The worst part is that she got bad advice! This guy in the video is incorrect. Dogs are no different than cats in Islam. Dogs can be kept in the house, but the dog itself must be trained to only void itself outside of the house. It's not the dog itself that keeps angels out, it's the excrement of the dog (and ask yourself if you'd enter a house with dog poop/pee everywhere, probably not). The whole "dog saliva is impure" leaves out a very important point, it is only impure if the dog has rabies!! That is why the container the guy in the video was referring to was washed so thoroughly (also hydrophobia is not a disease itself, it is a late-stage symptom of "rabies" which is the correct name of the disease). Those dogs that the Prophet (PBUH) ordered to be put down either had rabies or were nuisance stray dogs that would cause problems by entering homes (as they didnt have doors at that time, only curtains). Basically all Islam requires the owner to properly train the dog. Even most Westerners would agree this is proper practice for dog ownership. In fact, the Quran states that an animal that is killed by a hunting dog is halal and no further slaughter is required. If dog saliva was impure, why would the meat of an animal killed by the dog's teeth be permissible? Muslims need to take the time to research and think these things through rather than just accept hear-say as fact.
Absolutely, this woman recognises the true value of dogs. They are intelligent, sentient beings. The Prophet over a 1000 years ago made them haram to safe people from getting rabies, he had no other options like we have today. There is more bacteria in human saliva than there is in dogs, so it's safer to be bitten by a dog rather than a human. Once dogs are vaccinated they are perfectly safe to interact with. It was only back in ancient times when there was no cure for rabies did the Prophet act quickly to prevent more people getting it by declaring dogs are garam. It was the fear of catching rabies way back in history that this notion that dogs were unclean was invented to save people from getting rabies. Dogs have better sense of emotional state than humans and they are loyal to theirs owners. If you trains a dog on how to behave towards you, the dog can only follow. We have a dog who is up to date with vaccinations. I personally train our dog not to leak me, not to jump on me and she follows. The reason I trained her to behave this way, is that whenever our dog gets too close to me it feels like a magnetic field disruption around me and that makes me uncomfortable. However, I can stroke her briefly, feed her, give her clean water and clean after her because she is unable to do so. I make sure that I keep the house clean and burn incenses. The dog is happy and I am happy.

In the early times of islam people had dogs either for herding/guarding/work OR people had dogs in the house to use for religious rituals or black magic. In the Persian empire and around, it was common to have a "housedog". That dog was used for black magic and has nothing to do with dogs as pets. That is why islam has hadiths saying you can't have a dog in the house other than herding/ guarding/ work. These text not allowing dogs are about black magic. You can't keep a dog for black magic and similar rituals. That is what it means. Second, about the saliva, saliva is not considered impure acording to islam. Only: if a dog licks your plates or cups (that you eat of) then wash it 7 times. This has nothing to do with "impurity" it is just hygene especially in a time where there were stray/ wild dogs who could have rabiës. Our Holy Quran speaks of a dog as a companion in surah Al Kahf, where the dog is one of the just youths that hide in the cave. There is nothing wrong with them having, being with a dog. And in the time of the first muslims, dogs would freely walk in and out of the mosque, people would pray and nobody would clean the places touched by the dogs. All these ideas that you can't have or touch a dog in islam is completely false and is not from Allah. It is a man made interpretation based on texts that forbids people to have the blackmagic dogs. It is not against dogs in general, dogs are not impure, nor is its saliva.
One more thing, in Persia and around, people also believed in the magical supernatural abilities of dogs with spots above the eyes. There is a hadith about dogs with spots above the eyes. Clearly indicating that is what the hadiths are about. Dogs in the house meant at that time: a dog used for black magic. That was called "the housedog".

I just came from watching Dr. Shabir Ally answer about dogs. He mentioned how dogs being prohibited in the Holy Quran is no where mentioned. He stated dogs were used for hunting and we are allowed to eat the meat from the hunting where dogs obviously carry in their mouth. IF something it's not specifically mention in the Holly Quran, I have a hard time believing others. I don't like pets in the house, I often think dogs smell bad and don't really like to pet them but them being forbidden would want me to truly understand the reason behind it.
IF something is not specifically mentioned in holy Quran , we turn to our Prophet (pbuh). Because in Quran Allah didn’t mention everything or mentioned in hints mostly other than the base points which are clear. Like Allah said to pray. Our Prophet (pbuh) taught every details of prayer. He said dogs are not allowed as house pet, we have to obey. Otherwise our prayers, fasting, hajj, zakat everything is invalid if the prophet (pbuh) is wrong, Nauzubillah. 2 Hadits of our Prophet (pbuh): #Al-Bukhaari (2145) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Whoever keeps a dog, a qiraat from his good deeds will be deducted every day, except a dog for farming or herding livestock.” #Ibn Maajah (3640) narrated from ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him) that Prophet (pbuh) said: “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.
They can't be kept inside because they are dirty, their saliva, other liquids etc they lick and rub against everything in the house and smell bad, that's plenty of reasons...
Spirituality, religion and faith are important. But you have to seriously examine if the faith you have comes from God and is based on His love for you and the world or it is simply the word of tradition based too much in anger and contradictions.

I am muslim, I would never be unkind to a dog, but I would never want a dog around me as a pet, I don't know why, but now I convert to Al-Islam after being a christian, it makes sense. I have two muslim friends who were born into the faith who keep dogs as pets and while I kept my thoughts to myself I thought to myself how strange...actually, on reflection, when I first converted, I visited a so-called muslim home who had a picture of a dog, and again it freaked me out, and 'boy!' did I get some push back from some of the so called muslims...in my early years

I'm trying to answer you questions based on what I know, to answer your first question; There are 7 animals that are definitely get to heaven among them are the prophet saleh camel, the companion of al-Kahfi's dog, the bird of Sulaiman and others, while most of the other animals only become soil again when they have received the justice between them in the day of judgments. And the 2nd is: In jannah there is no term for sections, it depends on the wishes of the owner of jannah if he wants his animal to return to his side then it will be as it was, even more perfect and more beautiful. third; if the master is in hell then the master must undergo his punishment first until his sins are clean but if the master acts justly and takes care of him with love even though the master has a lot of sins will be reduced in proportion to the good deed that he did in this world, the last; Rasulullah s.a.w was given a choice by his god whether to stay with his people and also lead them until the end of the world or return to his creator? I don't get it. Allah Is the creator of all and Allah has made dogs as well as humans. Ok let’s say for the sake of argument that dogs do carry diseases in their saliva, (which btw many other animals do to including human beings), why did allah specify only dogs to be haram and not other animals? Wouldn’t allah already knew, since he is omniscient, that later in the future we will have better medical treatments to treat many kind of illnesses that would render this argument of dogs carrying diseases invalid? If allah is really true and omniscient he would have at least made a provision lifting the ban on dogs until such time when modern medicine could provide cures for such diseases. I thought of the same thing too. That's why i decided to judge what is haram and halal by myself. The way i do this is i check if there is any explicit verse in the quran regarding prohibition of certain things. If there aren't then i go to the hadiths. If the hadith doesnt make sense i.e there's no proper and scientific evidence to support it, i just makr fatwa for myself. I know it's wrong to do so but in the world we are living in different people have so many different opinions to the point that if the average person were to try and do EXTREME research he/ she would probably go crazy or have a mental breakdown. I also feel as if Allah should have sent Muhammad (SAW) in an era where a method of recording audio and/ or video were available i.e in the 20th century or so. If it were like that then there would be less ambiguity about what the prophet forbade and what he didn't since we would have video/ audio evidence.
Firstly, I've never heard a major scholar saying that the definitive reason dogs are not permissable to keep as pets is due to their diseases or because its saliva is impure. That is a mistake on zakirs part. I believe Zakir was just making a rational point about the dogs saliva because dogs always have their tongues out. The reason we don't eat pork is because its forbidden, we don't rationalise it. The hadith clearly state that angels do not enter homes where dogs are present. That is a good enough reason not to keep them.

The worst part is that she got bad advice! This guy in the video is incorrect. Dogs are no different than cats in Islam. Dogs can be kept in the house, but the dog itself must be trained to only void itself outside of the house. It's not the dog itself that keeps angels out, it's the excrement of the dog (and ask yourself if you'd enter a house with dog poop/pee everywhere, probably not). The whole "dog saliva is impure" leaves out a very important point, it is only impure if the dog has rabies!! That is why the container the guy in the video was referring to was washed so thoroughly (also hydrophobia is not a disease itself, it is a late-stage symptom of "rabies" which is the correct name of the disease).
Those dogs that the Prophet (PBUH) ordered to be put down either had rabies or were nuisance stray dogs that would cause problems by entering homes (as they didnt have doors at that time, only curtains). Basically all Islam requires the owner to properly train the dog. Even most Westerners would agree this is proper practice for dog ownership.
In fact, the Quran states that an animal that is killed by a hunting dog is halal and no further slaughter is required. If dog saliva was impure, why would the meat of an animal killed by the dog's teeth be permissible? Muslims need to take the time to research and think these things through rather than just accept hear-say as fact.
Absolutely, this woman recognises the true value of dogs. They are intelligent, sentient beings. The Prophet over a 1000 years ago made them haram to safe people from getting rabies, he had no other options like we have today. There is more bacteria in human saliva than there is in dogs, so it's safer to be bitten by a dog rather than a human. Once dogs are vaccinated they are perfectly safe to interact with. It was only back in ancient times when there was no cure for rabies did the Prophet act quickly to prevent more people getting it by declaring dogs are garam. We have a dog who is up to date with vaccinations. I personally train our dog not to leak me, not to jump on me and she follows. The reason I trained her to behave this way, is that whenever our dog gets too close to me it feels like a magnetic field disruption around me and that makes me uncomfortable. However, I can stroke her briefly, feed her, give her clean water and clean after her because she is unable to do so. I make sure that I keep the house clean and burn incenses. The dog is happy and I am happy.

In the early times of islam people had dogs either for herding/guarding/work OR people had dogs in the house to use for religious rituals or black magic. In the Persian empire and around, it was common to have a "housedog". That dog was used for black magic and has nothing to do with dogs as pets. That is why islam has hadiths saying you can't have a dog in the house other than herding/ guarding/ work. These text not allowing dogs are about black magic. You can't keep a dog for black magic and similar rituals. That is what it means. Second, about the saliva, saliva is not considered impure acording to islam. Only: if a dog licks your plates or cups (that you eat of) then wash it 7 times. This has nothing to do with "impurity" it is just hygene especially in a time where there were stray/ wild dogs who could have rabiës.
Our Holy Quran speaks of a dog as a companion in surah Al Kahf, where the dog is one of the just youths that hide in the cave. There is nothing wrong with them having, being with a dog. And in the time of the first muslims, dogs would freely walk in and out of the mosque, people would pray and nobody would clean the places touched by the dogs.

I just came from watching Dr. Shabir Ally answer about dogs. He mentioned how dogs being prohibited in the Holy Quran is no where mentioned. He stated dogs were used for hunting and we are allowed to eat the meat from the hunting where dogs obviously carry in their mouth.
IF something it's not specifically mention in the Holly Quran, I have a hard time believing others.
I don't like pets in the house, I often think dogs smell bad and don't really like to pet them but them being forbidden would want me to truly understand the reason behind it.
IF something is not specifically mentioned in holy Quran , we turn to our Prophet (pbuh). Because in Quran Allah didn’t mention everything or mentioned in hints mostly other than the base points which are clear. Like Allah said to pray. Our Prophet (pbuh) taught every details of prayer. He said dogs are not allowed as house pet, we have to obey. Otherwise our prayers, fasting, hajj, zakat everything is invalid if the prophet (pbuh) is wrong, Nauzubillah.
2 Hadits of our Prophet (pbuh):
#Al-Bukhaari (2145) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Whoever keeps a dog, a qiraat from his good deeds will be deducted every day, except a dog for farming or herding livestock.”
#Ibn Maajah (3640) narrated from ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him) that Prophet (pbuh) said: “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.
The Quran specifically states on many many many occasions to follow "Allah and follow Muhammed(saw)" . Never does it just say Follow Allah(swt).
Dr Shabir didn't speak on keeping dogs as pets. I also watched his video and I believe Dr Zakir's answer is more elaborative.
They can't be kept inside because they are dirty, their saliva, other liquids etc they lick and rub against everything in the house and smell bad, that's plenty of reasons...

I have two muslim friends who were born into the faith who keep dogs as pets and while I kept my thoughts to myself I thought to myself how strange...actually, on reflection, when I first converted, I visited a so-called muslim home who had a picture of a dog, and again it freaked me out, and 'boy!' did I get some push back from some of the so called muslims...in my early years

I'm trying to answer you questions based on what I know, to answer your first question; There are 7 animals that are definitely get to heaven among them are the prophet saleh camel, the companion of al-Kahfi's dog, the bird of Sulaiman and others, while most of the other animals only become soil again when they have received the justice between them in the day of judgments.
And the 2nd is: In jannah there is no term for sections, it depends on the wishes of the owner of jannah if he wants his animal to return to his side then it will be as it was, even more perfect and more beautiful.
third; if the master is in hell then the master must undergo his punishment first until his sins are clean but if the master acts justly and takes care of him with love even though the master has a lot of sins will be reduced in proportion to the good deed that he did in this world, the last; Rasulullah s.a.w was given a choice by his god whether to stay with his people and also lead them until the end of the world or return to his creator? Rasulullah s.a.w loves and misses his Lord very much and he chooses get back to his Lord.. but for the ummah Rasulullah s.a.w has left us Quran, Hadith and Sunnah for us follow, i hope this will answer you questions, sorry it take 4 years to answer you questions😊

Exactly. In the early times of islam people had dogs either for herding/guarding/work OR people had dogs in the house to use for religious rituals or black magic. In the Persian empire and around, it was common to have a "housedog" for black magic. That is why islam has hadiths saying you can't have a dog in the house other than herding/ guarding/ work. These text not allowing dogs are about black magic. You can't keep a dog for black magic and similar rituals. That is what it means. Second, about the saliva, saliva is not considered impure acording to islam. Only: if a dog licks your plates or cups (that you eat of) then wash it 7 times. This has nothing to do with "impurity" it is just hygene especially in a time where there were stray/ wild dogs who could have rabiës.

Disagree. There's a difference between keeping a dog as a pet, and owning one. Quran actually speaks positively of dogs. They can be used for guarding and hunting purposes. They are known as mans best friend for a reason. Other scholars agree with this.

Ok let’s say for the sake of argument that dogs do carry diseases in their saliva, (which btw many other animals do to including human beings), why did allah specify only dogs to be haram and not other animals?
Wouldn’t allah already knew, since he is omniscient, that later in the future we will have better medical treatments to treat many kind of illnesses that would render this argument of dogs carrying diseases invalid?
If allah is really true and omniscient he would have at least made a provision lifting the ban on dogs until such time when modern medicine could provide cures for such diseases. That to me would be an omniscient god unlike this petty god who made innocent animals like dogs haram. Ridiculous!!
I thought of the same thing too. That's why i decided to judge what is haram and halal by myself. The way i do this is i check if there is any explicit verse in the quran regarding prohibition of certain things. If there aren't then i go to the hadiths. If the hadith doesnt make sense i.e there's no proper and scientific evidence to support it, i just makr fatwa for myself. I know it's wrong to do so but in the world we are living in different people have so many different opinions to the point that if the average person were to try and do EXTREME research he/ she would probably go crazy or have a mental breakdown.
I also feel as if Allah should have sent Muhammad (SAW) in an era where a method of recording audio and/ or video were available i.e in the 20th century or so. If it were like that then there would be less ambiguity about what the prophet forbade and what he didn't since we would have video/ audio evidence.

Firstly, I've never heard a major scholar saying that the definitive reason dogs are not permissable to keep as pets is due to their diseases or because its saliva is impure. That is a mistake on zakirs part.
I believe Zakir was just making a rational point about the dogs saliva because dogs always have their tongues out.
The reason we don't eat pork is because its forbidden, we don't rationalise it.
The hadith clearly state that angels do not enter homes where dogs are present. That is a good enough reason not to keep them.
