I was one of about 50 people in the crowd watching this match. Even then Sinner's forehand was something to behold. I was sad when the Budapest Open was unable to continue to exist. I loved all three events and got to see some great matches and early appearances of players like Pouille, Berrettini and Sinner.

Actually he’s playing the same game now as well. But with more power, more precision, more fitness, supreme movement on court. It’s great to see how compressed his forehand and backhand were at 17 and the power he was able to generate.

That's the curse of being better than everybody else ig. I'm sure he has a good support system in his friends and family who make him feel good about his achievements. He was always going to excel at whatever he chose and we're lucky he chose tennis. I hope someone rises up to his level and poses some real challenge

    • @shanequa555

How many times does he have to tell you people! Sinner has repeated it a thousand times on court, at press conferences, in public, that the end goal is not just for winning. or money; these are simply by-products. It's the work for work's sake and he has determined that the only value in it, is in its ability to be adapted, improved, etc.
I thought he made it quite clear to everyone time and time again that he is really just a simple tennis player whose finds life's only true value in family, friends, food etc..
He keeps saying this! Why does no one believe him?!?

He looked really young, I remember in 2019-20 in Italy we talked about that a lot: you could tell he had enormous margins for improvement because he wasn't even fully developed. Like Alcaraz at 15 looked older than Sinner at 17 (also he started playing tennis continously only 4 years before)

That's precisely why people mistakenly believed in the past (and still do today) that other youngsters, like Alcaraz or Rune, had a higher ceiling. Nope, Sinner has the highest ceiling, having started playing tennis seriously much later. And the rate at which he's currently improving is there to show it.
