You can tell things got tense when Ryu was the only one emoting half way through lol
Toadette disconnected early on, and Luigi disconnected halfway through basically (you can tell by the way they act during minigames and the lack of emotes)
funny to think that if Ryu didn't use the poison shroom on Luigi, he would tied him on Bowser spaces and won.
Karma really got Ryu good in this game:
1) dismissing the dialogue about losing companion when overtaken, and then immediately losing a companion for a reason he dismissed
2) slight mocking of Luigi for looking at the board, then getting bowser a third and fourth time because he didnt look, causing him to lose almost all of the 100 coins, which was a very big lead when the rest only have around 50 coins on average
3) accidentally used cursed mushroom on Luigi for nothing, causing Luigi to roll low and hit bowser a second time, and thus causing Ryu himself to lose the final star required to draw, which would have resulted in a comeback win for Ryu as Wario only have 2 coins
It's as though Karma is trying so hard to make Ryu pay

33:09 Ryu and some others might not be aware of this but Toadette is actually a bot. The player that played her disconnected but the game doesnt tell you when someone disconnects and their name stays so youre not even aware someone left until you notice cpu like behavior which toadette is displaying. CPUs move faster, they make decisions on boards instantly, if they get item minigame the minigame is skipped and duel minigames are also skipped if 2 cpus duel each other. You can also fast forward their event animations even though youre not controlling them (if youre controlling your character only you can fast forward your own animations). They also ready up in practice screen as soon as last real player readys up.
Luigi also disconnected at some point, the only one who stayed all the way through was Wario (and Ryu obviously)

Hard to know what the ripple effects were, but if you didn't slow down Luigi unnecessarily causing him to hit the Bowser space, you would have tied for that award, each gotten a star, and then beat Wario by having more coins.
Not using the pipe at the end was tragic

also, unless they changed something, you can time the dice rolls,
jump to hit the dice when the number on the dice is low.
jump for it when it says 2 or 3, this means it should end on 7, 8 or 9.
you'll get more consistent high throws this way.

Would love to see you play with Pro Rules. Considering you're really good at the mini-games and it takes out a lot of the random unfair stuff and focuses more on who is good at games of skill.

I kind of have mixed feelings about this board. In one hand, I think it really captures the essence of a race. Since there is basically only one way to go, in theory everyone is just gonna get 1 star each lap. So in order to get ahead of the rest you need to start lapping people, and the game is really about using your triple and quadruple dice perfectly. The one fork in the road at the top makes this all the more prevalent as overtaking an opponent last second once they decided on a lane is like the only way to make someone miss out on their ordained star of the lap. It really comes down to having good rolls on your dice blocks and moving as many spaces as possible.
However, there is one thing that kinda ruins this whole mechanic and turns the board upside down - the basically unavoidable Boo. Thanks to the ever present coin spam in the modern Mario Party games, everyone can almost always steal a star once per lap as well. And in the end, the person who get's targeted is always the one in first place. Then the next player is gonna steal from that guy, and then the next one from him and so on. In the end, whoever is passing the Boo last is who comes out on top and not whoever is in first place.
Luckily, there are the bonus stars to award the players who done good but I can totally see many matches go like 1 player being in first with 3 stars (while everyone else has 1) having all his 3 stars stolen by other players in the end.
I think they should have made another crossroad where you can choose to go to boo but with red+bowser spaces or the safe road with no Boo
To make it a bit more balanced
or adding also here a Skeleton Key Door.
In practice, there are a few elements that make it more interesting. With luck and strategy, a player could lap the others to get an extra star, and event tiles before the star on both paths can cause players to miss stars. Jamboree Allies are *very* easy to steal on this map and can tip the balance by doubling stars or events. And on the bottom half of the map, the button that reverses all the bounces lets someone on the opposite bottom track bounce directly to one of the star locations...
It looks simple, but I suspect it's balanced nicely on analysis. Plus, economy isn't as broken as in the last couple titles; the 50 coins for a steal aren't guaranteed, and other items allow for star stealing too

Switch has definitely given us the most fun Mario party games IMHO (ok Mario Party Superstars was kind of underwhelming but still a good one) but Super Mario Party and this one have some amazing modes.🔥

The Jamboree buddy is... kinda weirdly implemented. When a player passes a player with a buddy, the buddy automatically goes to the passing player. Kinda sucks though. He stole your buddy and then used it to steal your coins, then used the profit to steal your star. And then your buddy returns after he helps your enemy. That's just messed up. I think the one who came up with the system must be a husband or wife who cheats all the time at the cost of their partner and then comes back like nothing happened.
I think mario party devs just love pure chaos lol

The physics on bumper balls looks awful. Not enough bounce at all. The Mario Kart map is awesome. It encourages you to race around the board as fast as you can, while giving loads of item spaces to move faster, and shops to buy dice blocks. Looks fun.
Yeah even the Bumper Balls minigame in the very first Mario Party on N64 is better and funnier than this version...
Superstars bumper balls was better than this, I genuinely don't understand why they didn't just directly port over the game from there, how do you remake a game 4 times and make it worse, MP2, MP Top 100, MP Superstars and now SMP Jamboree

Pretty sure there's a map button like other Mario parties, Ryu even complained about other players starting at the map on their turn and i think he showed it once himself
