0:33 I think you face that line so often because it's recommended by Simon Williams (playing Bc4 and then d3 instead of d4, to prevent pressure on the d-pawn)
No f*c%ing way! Again?? Silky smooth until the pawn conundrum (while chatting with imaginary friends...) and then an ooopsie...but victory! Incredible, John. Just freakin' incredible...
Interesting endgame! If you take the exchange instead of the bishop, is there not a certain similarity to the famous endgame in the Alekhine-Tartakower game in Vienna in 1922? Alekhine remarked that Tartakower's pawns, on the same color squares as his bishop, were "inoffensive," being easily blockaded by Alekhine's king while his rook could attack from behind. Of course, even if this reasoning leads to the conclusion that taking the exchange is easily winning, you still have to work out why taking the piece instead gives White counterplay.
@@JohnBartholomewChess is there a reason for it? I myself I'm roughly 1500 elo and I score good with QD8( your course) and QD6 without knowing an awful lot of lines. QA5 is something I would love to learn in the near future as wel. Is it still oke to put your Queen on A5, pawns on C6 E6 Bishop F5 knight on F6? Or is the C6 pawn something you need to be carefull about? Thanks for your reply
Just wanted to say, saw your website and looks great! Joined the waitlist to be coached by you. Hopefully we can work together some day. Keep up all the awesome work and videos!
It's so easy to burn time when you are realizing the evaluation of the position has changed. Where's the win? Oh right there isn't one. Wait I've just been discarding all lines that aren't wins... which one was the best?
People like to say John Bartholomew posts scripted/staged/fake content. My question to you is... how could this possibly be scripted? It would be pretty difficult to script a game like this.
@@JohnBartholomewChess I heard it from a few people who play at some parks around NY. I also saw someone saying it on a YT live stream one time. Ignore the haters bro. You are doing great.
Personally I am a bit afraid of kingside castling when they have the open file to attack down, so that's why I usually go queenside in positions like this.

Love your content, but this has way too much of the chat interrupting the experience. Makes it impossible to watch. It's like listening to someone talk on their phone. This time would be better spent talking about the game
Your time management may not be so impressive, but your ability to maintain your cool under extreme time pressure is honestly amazing.
Bedtime can wait.
Put on a pot of ☕️ if you need it 👍

No no! Now it’s bedtime 😅 John lulls me to bed more than I’d like to admit
Thank you John. You continue to produce quality content, greetings from Australia.

I love Scandinavian Defense, I play it very often. You present it very well, it's a pleasure to watch how you do it. Greetings from Serbia
Thanks a lot - cheers!
The clock might be a weapon, but you're supposed to point weapons at your enemies, not yourself.

I feel like I need a shower after that one.
Always sad to see John not using the full resource of the clock throughout the game and ending up with a walloping .58 seconds.
Hey John, watching you from Reykjavik, needed some relaxing chess time... but, um... wow!
@JohnBartholomewChess ve you ever played QD6? Or just Qa5 abs QD8? Nice game
Thanks!
I almost never play 3...Qd6, but I want to learn it next 💪

That was an exciting game! Can this please be a new series on your channel - 'Premoving Immortally' 😅
That was filthy John Bartholome, filthy
winning on time, now that is surprising
Final heart rate was may be over 160 bpm.. GG John..❤️❤️
Spending 3 minutes on trivial difference on piece up position and premove the whole entire 20 last move is like me before math exam.

While it could be technically improved (example: why does the menu bar re-render when changing the site), the design is great. :)

Very helpful line, was just studying this line now i know for sure. When does your course come out john? or am i behind on this sorry.
Thanks for watching! I haven't set it a release date for the course yet, but it's in progress :)

From my perspective, please don’t put the chat on screen! It is distracting and I much prefer to focus on the game. Love your videos John ❤
I miss the old ..Qd8 John. He had me convinced that was as good as the old tried and true 3..Qa5.
Relevant username.

what an ending.... :))
I kept thinking, take the Rook, take the Rook! Oh, the Bishop?
In this game, would it have been better to castle Kingside instead?
Personally I am a bit afraid of kingside castling when they have the open file to attack down, so that's why I usually go queenside in positions like this.
What?? How the hell did you do that? Wow.
I couldn't work out how on earth 0.5s ended up beating 15s even with premoving, and then I remembered it's lichess! 😂
Glad you took the bishop free and clear. But taking the rook probably would have been just as good.

😂
Used the clock as a weapon and won.
2 minutes and 20 seconds on move 33....You'll be getting a bill from my psychiatrist, John
I get so many quick wins in this line but I play ...Bg4 in one move and pray for d3
didnt congradulate opponent who played well
That was ridiculous lol
Omg that was amazing 😂😂
justice for graho lol
YES YES
That poor guy lol
OH MY GOD
Great game. Thank you for commentary. Please don't put chat on screen
John… you need a shower after this!!
Talking to imaginary people? No, that usually only happens after too much bullet chess
Only slightly staged...
did not congrad opponent who played well
