The music is so chill I’ll watch again just for the tunes.
Its a simple and effective knot. But I wouldn’t trust it more that I would a traditional cross lash. And here’s why, you pull the loops a little (for example, bending the cross lash at the intersection) and the entire knot loosens up, causing structural issues. That being said, it does have definite, prevalent, and considerable advantages over your traditional cross lashing, namely the ease of use, and low requirement of resources.
But, when resources are no issue, or when structural stability and integrity are paramount, a properly executed frapped cross lash would be more than ideal.
why knot take the loose ends and wrap the middle like a cross lash
Not quite sure how I ended up here but this one’s knot for me.
get out!
he was wrong to close with the flat knots at the end by doing them in reverse. in fact it closed with two half-hitches.
Hi. Strangely this knot video appeared in the middle of a project I'm undertaking just at the right moment, and is perfect for the job.
Knot to worry bro!😄. Yeah I came down the rabbit hole also, started with fishing knots 🎣
Also known as a handcuff knot.
Mind you, a square lash would be an order of magnitude stronger...
This is a variation of a telco knot that was somewhat commonly used by telephone wiring technicians before the advent of zip ties. The difference is running the tail ends in opposite directions through the larks head instead of the same direction. The telco knot could be tightened EXTREMELY tight as pulling the tail ends in opposite directions forcibly slid the larks head into whatever was being tied. It was also often secured with a reef knot.
Wow, such simple knot that can have so many uses. Thank you for sharing this.
HI. Strangely, your video appeared just at the right moment for me. I'm in the middle of a project and was looking for an easy but tidy knot to bind and build a small bamboo frame, perfect...thank you.
Appreciate your comment.
This might be more valuable than your smartphones if this world ever breaks into total chaos.
Heh Yes.
Gold's hands...and heart too...thanks Mr. ET🙏
Easy enough knot, but not one I would ever use in a bushcraft scenario. Much better options are available.
Appreciate.
Imagine you don't have much rope and you want to untie it after the use, this one may come handy ?
Спасибо! Просто, быстро, понятно и прочно!
NEW SUB. Wow!!!! Excellent tutorial?
I’m going to review your videos to master some of them (“master” equals “commit to memory”), then-and my Grandson matures-I’ll pass-on the info to him. It’ll be a way of “leaving something good behind” when I’m dead and gone ♥️
I loved the structure knot; but was disappointed when your two overhand knots tied as a locking knot ended up as a granny knot and not a square knot!
Thank you for your feedback.
Yep, exactly what I thought!
Very pleased by the structure knot, then when locking it: What the...😳
... and I almost heard the teacher's stick smack my fingers in my mind... Ouch!😩
Isn't the square knot harder to untie if needed ?
@@smartcatcollarproject5699 Definitely not harder to untie than the square-knot. If there is a difference at all, it might be actually harder. Try for yourself with your shoe-laces.
Huh, this is the first time I've heard it being called a square knot, always learned it was a reef knot growing up
What is that song? Super dope
I am nor sure why a knotty video showed up on my recommended list. Or why I watched it. Now I will need to go to confession.
Nothing wrong with getting a little knotty on Saturday night!
Excellent video and a nice knot. Looks to me as though you secured it with a granny knot. Wouldn't a reef knot be more secure?
What a great name, if you’re into tying knots.
William, why would you watch this if you weren’t into tying knots?
@@tonybasilio7003 Total sarcasm on my part, especially since Matthew Walker is the actual name of an actual knot.
Interesting, I’ll give it a try but it appears to me that a Transom Knot is easier and at least as secure.
If you want even more security, you can use a prusik knot instead of a larks head/cow hitch; however, it can be more difficult to release if put under extreme tension.
wondering why this is in my recommended list, but then i remembered i LOVE random shit and wasting time. definitely worth it though.
Hah. Thank you.
We made improvised handcuffs with these knots in the army with 550 cord.
Music please?
Well done, thank you for being so deliberate. Another 8 or 10 views & I might just get this one down. 🤓
thanks you, its very inspiration, success its always for your brothers
Cool music
Thank You!
Nice looking knot, but not very secure. Works loose very easily. Needs several more wraps about the structure otherwise there is too much play and flex even with a securing knot.
A real masterpiece !... brilliant. Thank for sharing. Respect.
We would make field handcuffs in the corps using this knot. With enough tail line to make a collar to control prisoners. Very effective before zip cuffs were handy. Probably even the precursor the inventor used to spark his idea.
Well done. Thank you.
Knot too shabby😆😂🤣
Thank you - that's a damn good knot.
Thank you too.
i needed this, thank you so much
Harika dügüm
Thank you.
Supper
Awesome thanks bud
Thank you too.
Just measured the cordage out. About the same as two clove hitches. Would be easier in some cases given the situation of your build or rigging options. Another one for the toolbox
Awesome!
Thats great for my kites.. thanks!
@Chris King I used to make beautiful kites when I was a single parent and I could have used this knowledge, it would have saved on the glues I had to improvised with.
Each kite was different and we never brought them back... maybe you have one landed in your yard?
Always used brown paper, bamboo and natural twine, but the string needed to be strong so we bought synthetic ones from boat shops!
One was about 6ft high and could actually lift my daught in her small chair, never lost her though. She is grown up now with her own familly...... my gosh I do go on!!!!
@Chris King 😂😅
My favourite things...
Thank You!
Nice👍🏼
Thank You! #cbys
Thanks for this

Hvala!
great knot cheers.
Might be good for small sticks. Definitely not for spars
Saludos desde México 👍
Artist and song title? It's quite dope.
@@simonwilson7581 ...alright... I laughed a little.
And now we need a variant for three staves for cookset hangers :- p
Cool man.
Thank You!
"Easy to Untie" -- With a metal hook and leverage.
Shouldn't you use a square hitch?
Nice
Appreciate.
A constrictor knot can do the same thing, and is probably preferable if you need it tight
The transom knot would be a version of the constrictor hitch that is adapted for crossed sticks. Just like the constrictor hitch, the transom knot can be very hard to untie. It is very secure. I think the purpose of this knot is to avoid having to cut the knot off when you're done with it. Also, bushcrafters already use a lot of lark's head knots for other purposes, so this one fits nicely into their system. But yeah, to join perpendicular spars for a bushcraft fort, I would probably use a quick and dirty floor lashing for lots of floor spars, transom hitches for just a few spars or full on square lashings for critically loaded spars.
48 thumbs down idiots who still haven't figured out the knot tie!! Great video thanks for sharing.
Thank’s for watching.
Thanks, now my shelter will hopefully be sturdier on this stupid island!
Excelente
Thank You!

Amigo los palos pueden ser cualquira el tutorial es el nudo
Gracias!
😍👍👍👍
Thank You! 👍
What do you call this knot?
Same way you do a cow hitch
Genial
Thank You!
I do knot know why this video was recommended
@Greg Artley My shoes are laces but no knots. I just go all the way up, and then lace all the way back down again.. Looks amazing and no tieing..
Great knot, but why the music? This addition of techno-ish / trance / electro music always baffles me.
Ive been wondering the best wat to do this for years
Heh, not this! Securing two pieces of timber at 90deg you want a square lashing. This is good for maybe tying a vine to a forcing stick, light gardening at best, far too flimsy but quick and easy.
Super :)
Thank You! #cbys
Isn't this a Glepnir?
1. The easy to untie knot wasn't doubled knotted like he did during the instruction.
2. He secured the knot with a granny knot instead of a square knot. Any Boy Scout knows better.
How to add DAYS of labor to a simple shelter build.
Days? Are you building shelters or manors?
Yes it sure is time consuming but days? Overexageration much?
🇮🇳👍
👍
Thank You!
..... i already forgot how to tie it
👍❤👍❤👍❤👍❤👍❤👍❤👍❤
Bin beeindruckt ! 👍 1157 🥋🔔✌
🖒
Just learn how to tie proper lashings, they are simple and very strong and are easy to untie.
I use a Butchers knot, but don’t do the final tie off. (Doing it that way means you can tie a joint with a single piece of “rope” and then pull it free quite easily after cooking - no picking out bits of it from the meat)
i like the tutorial, except for background music. prefer silence, so mute your vids while watching.
*Бабий* узел всё испортил...
*Grandma's* knot ruined everything..
👍👍👍
✌😎
you got the knot wrong in the end. you passed the low current of the plane node above. and you did it twice. I call this error "donkey's knot"
*plane node = i mean square knot
👍👍👍🙂
💥👏👏👏✌

What a useless knot. And the "granny knot" on top to secure it. Priceless. Go watch some videos on proper lashings, and really secure your staves. Personally, I like the Japanese style square lashing for this application.
Too much form. Not enough function. If you need to tie two overhand kniots to secure an otherwise elaborate slip knot, the not is crap. Just used two Canadian jam knots crossed and you will have a very secure lashing.
А ссверу дурацкий узел )
Thank You.
