Goat Sanctuary PT.2 ... I Ran Into One Issue With This Harbor Freight Auger I cant Stand !

  • We had a change of plans again and more material was needed to expand the area even more. We put the Harbor Freight Auger to work as we keep running into roots and fighting through them. But one thing i can say this isn't as easy as I thought it would be.

      I'm thankful my grandparents (RIP) from Alabama & Texas taught me hard work before I even joined the military. Most these kids from California where I'm from don't have any idea how to work any kind of motor driven equipment other than a car. All they know how to do is look out the window at all gardeners their parents hire to do their yards. Oh yea, and play Playstation & Xbox. If you can get them to come out the house to do ANYTHING other than go shopping, you might have a winner. So yea I love to see anybody teaching hard work to these kids these days.

    Of course we're stickin with ya. When I wake up in the middle of the night and start chuckling about some of the roasting video I watched two days previous, (stuck like glue in my memory) you're worth your weight in gold. You add a new dimension that not many others have and it's fun. I also like the serious side of you and the honest and fair reviews on your equipment. You got it all. 🇺🇸

    Predator makes auger extensions. I have the same auger with the extension and it works great. I was able to drill 2 1/2 - 3 foot deep holes for the 10 foot fence post. It did 38 holes with ease. My neighbor borrowed it for a job and it made the his workday much easier.

    I just bought one a month ago to plant a hedge row of Ligustrum shrubs. I also used it to drill some shallow holes to plant a bunch of St. Augustine grass plugs. The HF auger is a beast and a definite time saver. I only run 50:1 Tru-Fuel in mine, no gasoline.

    You are the third video I watched about this auger. I returned mine this morning because I could NOT get it to start. I meticulously followed the instructions on how to start it. The very first instruction is to lay the machine on it's side. Not one of you 3 guys read the instructions, let alone follow them. And yet the machine started for you all. You had to pull the most, but once you switched the choke it started right up for you. Talk about frustrated!!

    • @SunnySlopeHomestead
      @SunnySlopeHomestead  3 роки тому

      Yeah it’s a cheap pain but got the job done. I found if you pump it 5x and pull 5x with choke on and switch to the off position then switch it on with choke off she will start

    • @DoctorColg8
      @DoctorColg8 3 роки тому +1

      My 2 strokes used to give me issues until I mastered my echo chainsaw. My trick. CHOKE it til she tries to kick once, then switch to RUN and pull 1-2x.
      Sometimes if you flood it (having short start stop intervals, vac issue, etc), switch it to RUN and pull 20x with full throttle. (Remember to remove the auger bit and create a free spin platform to pull on... you don't want your bit spinning full bore when she starts.

  • @1stFlyingeagle
    @1stFlyingeagle 2 роки тому +2

    I beat my harbor freight auger. I have had to replace the pull start and found that on Amazon for $5.00 and the other thing is make sure the two carb mounting screws stay tight. When they loosen auger runs poorly and hard starting.

      @@SunnySlopeHomestead I got a 52 cc auger here in Panama where I am building a fence. It was delivered with a 4 inch drill for my 2 inch metal tubing. I had one issue. Rocks! No matter where I marked my fence post with paint - between 2.50 and 3 meters. There were rocks! No way that auger was doing an inch if I didn’t get the smallest rocks away. I drilled 31 holes, 2 1/2 foot deep. Because I am disabled, I needed 2 weeks to drill, take out rocks and sand with my fingers. ( 4” don’t give you lots of space for a shovel so I used my fingers!) I can tell you that I was very happy when I was done. My fingers so sore that I couldn’t touch sand anymore. But if I hit a rock with that auger - the auger hit me on my legs like a kicking horse! So it has power and I think it is better to do it with 2 people.
