to Trangia and kettle too. Cons - keeping an eye on fuel tablets and be prepared to use more than one . Biggest con I've found is unlike a gas or a Trangia , unless you can find a rock you will need something with you to stand it on. That flame goes everywhere .....
Hi!! Cool thanks glad you enjoyed this short video 😃 I think they would work even better in less wind, but these Fire Dragon tablets can light of a strike of a ferro rod too and can be used as antibacterial hand cleaner if you need to 💪🏼😊👍🏻
Hi mate these aren't the old Hexi cubes that contain chemicals and all sorts of other mad things. These are made by a company called Firedragon, 100% eco friendly, non toxic, waterproof, smoke and soot free so wont taint your pots or food and anti bacterial so can be used as hand sanitiser if you're out in the field and have cuts or have been touching raw meat etc. They boil the water a lot faster than Hexamine (you'll see in an upcoming video) and last longer too. Currently used by the British MOD. This was just a high wind test but they can usually get 500ml of water to a full rolling boil in under 5 minutes. Brilliant, and the BCB stove is awesome 👌🏻 The good old Hexi cubes did have a nice smell though haha these dont have any smell. Many thanks as always for watching 😁😁✌🏼 Chris
Yeah they are pretty decent and loads better with less wind. Good to have a Fire Dragon fuel block with you too especially if you're cooking meat or something as you can also use it as an antibacterial hand cleaner 👌🏻 Thanks for watching 😊
Hey! Thanks for watching 😃🙏🏼 It is really useful and when you're not in these wind speeds you can get a full on rolling boil in about 4 - 5 mins, so MUCH better than the performance in these conditions. Definitely good as a back up anyway but wont beat the speed of a gas stove for sure. Thanks again for your time 🙏🏼😊 ATB... Chris
I've cooked a Full English on my '68 SADF Mil Issue Esbit Folder (a smaller version of the BCB). Here in Switzerland, the solid Esbit Tabs are not widely available and are expensive .. same with the BCB Gel Blocks. Not so liquid Gel Fuel .. 'Sicherheitsbrennpaste'. @@theheightoflife Yeah that’s what I was thinking at the time, and yes that’s true. @@lincslukeadventures3235 Haha yeah im sure if the wind was very little you could get 400ml on a rolling boil off one tab... I reckon 6 would be more than enough! You can hold 3 in it when its folded away so could easily stick a few more in your pack. No worries really happy you enjoyed the little video always 😊 😀 👍🏻👍🏻
Im not sure about the fire alams but Hexamine cubes NOT these Firedragon ones in this video but normal Hexamine cubes I wouldn't light indoors as they realease cyanide and other very harmful chemicals. Ventilated areas only or in your garden. These Firedragon cubes do not release any toxins so you can use them in enclosed spaces. But as you saw they do turn into a liquid and flames will go where the liquid goes so take that into coderation when deciding where to use one.

@@theheightoflife Yeah that’s what I was thinking at the time, and yes that’s true. That’s really good, probably better than the Trangia, sometimes I feel like it takes forever to get a boil on that haha (but I don’t mind)…that’s good and I reckon 6 would be enough for an overnighter 😃…always a good watch mate 👍take care, Luke
Do you know if hexi sets off fire alarms? Just wondering because I have some and want to know for emergencies like if the gas or electric go off.
