Thanks for sharing! One of our area producers experimented with 60 and 30-inch rows this year. We hosted a field day to show the results of cover growth. We are located in Minnesota. Here's a video from the event: ua-cam.com/video/jq3LcbQeYMg/v-deo.html

We plant 3 seeds 6" apart then skip 9 seed cells The next row has the 3 seeds between. This allows 8,000 population to make 70 bu/ac using subsoil moisture without having rain or irrigation. This is notill into last years wheat stubble.

what if you have a history of black nightshade chemical to kill it would kill most cover crops if nightshade makes black cattle eat will kill now if you would spray something little later then seed cover crops how late can you seed these and still get good grazing after you combine maybe if you would chop stalks if you had niteshade it would be spread out and not concentrared any thoughts thanks

He’s talking about weeds which is the theory that they take nutrients from the plants but they are planting cover crops? What do the cover crop derive their nutrients from? Weeds are only plants we do not like, they take very little nutrients from the soil and only thrive when you have poor soil with little or no beneficial microbes and a good biology. It can only be a natural environment when you work with nature and not against it like using weed killers which the cover crops and plants will absorb also

Farmers are saying that 60 inch corn yields about 1/3 less per acre that the shorter variety.

However, if they don't have the expenses of spreading chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer because the soil is being restored through cover crops, their profits will be higher. And what's more important? Yield or profit? Plus, if the corn is organically grown, it brings in more profits, too.

Uh, Bob Recker has 20ish guys reporting from 8 different states giving an aggregate of only 5% decrease. So, whoever you are listening to clearly did it VERY wrong.
