      Stress,tension and anxiety, especially on the first tee always creeps into my swing even after some time on the practice tee. From watching Brian’s videos for years and now yours I know what to do and not to do but more often than not, simply get up and lose the first ball. The stress gone , now a second ball goes out straight or a slight draw. (my bad shot is a hook) Stress is mostly gone. At 76 I am still playing thanks to Brian’s and your method of the Easiest Swing program. Thanks for tips.🇨🇦👍👨‍🦳

    As always, an excellent demonstration and explanation Phil about rushing the swing! I like your suggestion of thinking "forward swing, not downswing!" I'm definitely going to rethink the start of my "forward" swing and remove the tension that I have been plagued by. Well Done Phil! Always enjoy your submissions!!!

      It is a down swing as you drop the hands first, and then your forward bit starts. Allowing the hands to drop is very difficult for most. I like Adam Scotts thoughts, he says let your back swing mature, so stops the rushing from the top. Once you wait at the top, it gives you time to drop your hands before adding power, obviously as your hands drop, the hips are already rotating.

    A very relevant lesson. I wonder if a lighter grip tension also encourages a better,slower start to the forward swing? Thank you for your valuable insights, they are always welcome☘️

    • @Easiestswing

      Absolutely Niall - as you let go of tension your speed needs to adjust accordingly freeing you to accelerate the club through the ball. 👍

    Perfect information ,nice to see you following on from Brian . Just a couple questions . Does the REALEASE happen naturally with a relaxed swing ? And secondly do you try for more speed to add distance or is the whole swing relaxed from start to finish ? Thank you in advance for any answers

    • @satyas1187
      @satyas1187 Місяць тому +1

      My understanding is, one has to follow natural pattern of relaxed start (down swing), building momentum as per natural ability and rhythm (forward swing) and slow down (follow through) ... I tried everything relaxed, and the results are pretty low ...! Additionally more speed in forward swing will definitely improve distance, but the whole pattern need to get accelerated, not just forward swing!!

    So much to be gained by following this technique. My game is much better when I'm not casting from the top, trying to be "stronger & longer". Relaxing, giving myself the time to get through the ball provides much better results. Thank you for this tip.

    I have mentioned before that I broke my left Thumb a few weeks back. Have played a lot of golf one handed The last weeks. One of The discoveries is that you can not and will not rush The swing one handed. Of Course I hit the ball shorter, but also straighter. I will always do some one hand practice in The future😊

      Six years ago I broke my left wrist and had it rebroken, pinned and plated so played with right hand only for six months while it recovered. Three years ago I had a triple option on my right shoulder and so played for six months left handed while it recovered and I found both ways exactly as you said any rush on the way down and it ruined the shot but if you relax and let it swing it works beautifully. Great comment thanks 🙏

    I remember discussing this with Brian, saying that in my opinion if we have a back swing then it must be a forward swing. If one refers to the forward movement as a downswing then the back movement has to be called an upswing!

    Funnily enough I was at the driving range today and started doing this before I came across the video. I dound Easiest Swing about two months ago after coming off my motorbike, having surgery on my left hand and a couple of meniscus tears and tendon tear in my left knee. I've also bought and read both of the Easiest Swing books and have been trying to put the concepts i to practice.
    Today I focused purely on trying to remove tension (one of the big concepts that resonated with me). I found on the range that the desire to hit the ball hard and far created both mental tension and physical tension in my grip and ended up rushing from the top and getting tops, hooks and slices.
    What worked for me was consciously trying to relax and loosen up starting at address and only trying to accelerate a bit through impact. Results were astonishing, not just in diatance but also in dispersion. I then put my driver back in the bag to see if I could get similar results with my irons. Well the answer is Yes!
    I'm now recommending Easiest Swing to all my golfing buddies!

At 80 with the additional problem of being disabled and playing from a seated position on a SoloRider cart, I have difficulty in getting a lot of clubhead speed. First of all, I love the concept of ES. The explanations of why and what happens during the swing make sense. However, saying to slow down, let the club do it's thing, etc is great but for me I'm looking for a bit more "see Dick and Jane run" direction....HOW do i get to slow down? If my heel is raised during the take-away, where is it in relation to my hips and shoulders on the forward swing? Are they related? I'm looking for a key to start the forward swing....slowly....(ps - when good contact is made, it's wonderful but my bad shots now go RIGHT (push/slice/cut) instead of left)

    @buddhatbay9041 Місяць тому

    I don't know that I would characterize this as a rushed swing. I might call it a harder swing. I think the golfer (myself included) is trying to crush the ball and we end up taking a rip at it and this is causing us to get out of balance with our swing leading to poor ball striking efficiency (ie. low smash factor). Maybe it's due to poor muscle memory...definitely tension is involved. After all, you don't see long driver competitors taking slow relaxed swings...

    Thanks for this great information. I know that you don't emphasize technique and positions, but I have a couple of "techy" questions. I'm 76; 5'8", 150 lbs. How long should my driver be? The one I have has 13 degrees of loft, which should be plenty and it's 45-1/2" long. Second, I have trouble staying in posture. I frequently stand up of "early extend" . I've been watching you videos, but don't see anything about this.
    Regards, Jim in the US.

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Jim thanks for bringing a couple of left field questions! Firstly, regarding your driver the 13° loft sounds good but 45.5” is only .5” less than the maximum allowed length. I suspect this is your issue - that it is too long for you and it is affecting your posture and weight shift as a consequence. You don’t need to get it shortened but put a strip of electrical tape an inch down from the end and make sure you grip below it. Then try 1.5” and even 2” and see how you get on. Ultimately you’ll find a length that feels right. Then go see a club fitter and get it shortened to that length. They will advise you on shaft flex and swing weight, both of which are affected by shortening the shaft but I’m sure once you have those details sorted you will be much happier. As far as your issue through the ball do you feel this is what is happening or is this just what your golf buddies say? Be very cautious about this as I have seen many a golfer ruin their game as a consequence of trying to rectify something they are not actually doing wrong. Take a look at Annika Sorenstam’s swing and note the freedom she has because she doesn’t try and stay down in fact does the reverse. Hard to say without seeing you but I reckon with the adjustment in the driver and that freedom you will be fine!

    • @jimshaffer2791
      @jimshaffer2791 Місяць тому

      Thanks for answering so quickly. I guess we all go into left field from time time. Not a place to stay though. Your answer on the driver length supports what I've been thinking. I'll try your suggestion. As far as the other problem goes, this is something I've felt . No one has told me that I'm doing it. I suspect I may not be transferring my weight properly.@@Easiestswing

      Firstly, thanks for the compliments!! - regarding your questions I’d suggest experimenting and discover what happens when you do relax throughout the swing. Does the club head still accelerate in an effortless fashion? This is for you to find out for yourself. Remember that in ES we are not prescriptive because we understand no two people are the same we just suggest principles that you can adopt and follow and find your own best solution.
