More about this episode: Courage for Life Study of John - Chapter 18
John was an eyewitness to the life, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this Bible study on the Book of John with Ann White, your faith will grow strong as you explore who Jesus is and how His life can reconcile yours to God.
Fully aware and ready to do the Father’s will, Jesus was willing to drink the cup of suffering that John Chapter 18 describes in these final hours before Jesus was crucified. Just as he has described himself, this chapter is a visual picture of Jesus as the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep and protects them from the wolves.
Life Lesson: Jesus gave his life willingly. He knew exactly what he was going to do and he surrendered to the will of the Father. We see him betrayed him, denied and put on trial by people who are out to destroy him - simply because they do not believe.
If Christ willingly gave his life for you and I, do you believe? Are you willing to believe, to not betray him, to not deny him when push comes to shove?
Will you deny Christ when the going gets tough? Or will you stand up in all confidence and share the gospel boldly and willingly to encourage and inspire others to follow Him?
Do you honor Christ as the King of the earthly and eternal kingdom that we are a part of? Will you honor him as the King of your life?

I think Peter denied Jesus 3 times because he was scared for his life. Self preservation kicked in...It's human nature.

That’s how I interpret it as well. And I think Jesus understood the human motivations behind the three denials and absolutely forgave Peter for doing it. It’s such a deep understanding of human limitation and really beautifully written.

Matthew 26:47-49 47 While He was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. A large mob, with swords and clubs, was with him from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 His betrayer had given them a sign: “The One I kiss, He’s the One; arrest Him!” 49 So he went right up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
