Hi Andrew cars up for sale currently. Owner was happy where it was. No dragy times etc. Sorry bud, owner didn’t want to launch till potentially new clutch goes in soon if he does keep.
406 isn’t low for a stage 2 map mate torque is 426ftlb which is high for stage 2 numbers, had a tte470 but sold it when I decided enough was enough with spending
Robert Chetwyn we have a lot of GTI’s with bigger than K04 making a lot more. A lot of us don’t upgrade internals unless we are making more power than that anyways so the money could’ve been used elsewhere and other things like that, in my opinion. So Id definitely personally say it’s not a lot, and that’s just me. That’s not even getting into big turbo applications for ea113 and ea888s where you would need those rods and pistons. But as long as your happy with your car, that’s all that matters. I don’t have a gti, or golf R , I just have a A3 Quattro, but with a gtx3076r installed tho. Maybe it’s cause your using an OTS tune that I’m thinking it’s low, I switched from unitronic stage 3 big turbo to custom tuning. I may be comparing it to custom tuned ones in the groups for our cars.
I have an earlier 2016 in this exact same colour, bought it just before Christmas 22.plan is to hit 400hp safely, have some of the supporting mods but no where near all. If I could get to 5/600bhp is be curoousb
I've got the 3 door manual in same color lovely car but went bola bronze on the pretz wheels with 12mm rear spacers and 8 on the front, going for 400bhp but want 600 eventually if financially viable
Sick vid and man after seeing this I miss my R! It also doesn’t have that fart sound usually Gti’s and R’s regardless of manual or auto has those farts between shifts.
Manual or I'd rather be the passenger. I experience traffic jams daily in my manual turbodiesel yaris and the clutch is heavy af. I don't mind it. Literally, I found a '92 subaru justy with 54 bhp to be more engaging next to a DSG GTI. There's just something about analog cars that modern ones can't replicate.
I know this video is old maybe you'll see this post and know the answer - can you clarify what clutch setups this guy has gone through? I'm looking at a 2017 R 6spd Stage 3 with a hybrid turbo, tons of mods, it has a Sachs 4 puck. I got worried with the owner here saying none of the clutches can handle the torque unless you go single mass :O
My friend has a mk3 cupra sitting at 456bhp and he uses an Rts 5 paddle with his DMF. Been in the car for nearly a year (8k miles) with no slip and far closer to oem pedal feel than you would expect!
We did touch on it. Poor Rob gets it In the neck for them. But if he likes them then that’s cool. I’ve seen quite few Golf R with tips like that. Not sure if it’s a thing ?
I recently bought a golf r manual and to be honest it doesn’t hold up to it’s rep in my opinion yeah it’s fast but the clutch is just awful (not slipping) can not handle the stock power. I have a focus st mk3 which I had before the R thinking I was upgrading to the golf but to be honest they’re pretty even cars (focus on stage 1 running 275bhp, no bolt ons) I think the r would do it off the line but in a rolling I think I’d go for the focus every time and the handling in the focus is just insane, the golf r handling is equal to my golf tdi 1.6 I think. I like the 5 modes you can switch between and to be fair you do feel the difference in all of them. The golf is alot better daily but I didn’t buy it as a daily I bought it as my toy essentially but i Just dont have as much fun init like I do the focus, the fit and finish is wicked in the golf don’t get me wrong it’s a lovely car but I think a tad over rated and the fact that people compare the R to the focus RS makes me realise how good the ST is after driving an R for a while because owning the two at one time and being able to chop and change between the 2. I am going to buy a new Sachs clutch for the Golf and hope that does change my opinion slightly but as it stands I’m not arsed about keeping it I think for almost half the price in some cases the focus is defo a lot of bargain for buck. The brakes on the focus are awful tho I would say that but spend 1000 on RS brakes and you’re fine. Can stage 1 a focus on a few hundred pound to stage 1 my golf now it’s going to cost me like 1750 granted it will give me a lot more power than a focus stage 1, but cost you like 2000 to go stage 2 on the focus to get it to around 350, the clutch and gear box in the focus can just go so far. If I had known what the clutch was really going to be like I would have went for the DSG all day because it’s just a different car in my opinion
DSG is a much better all around experience. Brutal changes and can handle much more power without the constant need for changing clutch’s etc. Do rate Fords a lot too!
@@CJK20 yeah reading the comments someone said he’s been threw 4 Sachs clutches? Surely may aswell just stick with a stock clutch then if that can’t handle the power neither? Why has been through so many?
Tbh dsg is sick for everyday driving, I had an octavia vrs dsg and it was awesome however I just missed changing gears soo much, Got a kia ceed diesel now and its more involving fun to drive
Agreed, I think DSG is superb for like straight line acceleration and just comfy laid back driving but as far as like feeling connected to car etc nothing like banging gears !
DSG great for vicars and the disabled. Manual for drivers who know how to drive, rev matching etc and get the most fun out of a car. I’ve had a DSG, it was great but just sounds boring and predictable. DSG cannot anticipate that corner or sharp bend ahead so manuals are far superior in that aspect. If you buy a DSG out of warranty make sure you have circa 5k under your mattress for when it fails.
Yeah I don’t blame you. If the owner had gone for a mega clutch to start he would probably have been fine but obviously DSG that’s not something you need worry about.
this guy is likely buying organic plate clutches which cant handle the torque past 400FT-lbs. These clutches however feel OEM and are great for daily use..... unlike sintred plated clutches which are quite heavy but can withstand waay more torque
Hi mate first one was organic Sachs shat itself after 10k others have been sintered paddle also Sachs. Single mass will be going in soon as think this one is now going again.
CJK20 I’ve driven sticks my whole life. In fact the last manual I bought was an S2000 over the first iteration of the DSG in the R32. When the MKVII came out they got something PERFECT. This car in my opinion was designed around the DSG. From a performance perspective all specs being the same. Add-on for add-on, it’s lightening in a bottle. It’s a totally different car. I’ll add the stock clutch can barely handle the power it has. The manual transmission is a sloppy mess. How’s that launch control working in a manual?
Bonnet vents were actually from eBay tbf mate Halfords were out of stock everyone bought them for their 1.0 fiestas unfortunately, the exhaust is miltek until back box as it sounded like a Jhon deer tractor straight through and with a young child wasn’t fair, so this was the replacement also an eBay speciality, I agree with you though I didn’t like them but they grew on me, no pun intended 😂 Thanks for watching
