Apparently the master class doesn’t cover opening ranges at all.
The guy was raising every hand, so I of course called him with less than nothing (J4) before the flop.
That's super common logic with new players.
J4 off, bro way to wide of a range!
Agreed; opening range like that is like a VPIP of 80 lol
@@pwned555especially with one caller too lmao
@@pwned555 you dont just call anything because someone is loose
Pretty certain ivey doesn't recommend calling on button with J4 and J5 off
But he had a double flush draw blocker.
@@leolldankologydouble straight draw blocker too 😂
😂
I’m calling anything if it’s a 3$ blind bro
a lot of exaggerated and incorrect analysis happening here but entertaining nonetheless and this type of content is great for the game! 😅
I agree! 😅
Great content to understand how the “new guy” at the table thinks lol
I like how the guy asked you not to put him in the video but you did and called him out 😂 looking forward to more vids!
Glad you had fun. There are lots of hands I could call you out on, but you're a beginner and you did pretty well from what I saw.
It's actually pretty ballsy to sit down with $500.
Congrats on a nice win.
This video is a perfect example of how a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing
J4 is in only in robbis book....
Bravo!
You have a lot to learn about poker, but I love the vid and experiencing the learning process all over again! You're doing great and these videos should you continue to play will be enjoyable to look back at someday! Keep it up and I look forward to seeing more from you!
Agreed with everyone else, what a great video. Well laid out, and I'm only half way through. That guy that threw his hands in the air - like he just don't care - is obviously the party starter! Woop!! Keep it up!
Really good effort on putting the video together. I play poker for a living and found it very interesting to listen to your thought processes for making your decisions. Also was curious what a beginner would take from the Ivey masterclass, as he is the GOAT of poker, but not really known for teaching/coaching it.
Thank you! And tbh, there were some good takeaways, but a lot of it was him just talking about hands he was in, and saying "go with your instincts". The only probably is, his instincts are worth $100 million, and mine are... well, you watched the video 😂
I more or less did this, taking Doug Polk and Negreanu's classes, then started with $2000. And I lost it all. But, after a year, and more classes from them, I could play at 5/10 tables and walk out ahead most of the time.
Now (~6-7 years later) I play 10/20 (or higher) and rarely lose badly. Most of the time I come out well ahead and sometimes double or triple-up, with last year being my first really substantial gain into 6-figures. This just takes time to absorb. It's something like muscle memory, and taking advantage of streaks when you're mentally at your best.
Phil Ivey says to call multi-way with J4o? lol
Nope he definitely doesn't 😂
Fantastic video, don't normally comment but such an informative video! You've gained a sub!
You deserve more subs and views!
You must have another UA-cam channel somewhere!? There is no freaking way you have this QUALITY of a video with such little subscribers… Great freaking video man 👏
I do have one question: Are you an avid poker player or did you literally just take Phil Ivey’s class and learn about Poker for the very first time then decided to test things out?
I've played some friend games in the past, and used to sometimes watch poker, but the MasterClass was the first time I actually learned/thought of real strategy
@@TrevorTreefortThat’s nuts dude! Idk what’s more impressive, the fact that you went on a little heater of a session or the entire production of the video itself! Keep going man, I’d love to see more poker videos. Either way, you have a new subscriber sir!
When opponent mucks you don’t need to show the winning hand, they gave up. Unless there’s a rule I’m unfamiliar with.
Great vid. Would love to see more poker content from you, if you decide to continue with it.
I don't know if I can mentally take another trip to the card house 😂, but maybe!
@@TrevorTreefort Wishing you the best buddy
Wow that was really a great video. And some of those hands where you just check call you ended up making way more money which is an advanced play.
Good video! I like to see you being so happy after that win. Risking rent is not recommended though if you now really did that.
An amazingly edited video bro! Deserving of more subs
u definitely deserve more subs n views that was an awesome video
Keep learning Trevor, and I'm here for your journey.
Super nice Video man! One question: how or where did you get the template for the hands? I also did a poker Vlog myself and had issues with finding a nice looking template to put the cards on. Keep it up, awesome Content!
Everyone checks then sunglasses raises.... Do what 😂
Great vlog!
Amazing video, I can not believe it only has 400 views
Great video so far! But I must be too stoned to watch right now, I keep focusing all of my attention on the tennis match in the background 😂
Thanks for the video. I'll probably check out the Ivey masterclass (i didn't know it existed prior to this video).
Two minor things though around terms... generally speaking, "cash in" is not the right term. Instead, you'd say you "buy in" / "bought in" to a game and then "cash out" at the end.
Also a "raise" is only if there's a bet to you already and you have an option to "fold", "call" or "raise". If no one has bet prior to you, your option is to "bet" or "check", not "raise".
keep on going youre gonna be a youtube millionare in 3 years not lying
Great title to the vid, but let's be serious for a moment. No way you miss your rent if you lose!! Cool story though. Keep grinding 💪🏼
Wait what???? 753 subscribers?? Keep it up man, you’ll be soaring high soon with quality content like this
this felt like a video that has 500k views minimum haha good job!
I wish you wouldve linked your friends video. Lol but great video
Where is the video of you playing from Dnegs master class?
Great editing this video btw
Great video!!
"My luck was about to take a turn for the worst" - then proceeds to play the Robbi😅
As someone who plays poker quite often, I really enjoyed seeing this video. I could tell you dont have much experience playing poker, so it was really fun to see how you implemented the things you learned from the great Phil Ivey. Plus you ran good which is always fun to see.
Also the quality of the video is really good. So keep up the effort. With this output your channel will definitely get big!
If you think someone is raising wide preflop the play is to 3 bet and try and take it down or play a pot in position.
The fastest way to improve your win rate as a newbie is to memorize opening ranges… and only bluff with outs… and don’t call to bluff catch… and don’t slow play value….. “bet/fold” poker they call it.
Travis needs to organize his chips. Screams that’s he’s a new player having random stacks like that. Stacks of 20 for 100$ is the standard
for so few subs, this is an amazing video
Amazing video, looked at your account saw you only just started this account. You will do numbers in no time
I love poker. Whenever I’m with my cousins, we would stay up all night playing poker with each other.
The fact the guy said you called instead of accepting it as a raise, actually saved you money.
It’s already been said, but your range is too wide. Almost anything with a 4 is a fold, unless it’s 44 or A4s, sometimes A4o. Bad kickers kick YOUR butt.
HONEY GET IN HERE NEW TREEFORT VIDEO JUST DROPPED
Fun Video! There are tons of mistakes, but that's fine considering you're a total beginner. It was still enjoying to watch
great editing m8
@@internetshaquille Thank you!
Money spread in the parking lot is crazyyyy
When there is no action it’s not called a raise it’s a bet fyi
Yeah, my editor told me that. I didn’t know that before, but I tried to fix it with the text pop ups.
Preflop the blinds count as the first bet though
@@TrevorTreefort. Just as a follow up if you are at the table and make the first bet and you say “Raise” everyone at the table will be coming after you for the rest of the night. It just tells them immediately you are the fish. Same goes for playing J4 on the button for a call or any position for that matter. Good luck to you. It was a really cool video and glad you got under that guys skin on the right. He’s what’s bad about poker.
No no, you mean gambling the amount of money your rent is, you damn sure didn’t just gamble your rent.
300 subs? u have potential bro
Dont forget that you have to pay 12 dollars an hour for club fees. Showing a win rate minus rake is fine for the challenge but not really representive of your skill.
definitely some areas of improvement, such as betting to get people off draws, you want to bet big to get value from draws, but you still want them to call since you are statistically ahead. The 98 of hearts hand is a perfect example, you can bet big like you did to GET VALUE from a draw, you do not want him to fold like you were saying you wanted. and if the most obvious draws get there on the river, you can check back since you are in position on the button and if he leads you can be pretty confident you're beat.
this was a sick video, please play more poker.
extremely underrated vid
This the type of shit we all did on our first time playing poker and ngl this is just the beginning of our careers 🤣🤣
Maybe the rules are different in Texas, but if you throw in one chip, it’s a call, and if you toss on more than one chip and they are at least double the previous bet, it’s a raise and you’re asking for change
On behalf of all the players who actually utilize real study material in solvers, we thank you and encourage you to continue playing like Ivey.
Don't tap the tank
Nice video sir. How are you liking poker so far? Fun game?
Also if you want to isolate, you want to raise the aggressor.
If you don’t you run the risk of everyone calling behind. Which lowers the chances of you winning.
Aces heads up are 80% or higher to win. Aces 6 ways is 30% to win.
Heads up is ideal especially at lower stakes because you can c bet flops and get them to fold most hands and you will print doing this over and over.
I am pretty sure if your opponent mucks first you don’t have to show any card, or can show just one , or both
Iv played poker for a living for 19 years and to listen to a guy play just kearning is so funny to me becsuse your thought processes are all over the place
During the hand when you tried raising and that guy stepped in saying it was only a call, he was totally trying to angleshoot you. Angleshooting is a common thing done by scummy people at the poker table who purposely try to get under your skin so you make bad decisions. In the very next hand he calls you out for recording. He wasn't actually upset about that he was just trying to further angle you to mess with your emotions. The reason I'm talking about this is because when I was new to poker similar things happened to me so the key takeaway I learned is when these things happen to you, don't let it get to your head and remain emotionless. Also, you should be folding hands like J 4 because they match up badly against a hand like J 10 that has a better kicker. In casino games like that one with a rake involved, you want to only be playing good hands so you can have a higher percentage chance of winning by the river.
while angling exists, in that hand any dealer would have deemed that a call. it’s not about him being upset. stringing bets like that is the actual angle… (not in this situation, since it was obviously an accident)
@@hellodud6821 just wondering, why should he have done differently to make it clearly look like a raise?
all the chips that you’re betting/raising need to be brought forward in one motion. standard rule
say raise first. then you can do whatever
Lol that isn't angling.
Omw to watch the phil ivey masterclass 😂
Lmao 😂 this is great
You must have taken Robbi Jade Lew’s masterclass.
You don’t want to play low suited connectors in early position or out of position…. So 3/4 s isn’t great
what you had in the last half an hour is called a heater. and boy did you make the most out of it
Well this has definitely convinced me to buy phil ivey’s masterclass.
And hey when my budget allows, negreanu’s course will be next
Great video
Flat calling with multiple players behind was definitely not part of the masterclass.
brilliant video
That dude with pocket rockets played you like a fiddle with the table talk 😭
Also NEVER play J4 off, it’s now known as a very bad luck hand because it was the hand in a big cheating scandal 1 year ago or so
Bro looks coked out at the end
Do risking my kids college tutition next
Interesting video concept, but it's much too small of a sample size for true results. But you showed on my recommended and I watched your video.
Keep up the Interesting ideas
Pretty sure ivey wouldnt limp in middle pos with low suited connectors
not raising that raise
Crazy guys but as soon as the cameras died I played super good and double my money lmao
More poker content and you’ll be getting subs brotha
If you are the first person to bet after a flop or turn or river - you aren't raising
“This video is about making mistakes and learning from them” if you’re gonna claim to be gambling rent money then no it’s no where close to being about making mistakes
you playing too many hands you should be folding. great video btw
Agreed lol
when ur first to bet on any street....its a bet....not a raise
I've never understood people like that one guy who threw his hands up when you did something incorrectly. It's obvious you were new, say " hey bud, just so you know you did that wrong, here's the right way to do it." Why try to intimidate a player who isn't that great at the game? Make it fun for them.
You have to raise a lot more often, you can’t just always call, especially with nuts and not raising just don’t let you bluff at all
300 subs let's go I love small Chanel's
Hope you guys remembered to tip the dealers, they work for tips
Nah.
basically who runs better
Explain this to me. Why does a new person gambling for the first time always win ?
Apparently the masterclass didnt teach anything about ranges or how to play good poker.
So you’ve probably played poker a few times and decides to take a master class when you skips beginners class 😂
11:19 , 700$??? also 13:01 930$!?!?!? 14:14 1100$!!? , i cant believe you over doubled your money! you are the luckiest person alive!
for real.. that was a donkey call to catch the gutshot on the river. He played extremely loose -- which makes sense.. phil ivey.
You didn’t raise $10. You bet $10 😉 🏴☠️
Big sample size
No way Ivey said to play J4
bought in for and cashed out for
wait this isn’t a casino isn’t this the cardhouse at tch austin ?
