My dad was a trucker for over 50 years and he loved good country music like this. I just buried him a week ago today 6/01/2019 and I almost picked up the phone to call him today. Pops you are home now, mom has been waiting for you for awhile. Why don't you two sit for a spell and have a talk, she forgave you along time ago...we all did. Nobody's mad pop's you left us when our love for you made us forget about the past, and I think you knew it was all good. And that's why you knew it was time to go. 10-4 pops love you...your son.

Craig Morgan played at my son's Army Base Fort Sill Oklahoma. My son was in Basic training at the time. My son was so excited about this. Craig Morgan is a class act. What a beautiful song. It takes me back to my childhood. I can't even imagine what those young Army soldiers felt like when they heard it.

I was raised by my grandma, she was like a mother and a father to me. I lost her about a year ago to cancer. I’m serving in the Marine Corps now and I know I wouldn’t have gotten where I’m at without her. She was a saint. This song helps me find comfort when I need it. God bless you all.

Grew up on a farm, corn and cotton, early 60s, down a dirt road, near a small creek (never knew it's name) in south GA., and loved it. Many fond memories and this song brings em all back. Had to actually play outside for entertainment, OMG, lol, so many trees to climb...

I sang this song to my grandmother a day or two before she died of cancer. It was a very bittersweet moment. I still get choked up thinking about it or even hearing this song. Today makes 3 years she’s been gone. Rip Maw. I miss you and love you so damn much.

Bless this song, I was once homeless after a divorce. Slowly, and surely I recovered, by the Grace of God I am here and alive. Gained a college education, good career, and a place to live. I was homeless living in a porch of a vacant house with my mother and we spent so many hungry and lonely nights. and I know the both of us wish we was home. But we both are doing much better now even though we are 500 miles apart neither of us are homeless. My dad passed away on April 23rd 2014. I never heard this song until after he died, now every time I hear it, it makes me want to cry because I've so many great memories with him. HOME, for me, is mama making biscuits in the kitchen while me and dad were working outside in the hot sun, my dad helped me catch my first fish when I was just 3 years old, he taught me how to drive, how to work and be a man. A lot of you might not care about all this that I'm saying, but at the time, I never really thought about how much those moments would mean to me, I'll never get those precious moments back, but I still hold tight to the memories me and him had together, but I'll be with him again some day, until then, I know I'll never be HOME again

Oh, This Song! That's just where I was, after 3 suicide attempts from my four yr old daughter being kidnapped out of her bed at night! I was " almost home" when doctors and nurses brought me back to talk. I didn't have any answers, but I knew, I was Almost Home! Sure was a much better place than what I was presently living in. It's been about 26 years since I asked God to carry me because couldn't take those first steps on my own. I became addicted to all types of prescription medications. You quickly learn, What pills get you up and going, which ones keep you going and which ones put you down to rest, but you very seldom seek rest. I had a job and had to raise my other children. God heard my cries and answered my prayers. I vowed to God, If he would help me, I wouldn't over dose on pills again. Here I am, over 35 years later, I'm still searching for my daughter, and God is still watching over me. This song is a comfort in knowing, although I was "Almost Home", God has other plans for me. And I haven't finished searching for my daughter, Jessica. I hope when it is my time to go, God let's me see and feel like, I'm Almost Home! 🙏 ❤

I took care of my mother in law for the last 6 months if her life. She played this song constantly. The day she passed I played it for her. I'm sure she heard it. Every few months I listen to it and cry, not just because I miss her so much but I know she is home and happy.

This is the song that was "my song" when I was only 4 or 5 years old. I fell in love with the chorus, tho I didn't understand what it was talking about at the time, and every time we got in the car I begged my mom to search the radio for it. Years have passed and my mom and I have grown distant, but this song still holds a very special place in my heart.
The memories recalled on this song echo ones my grandfather shared with me so very long ago about his early childhood. He was everything to me. God knows how I need him now. Beautiful song. Make me snotty nosed everytime I hear it. Thanks for sharing those memories with me PaPa. I miss you and MeMe more than words could ever say. I'm a metalhead through and through but this song opened me up to country. I challenge ANYONE to listen to this, (or Brad Paisley's Whiskey Lullaby), and not be stirred. These type songs connect to something in our souls that I just can't quite explain and definitely can't get enough of.

As I watched my father in his last days, and missed the final day, ever time I heard this song, I could picture all the stories he told me about him, his brothers and his father fishing in Galveston or in some bar ditches around Houston. He was a 2 tour Vietnam veteran, and one helluva pops!!!!! It's almost 3 yrs and I wish I still had him. Every time I hear this song, I do!!!!!!!!

Folks, 56 yr., old irishman from rural S/E Kentucky, i posted how great the lyrics were so good in this song, & i don't know why, but i kept pondering over the lyrics, may have been the Holy Spirit just touching my heart as i started looking from a different perspective when the ol ' man said he was almost home. I just wonder if he was almost home in his dreams or almost home in heaven due to sleeping in those weather conditions, & just did't want to be woke up & just be left alone. Just because someone is homeless does not mean they have not been saved by Jesus Christ. Anyway, just a thought i wanted to share, God Bless you all

This song brings back crystal clear memories of my childhood along with all the wonderful people I associate with that carefree time. Most of them have passed away now but they live on in my memories. This song never gets old to me.

reminds me of walking down the dirt roads back in the sticks between Philadelphia and Dekalb Ms1960s. spending summer with my Grandparents. If time could only stand still.
This reminds me so much of my daddy. He died on skid row alley in Seattle Washington in December 1978. He died homeless. A WW2 Vet. I was stationed in Korea at the time and couldn’t make it back for the funeral. He had been missing for many years when they found him dead. So sad 😞.

This is one of those songs that will inevitably never be forgotten has such a great message on so many levels. I love this song and it makes me question what happen to the music industry.
