Wow man, you did great on the apartment. The price is a little high for Binh Thanh District, but for what you are getting in that fun PVC's neighborhood, you can't beat it. My only worry is the fact that you are coming home to a bars hoping area everyday, and you will be tempted to drink more alcohol than you would want to do for a good balance life style. It would be so easy to just go hang out at the bar everyday when you are a little bored, and to have a few drinks everyday. Drinking everyday could get out of hands for people with an addictive personality. Best of luck with the new apartment.
Fridges should not be closed when powered off. When unplugged it should have a gap to allow air and stop mold from occurring. Then it won't smell. Put a cut lemon in when you start using it.

$230 / mo-- I was paying that in North Berkeley when I went to school at Cal in 1993. And that was a deal back then! My room was just that, a room (decent size bedroom, not huge), shared kitchen and bathroom in the house we all lived in.
I like PVC a lot, prob one of my fav areas in HCMC; but the downside is the buildings are older. You actually found one of the newer buildings. For comparison, I had a 1BR (not studio), 55m^2 in Phu Nhuan on the 8th fl. w balcony for 12.5m for 6 month term b4. I don't know why Viets like those blue/white lights, they are so uncomfortable to the eyes. I also like soft yellow lights.

I say go to Thảo Điền or district. It has one of the highest appreciation communities, and the homes are better than all the properties you are showing in this video. If you like I can share you t top agents in District Two.
What blows my mind is they showed you a room they wanted to off load to you that had a bed that was full of mould! WTF is this common to find rooms where agents show you that is clearly a dump, full,of mould and expect you to say what exactly?

I pay 9 m VND in Phu My Hung in a good location. Less than that and the apartments are a bit rough. Look for one near one of the new subway stations.
