Hi there-- I don't play so often isn New York these days, but every once in a while! Mostly at summer festivals and when traveling overseas... my position at the University of Michigan keeps me very busy during the school year!
I'm love with this piece and this interpretation has me in tears. I'm trying to learn it myself, but it's slow going, I'm a violinist turned anaesthetist, so it's a new adventure for me. You make it look effortless and I can really feel the water interpretation, especially during the "moines Rigoureux" section. It calms the storm and makes me think of gentle rains and waterfalls back in the rainforests of Washington. 😭 Simply divine.
I've searched out every performance of this piece that I can find, since I'm about to play it (in a recital at a nursing home), and this, IMO, is the very best. A perfect balance of "net et vif" (the composer's direction) and smooth, expressive momentum. I've picked up countless ideas from your performance. Thank you!
