Mobile Menu Entry Swapper and the new Mobile UI will be coming on October 9th! Learn more about the HD, the official Plugin project, and more osrs.game/HD-API-MobileUI-Updates
Just take a moment to consider how far we have come. Starting back in 2013 with almost no dev team and no resizable client, now a solid MMORPG outperforming RS3 massively.
Enjoy it whilst it lasts, mtx will be coming soon if the game doesn’t grow, jmods need paying and shareholders need to get paid. Its only a matter of time I think.
They don't have to grow in order to be a cash cow, the game already asks you to pay monthly for every account you want membership on. Adding MTX will invalidate all value in actually playing the game. If you can buy everything, this whole 'look at what I achieved' is worthless.
I'm praying that the new mobile UI is not what we beta tested though. The current UI is much better for bossing than that mess and the beta UI was way too right thumb heavy. It needs a good balance.
If they do HD the right way they could make OSRS look polished and modern while keeping the charm of the original game. Look at Nintendo, they release games like this over and over.

I would be cool if there was a time of day option that synced up the lighting with the in-game clock. That way the time of day stayed consistent as you went to different areas. It would also be nice to have an option to dim ui elements after time to save our screens from burnout. As as example you could set it so after 20 seconds of no interaction the ui elements would slowly get more transparent.
@@DisobeyZOG no money for a new computer, it’s not as bad as it seems you get used to it pretty quickly so far the only things I really wish I had are in this video (menu swapper and tile markers)
Astounding work from the OSRS team. Menu-entry swapper is truly going to be game changing and was honestly my most difficult part of playing on the go!
Mobile is actually better for some activities, like fletching darts where you have to click from one item to the next as fast as possible to maximize xp. Also for some reason, you can hop the same tick you steal from a stall on mobile, but not on runelite
As a mobile player for 95% of the time, I’m so excited for these new updates! Tile markers and menu entry swapper will be a great QoL improvement and make those pesky raids and bosses a little bit easier to do on mobile. Love your work!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE UI UPDATE! As someone who runs 10 fps on my pc, Samsung dex offers the ability to run amazingly. However having my prayer and spells on the left is difficult. I'm gonna finally be able to do inferno now! Thank you! And the menu entry swapper and tile markers
The thing HD plugins always get wrong IMO is shadows. At 0:37, this is an indoor room, right? This looks as if shadows were being cast by the sun. Indoors shadows need to be less directional to give the illusion that there are other light sources in there, otherwise it looks janky.
One issue I can foresee is that most rooms were not designed with light sources in mind. Maybe they can use point lights from "somewhere in the celling" indoors, when there are no obvious sources of light to work with?
The thing is that locations in Runescape only mimic being indoors. The shadows you see there are from a light source inside the treasure room near the entrance, that is why the shadows are being cast that way. Yes this is pre-alpha, but we must keep in mind that some decisions are made for artistic reasons and accessibility in mind. So places could be "unrealistically" lit to give it a certain look or to just make it easier to see. I still hope they give us options to tune in lighting to our own personal tastes however! I do love the gloomy dark aesthetic :D
As a part of sailing I really wish they'd introduce a wading mechanic which allows you to go into shallow water and stuff. A lot of new players seem to be interested and wonder if they can just wade into the shallows of water, so it'd be a nice immersion thing to add for them.
Is there a setting to increase logout timer and logout timer when swapped to a different app? iPhone user here. Quest guides or wiki makes me auto log after 30 seconds
unfortunately they said that is phone specific & cant do anything abt it. when you open another app, iphone kills the app you put in the background so to speak, severing your connection to the server. they cant change it
i like the hd water, however it makes the rivers banks now just kind of blend with the water. So if there can be some kind of modification to show some kind of erosion from the "flow" of the water then i would thing that would help revome that feeling.
For stretched mode and HD, could you make it so the UI scaling doesn't make everything super blurry or pixilated? I play on a 2k monitor and it can take away from the experience when the UI looks bad cause it's stretched 30-50%
Mobile got me back into osrs and the ability to play whilst away from pc definitely keeps me up with the game… easier mobile gets to use the more I will play osrs period
The graphics are solid and timeless in my opinion. I think the look of OSRS is so much better than any other MMO. Its visually appealling and doesnt strain the eye. @@reapermox3704

Bolt Launcher works great but we're limited to HDOS or an occasionally stuttery RuneLite. tbf I've played over 1k hours on it, but it would be nice if we could at least have the Steam client work properly through Proton. 5:30 make sure the new update does the puzzle boxes!! I hate just switching to PC so I can solve the thing. I don't have an hour to spend moving tiles around
Looks like the convenient finger-rollover technique on 16:9 phones will be disappearing :( Putting the UI edge-distance slider to the max used to leave 0px for mistaps at the edge of the screen, so you could just roll a finger over to very easily switch to a different menu, but the xp tracker update, even when disabled, broke that for every element on the right side of the screen, and now it looks this huge QOL is going to disappear entirely with the UI update next month.

Love the overall look of the HD Mode--especially since I have some nitpicks with the way the 117 mod is implemented (no shade), but I have a few questions here: Is it possible that, alongside the HD Mode being introduced, we could see (optional) model changes for things like trees, buildings, ect in legacy content, in order to better match the game's newer areas. As-is, there's a bit of a strange juxtaposition between newer content (which typically features polygonal detail as opposed to texture detail) and older content (which occasionally uses texture detail to introduce detail to things like farmable trees, some building walls, ect.) Alongside this smooth, modern lighting style, it would be awesome to see some of these older, anachronistic models updated to better suit the game's current aesthetics. I don't expect a complete legacy content glow-up, or anything like that, but simple (again, optional) model swaps for various types of trees, and buildings tilesets, would be amazing. Oh! Also, would it be possible to see toggleable color banding in HD Mode? I love the overall settings, but I personally think that color banding helped tie together the overall aesthetic, and made the ground appear much more detailed and hand-painted.
