I was not looking forward to watching this one (it was my first Varda film). I knew about her, but not much about her reputation. I just judged this movie was a mid 80s film, which I used to think was an uninteresting decade for film. I was intrigued at the pace of the movie and how it started off. I loved the pseudo documentary feel of the talking head interviews and how some of the stories are somewhat linked. When the film ended, I was left shocked at how flawless it was. I was also shocked when I finally watched Cleo from 5 to 7 and realized that it too was a perfect film. Most filmmakers will never make one masterpiece in their entire career. Varda made 2. She was a genius who introduced an entirely fresh way of using cinema to tell a story. I need to rewatch this gem.

I liked your lighting set up for the talking head portion! The concept here was well explained too. I haven’t looked it up yet but I am almost 100% sure that Vagabond was shot on Kodak Vision stock since I’ve taken photos with it before. The colors look so familiar.
