This was extremely helpful to me, I've just started building my first shelter and was searching for knots and your vid came up, thank you. Subbed.
Wraps, fraps, and a clove hitch sounds like a yummy sandwich!
Knot Knowledge
Is very important.
Thanks- ( saved to playlist )
PREPFORIT same
Very good really helped me out 👍
Your Videos are exactly the type of content i greatly appreciate! Your doing an Outstanding job with this CH, ,,, Mike,
thanks for the weight demo! I'm new to this as I'm building a bamboo pergola and had doubts about the strength and hold. I was pleasantly shocked to see it could hold an adult and then some!
Skills I may have learned as a youngster but only became relevant to me as an adult after moving to the country and beginning small scale farming. Using these techniques to build various trellises to hold pole beans, cucumber plants, etc. Now i am extremely curious, and will continue studying as I am interested in attaining more key survival skills. Awesome video. Subscribing. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing these tips!
Will be using this for a pull up bar, thank you very much!!!
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I am just starting out with bushcraft. I have bought a house with bush land directly off my back step and I plan to build a shelter, furniture and other things to camp out. Liked and subbed. Cheers
.....and thank you for your service to our country!
Very good and nice with the toggle! Thx.
Thank you really needed this
Awesome vid. Keep them coming
Love that you are sporting the waffle shirt!! Wore mine under the uniform today. The flightline was chili today.
Thank you for the information....
I needed this video to add to my toolbox.
Great video. Looking forward to all your videos. Thx
Nice instructional video.
I wouldn't use paracord for a permanent structure bearing significant weight though. It stretches over time.
Mule tape! The tensile strength is much greater than paracord, and no stretch.
And you can pack a lot more than paracord since it's flat and lighter.
Thank you so much , never got the chance to learn great tips like this as a child but these are the things that would make sense to learn instead of algebra , R.E and false history etc
Very nice videos I like them a lot. Thank you.
good info
Dope video keep it up
Glad you're back on youtube. I could have sworn I was a sub....I'll sub again!
Good luck with your endeavor. If it doesn't work out, Texas is doing well!
Nice video! I would suggest to use a marlin spike hitch around the toggle to tighten the rope
Practicing in my living room with two 3/4in dowels and some twine. I'm not outdoorsy at all, but I've always wanted to know how to do this. Better to have the know-how and not need it than need it and not have it. At the very least, I could make some neat blanket forts out of dowel frames for my cats. HAHA
I thought the poles you set up we're large until you reached out to them lol
Thanks for the information!
Welcome to wisconsin Malcolm
Hello Malcolm, I would like to know (for future reference) If I were to "TAG" you two to do a video (like your fire kit) would you actually do it? Thank you, Jep.
i've been trying to make a frame for a tiny little portable "greenhouse" for some of my smaller plants out of old pvc piping and twine and it has been looking like shit but this video gives me hope that i can fix it
Hey, any chance of doing a Q&A soon?
I wish I learned more stuff like this from my "Scouts".
Unfortunately, it was more church-oriented, so we did more fun stuff, and never really learned anything. I definitely have a lot of great memories, but i wish it was more "scout-like"
Yea you could have had fun still while learning essential out door things
In case you're interested...if you used solid colored line, it would be much easier to follow.
That pattern is just hard to see where the line is.
That waffle top looks offly familiar🤔😉
Instead of that simple overhand knot (OHK) on your standing end, pull a little extra long tail and simply twist your standing and working ends together with 6 or 7 twists and then begin your wrapping. It works great. Reason being, if that OHK is not cinched down tightly against your clove hitch you have essentially introduced potential slack into your lashing. And we all know Murphy's Law applies in these situations.
never mind, found this technique in a book since I kept hearing all these youtube tutorials weren't as tight as possible. Definitely necessary since the first knot will slip
3 fraps and a double half-caf late
I’m doing this on a tee pee frame, like your tripod but 5x larger after I do it 3 times on each side I can lean some branches or trees on it and cover them with spruce or pine branches.
would your beginning and ending clove hitches benefit from a little tuck-under that makes them constrictor knots... Or is that Overkill ?
In Israel we do this with 4 wraps 4 fraps
Would this work for two round metal poles too? Or not so much, as the rope can’t bite into the metal like it can with wood.
What type of cordage do you recommend?
Your hitch will be more secure if you tie the over hand knot around the main line
Do you have a link to that rope u are using?
That waffle top though! I still wear mine.
lol dude it's so comfortable!
I just commented that too! Lol
Can somebody make a "nice and tight" counter?
Dont for get to twist the rope when you do the clove hicth so it wont fall apart
I wish you finished the ending?! Do I cut the rope?
cloven hoof in the way
what is that rope you are using called
did anyone realize he looks like merv from impractical jokers
i dont really understand beacause you block the cord with ur hand maybe try for the back
It will hold but it's not the best way to do it. You don't want your two pieces of cord to be drawn in the opposite direction with the knot bearing all the stress (like this) .Can't really show you in text. That was just a tip! Now for The Square Lashing , it is a knot itself idk why you used 2 knots it requires NONE .You start at THE BOTTOM loop around one time cross it over itself (like a X) you go back around the bottom you just made and tighten thats how you start .. take your stick, branch, log, victim whatever and start looping like in the video 3 lashings on each side and 3 times fraping pull tight every time you loop a frap and end it with a clove hitch(same as you started)!!!(clove hitch can be tricky sometimes)as it can undo your work. But if u got paracord in the woods just growing about any knot will do :)
Trust the knot don't trust the wood
The square lashes weren't squared. Angled sloppy off line. This will not stay tight but wiggle and sag. No one could see the clove hitch being tied. Maybe do that part separately in plain view, not six feet up and above the camera. Clove hitch is sometimes called the hitching post knot.
First knot you say "...under this one here" while the entire work space is completely obscured by your arm from the perspective of the viewer.
What happened to your channel man new content
Some common sense. Don't block the camera with your elbow as we can't see you explaining the knots very well.
!?!?! How did you hold the pole to the tree BEFORE YOU STARTED THE 1ST CLOVE HITCH !?!?!?
Explain bro 😣
Your hand is covering what you’re doing dude.
I'f you can't figure out out, you've got more concerns than knots
@@meazy451 I came here to learn it. If I could figure it out on my own I would not be here on this video trying to learn.
Can't see. MOVE YOUR HANDS or THE CAMERA.
Are you trying to tell us that you're homeless since you got out of the Air Force? Come on, you can level with us.
Too long to get to the point.
When doing tutorials, please make sure, you don't talk nonsense. Your first knot isn't a clove hitch, it's a constrictors knot. If the ridge pole wasn't suspended with the tripod, your way would be a pain in the ass - better start with a (real) clove hitch around the TREE, after the first half wrap (around the pole and behind the back of the tree) the pole will be secure and not fall on your feet. The rest is fine, although three wraps IMHO is the bare minimum for a lean-to.
We see nothing!
Hei...Blocking !!!
I am a Christian prepper I believe in prayer prepping and no panicking - proverbs 22:3 Luke 22:36 Matthew 24:9. I am looking for a group of like-minded people.
