My great grandfather entered thru Mobile Alabama. Unfortunately the docks burned down so there's no 'proof' of the process. On the other hand, my German side entered thru Canada.1846.😎
They did a sort of 'Duelling Banjos' in one of the Riverdance shows between a pair of Irish guys and a pair of black guys. It was really interesting the contrast between the stiffness of the Irish and the relaxed style of the black guys. Then they reversed styles. I think the black guys won by a wee bit. I'm Irish by the way.

When Riverdance took the world by storm during Eurovision in Ireland I fell for it, hook, line and sinker. The Irish music that was at the heart of it is irresistible. This is taking it to a new level by showing that contemporary music can be used as well with Irish Dancing.
It is definitely contagious. I have some Irish ancestry (as does half the world, it seems), and was proud when Riverdance came out. I had friends at the time who were a bit weird and tried to put it down. Probably because they can't do it, or feel the music for that matter! 🌵💗🍀🍀
I saw Riverdance on stage when I was about 10. I'm in my mid 30s now and it's still my favorite show I've ever see on stage. The combination of the dance and that music really hits me in a certain way. I imagine anyone who has ever made fun of it has never seen the show. It's so beautiful.

Oh my Goodness! i love you guys already! I am African American I say that because its not many of us that you see in Irish dance classes such as I. Every since Michael Flatley and Jean Butler and Colin Dunne came on the scene in the early 90's I have wanted to learn so I started with taking tap dance in high school back in 1996 in which I learned the basics and some intermediate steps followed up by irish dance classes in Hawaii with 20 year veteran Irish Dance teacher Melanie Nance at jigthishawaii however, a misunderstanding between a student of hers and the Parent company in California led to Melanie giving up her position but she was phenomenal. I however only learned the 123's in softshoe but I gotta learn this before I die! LOL please I wanna eventually get into hard shoes and get faster like you guys. If you ever come to the Mississippi gulf coast I am game I am for real I know you guys are laughing but i am soooo serious I love the music, the flutes, Anuna and everything, great grandfather was Irish descent so yeah thanks for reading.

When the world opens up, I plan to move from hot, dry, burnt, snake infested Australia to somewhere that isn't...like the Wild West Coast of Ireland. Went to Ireland in 2019, absolutely amazing place. Beautiful people , music and culture. The accent is also to die for. Btw Newgrange is breathtaking, so underrated and older than Stonehenge. (I checked the tape out from our little local library constantly, and finally got to see the show live once in the neighboring city. I was in heaven!) . I had Riverdance on VHS when I was a kid and to this day it remains one of my most favorite shows and treasured memories. I makes me so happy to see these young men keeping their culture alive and bringing these amazing dance traditions to the modern age!

When the world opens up, I plan to move from hot, dry, burnt, snake infested Australia to somewhere that isn't...like the Wild West Coast of Ireland. A small village near Galway sounds just right..looking forward to seeing these talented young men in action one day. Best wishes to them, and all who carry on the folk dance traditions of their lands. Love that modern twist.

@@orosedobheathaabhaile Rosie - living in Ireland isn’t that expensive; we spent 2 years in Australia, as liveaboards on a yacht. Australian costs of living are not cheap. So why not move to Dingle (been the with the boat) ? It’s a gorgeous place !

Went to Ireland in 2019, absolutely amazing place. Beautiful people , music and culture. The accent is also to die for. Btw Newgrange is breathtaking, so underrated and older than Stonehenge. I am a bit over Australia as well, especially being in Victoria during Covid, good luck with the move . Well done to the lads they are the epitome of the Irish spirit.🍀🍀👏🇦🇺

I watched Riverdance probably 100x when I was younger lol! (I checked the tape out from our little local library constantly, and finally got to see the show live once in the neighboring city. I was in heaven!)

I had Riverdance on VHS when I was a kid and to this day it remains one of my most favorite shows and treasured memories. I makes me so happy to see these young men keeping their culture alive and bringing these amazing dance traditions to the modern age!
