Hey Dan ,I am a shoppie in a cruise line, but i want to transition to Accounts department of cruise and want to become a purser i have a bachelor's degree in finance. Can you tell me what course to do from outside which software and skills to learn so i can get selected as a purser, it will help me a lot. ThankYou!
Good questions. Unfortunately, I have no idea towards any course. And I imagine you are versed in Excel and Office? If then, and if you are onboard, I highly suggest speaking directly to the Hotel Controller and sharing with them your interest and intentions. They are ultimately who can decide to begin your shadowing and training and/or how best to move into your preferred role in that department.
@@DANOVERBOARDvlogs yes i know MS office , but i wanted to know if there is any particuar software that cruise ship use for payroll and other finance stuff then i can try to learn them online and be a little step ahead. But yeah you're right as well i will ask the hotel department when i am onboard , currently i am on a vacay. Anywyas thanks man.
@Sgt.Slaughter I am not aware of any program being used. I know most accounting is done shoreside, not onboard. Even if there is a program being used, for Princess, I imagine it is proprietary and only used on the ships. I doubt there is anything that you could learn or a course you could take otherwise off the ship. If I am wrong and if there is please let us know.
Hi Dan.. a request from my side. I am from India I have been applied for Junior purser jobs for cruise but I have been rejected. I don't know the reason why I am rejected.. I have land experience in accouting and Finance in Hospitality industry.. can you please do me a favour. That how to build a resume to get shortlisted for an interview. If yes please reply I will provide my email I'd to you..
@sunilnainav8239 If you are applying directly through the Princess careers portal for example, and you are receiving rejections for their posted positions, perhaps your qualifications just aren't a match at this time. Is there an official affiliated agency in your area that sources talent on behalf of the cruises?
@sunilnainav8239 The best way is through your chosen line directly - through the cruise line's career portal. Second is via an affiliated and official agency in your area. Speak with some one directly, and NEVER pay an agency other!
Would you prefer Christmas in a tropical climate like Grenada, or snowy regions like Canada?
It is so surreal that this was in 2022, I feel like I am jumping across the Danverse haha
It's true! My vloglife is traversing multiple timelines! Thank you for keep up with the journey(s)!
yeah, it seems like only a year ago he started his journey and here we are two years back in time 🙂
I've got a lot of catching up to do!
It's not a current story, but a story nonetheless.
I've visited Grenada, beautiful Island, lovely people too
@@lizzieburton5276 I agree. What brought you out that way?
Cool video
Thank you very much. I have more coming.
Very beautifull video , do you get free wifi as an officer?
Not in my role, no. We had to pay for Wi-Fi access onboard. Wi-Fi for us was $2 USD for a 24-hour period.
Ah k

Yes Dan we have agencies as hiring partners for cruise. You say is that best way to go through agencies..?
