Céline was the first of the "vocal trinity" I heard. I used to battle between Céline and Mariah and Whitney ... until I learnt that loving them all is okay lol.
@@stanleysimmonsreactions9056 Celine debuted even earlier than Whitney. Her first album was in 1981, while Whitney's was in 1985. Just because it wasn't an English album, doesn't invalidate her singing career.
Whitney’s voice always gives me the goosebumps. It pierces through the soul. I think her style always reflects the emotion behind the song. There’s always a reason behind her runs, lyric phrasing, etc-they’re never superficial.
@@ralphanthonymallillin2712 she has been singing all of her life with vocal nodules and her recent performances are actually quite good. Nobody could stay the same forever, Céline has still an impressive voice but way less powerful than before (that’s normal lol) and the in the last years of Whitney’s life she couldn’t sustain a single note more than 1 second because she was totally damaged. Let’s appreciate the living legends we have now.
Whiney Houston to me the best of all time. I get goosebumps everytime Whitney sing. She would touch my soul. All great singers but, Whitney Houston was vocal n spirituals I felt her songs.
WH is my favorite. Extremely versatile voice, amazing storytelling ability, and unmatched stage presence and live performances. Vocal embellishments aside, I think she has the more naturally beautiful sounding voice/tone.
You're talking only about 1985-90 right? Cuz it's not so much true after 90 lol. And after 92 it was just random screeches and medicated mess. If you're talking only about 5-6 years then even Mariah was phenomenal. Ain't no "hands down Whitney" then.

Actually, her range improved and might still be improving. Back when she recorded All By Myself, her F5 (though insanely powerful) sounded like she has reached her limit. Now she can even mix a C6.
Sorry but no. Whitney distroyed her voice with drugs, but Mariah voice still super good. She had some bad years but is back on track. Celine sickness has made a toll on her voice.

For those of us that heard all 3 at their diva best. I think Celine's voice at her very peak was incomparable. She basically sounded unreal. However, I think Mariah's technique is the most difficult. That, IMO is why people rarely do a celine or a Mariah song at auditions. Most times you are graded for attempting. But I've seen a few Whitney covers really do justice to her songs. Not so with Celine or even rarer with Mariah.
Nobody can do justice to whitney whitney can outsing both of them even in 1999 whitney outsang mariah in when you believe idk what y talking abt ur clearly favorable
I don't even like this kind of music, a friend wants me to watch this, but to me, personally, Whitney is the biggest, although, I feel like singing like the most difficult Mariah's songs it could be really difficult to even get close. @@bangsawinski8149
When you say Vocal Trinity, theyre the absolute best. They are like the Goddesses of voice and no one is better than the other. They are equally the best in their own way so give them respect they deserve.
It’s not the Vocal Trinity, it’s Whitney and her copycats. 🤷🏻♂️ Sorry but all they did was put out songs that are Whitneyesque and vocals that are Whitneyesque. They basically copied her style in order to appeal to her audience. Whitney will always be the most legendary and iconic because of that. She was a true original.
@@whfan007 Ok c'mon let's not go CRAZY here...influence does NOT mean copying...Mariah may have some similarities but that's cuz they had similar musical influence...otherwise mariah is a COMPLETELY different style. love all three talented ladies, but overall I prefer Mariah. there is just something so enchanting in the way she utilizes her instrument, either in the studio or in a live setting. the way she does phrased belts, whistles, agile runs and not to mention that youthful and soothing tone.
my favorite is Mariah. I think that her biggest problem was consistency. She lack´s consistency because her nodules and because her type of voice is very fragile. Overall, I think she´s the best, agility on point, great lows, beautiful mix and very dinamic with the whistle. Without her nodules probably her stamina could have been better, but could have lost her whistle. By the way, i just love Whitney´s voice and how she performs, Celine isn´t my taste, very nasal for me but she´s great too.
I like Whitney´s mid belts up to Eb5, to chesty for my taste and is very noticeable in the upper area cause her voice was the most powerful, that´s why sometimes was strained, With Mariah i just love her placement in all her mix, she strain too but is less notorius cause her voice was very light, very soft. With Celine I love how she achieves her resonance in the mid belts, very piercing.

@Liz Smith Both are great in their own aspects, I prefer Mariah's songs over Whitney's since Mariah's songs are way more difficult. But there's something about Whitney's tone that takes it all, also her natural power and stamina. She was never inconsistent in her prime. So basically, the 👑 goes to: *The Vocal Trinity* ✨ They really set the bar incredibly high! Their exceptional vocal talent + monumental success + how influential they are is essentially unparalleled; I can't think of a set of three vocalists in the same era who have done this. Lovely video! Quite thorough & enlightening 💕 *P.S.* Your English is splendid plus you have an admirable accent! 💁
I admire them immensely. However, may I add that they were also lucky to have their careers at a moment where there were tons of talented songwriters who wrote them timeless songs.

I love all three BUT Whitney is the most awarded female artist of all time! Her voice was likened to a Stradivarius violen. The golden voice. The eighth Wonder of the world. She's the mother of the vocal trinity, imo.
Mariah is much more involved in her music. She does all the background vocals , writes her own music, there is something about mariah that is special... when she sings it’s like an angel
Yall talking about everything when this is about vocals...this debate is crazy enough but its less crazier than other things because its not too subjective; strictly about vocals...you talking about writing skills and such...
WHITNEY of course....Whitney has something VERY special in her voice that God could only give...her TONE could never be matched or duplicated....Whitney set the bar and will continue to be the "Best Singer" that this world has ever heard....its undeniable.....
I feel that! Whitney definitely is The Voice. Mariah on the other hand *is* the music imo. She wraps her vocal abilities around a whole song, and sings every little note that the song can possibly have, it's *incredible*!!!!!
Celine doesn't "rely" on nasal twang. It's because she's a francophone. When you grow up speaking French, your voice automatically becomes nasal because there are so many nasal sounds in French Only someone who has grown up that way or is fluent will understand that. I think if Celine grew up in a different household, her nasal twang would be less apparent.

It's a Whitney and Aretha world and then just the "others". While I like Mariah and Celine, what they can't bring to the stage is Whitney's gospel roots. Get Whitney going, that leg kicks out and there's no one on that stage except God Almighty and Whitney. Only real parallel is Aretha, Jennifer Hudson is really the only one who can be near their throne.
They are all great but, mariah's music is very extra, she's very hands on. She's the main singer, the back up, the melodies, the harmonies, and the music itself. That's why she has a lot of no.1

Part 2 pls! There are still more to talk about : Whitney’s amazing tonal quality and dynamics, Mariah’s incredible whistle register and Celine’s versatile placement.
Mariah is getting old, she can't hit the high notes anymore... she's almost 60 now. She lost her touch. and lost the sound of her whistle. Mariah in this year, is an old woman. She couldn't sing well, like She did when She was young. her vocals are irregular, her voice sounds heavy. we don't want to hear it anymore. and She often lipsync in last 7-8 years.
Whitney Houston when one looks at every facet of what makes an exceptional vocalist. Her dynamics, mastery of messa di voce ect. could rival even the most skilled classical singer.
Whitney Houston was incredible for pop standards but she couldn't rival the proficiency of a well trained classical singer like Eleanor Steber, Caballé, Nilsson, Verret etc. Operatic singing is a whole another level. When did she execute a messa di voce?
@@peterb6233 I have no doubt she had the tools but she wasn't there yet. Opera singers are bodybuilders of singing. She'd have to develop her registers to full potential and maximize pharyngeal resonance among other things. Whitney would be placed in a intermediate level category student.

Her five octave range is amazing and I love how she arranges it in her music. I just wish Mariah was respected more for what she does. Her efforts are really underrated and undervalued. But I love these three ladies, they change the game in the 90s and paved the way to the new artists...
@@goldranger5182 Technique≠Longevity The longevity is a kind of mix between so much things. Technique is one of them, look how her voice is not exactly bad, despite "she loosing her voice". Mariah didn’t take so much care for her voice. She toured almost every year in her career, and sang those hard songs despite being tired, she was alcoholic and used cigarettes. And the studio. That’s where she wasted most of her vocal energy. She was going for A5’, G#5’ and G5’s with a hella chesty mix, and was going for F2’s, F#2’s and G2’s so many times, or G7’s or A7’s in whistle. As you see, she touched the extremes of her range so many times, didn’t take enough care for her voice, and developed some bad habits, so she would waste her voice faster than someone who mostly sings in their confortable 2 octaves, almost doesn’t drink or doesn’t tour with frequency.

Philip Cohen Lets keep it simple. If you touch on the topics of: lower register, chest belts, upper register, head voice, consistency, vibrato, diction, phrasing and emotive abilities-the clear winner is Whitney. She uses her instrument far superior than any other female artist. Mariah and Celine were not as consistent and both relied on play back and lip syncing a lot in their career. Now I won’t say Whitney did not lip sync (although it was very rare), but Celine and Mariah has far more lipped performances than Whitney. We won’t talk about writing or sales but focus on their vocals. As we saw, when Whitney was on the vocal decline, she stepped on that stage at the Oscars and reminded the entire world why she is The Voice. So I will respectfully disagree with your comment.

You didn’t really go over the technique Mariah has when belting and easing her notes into pure melismas, ease, stamina, along with bridges, and riffs that are impossible to replicate. For instance, so many have never covered a song from Mariah Carey without lacking the technique she has, songs such as “Forever” is a prime example of that.

There Is no cover of " If It' s over" for example, aside from that crap of Glennis Grace, She lowered the key, skip the impossible phrasing belts and still sounds shouty and strained, while she can easily sing any whitney song in original Key , something whitney didn't even do in live, She can sing "I 'm every woman" live in original Key, while whitney always lip the climax of this song live and it sounded strained even in the studio, Go listen to that cover and compare it with Mariah's performance at the Grammys 1992 and you will see Mariah's enormous superiority over whitney Houston, over everyone even today there is no cover in original key of that song. @@butterflyera Whitney was called " the voice" by Oprah because she made her debut before Mariah, since Mariah started singing the decline of Whitney's career has slowly begun. I agree, Mariah 's tone to me it's the best, it' s for sure the most complex and inimitable, people at most manage to imitate the falsetto, but chest voice, low notes, belts, headvoice Is totally different, while whitney and celine are imitable, moreover it changes in every era, this makes it the most unique and impossible to imitate.Watch Never too far / Hero Medley live 2001 (the video in which she has the red dress) even if it is after her prime in that video the complexity of her tone is really evident. Every singer who has a gorgeous tone and sings really good is called Songbird it's true, but Mariah has been called that simple because she has one of the widest range ever, she' s very capable in every "technique" and appearance of singing including whisper singing, growls, intentional break, low notes, belts , whistle register, transition, and also her versatility, the ability to change textures both in head voice ( Watch "with you I' m Born again" you will see a D6 in headvoice so incredible that you will not believe it is real...) and whistle register, no one has ever been able to make these texture changes in these registers. She was given that name to describe her voice, her completeness, her complexity and the fact that she can literally do anything with her voice, sing any genre and take on any possible and imaginable sound. In short, all the other good singers are Songbird and she is the Songbird Supreme. She is the only singer in the history of music to have had two OFFICIAL name from a neutral organization (Guinness world record) based on her unique vocal skills "Songbird Supreme" and "Queen of melisma".

Mariah's musicality really shines through in her runs and riffs. I cannot imagine anybody who can match her in that area. I've never heard her oversing in spite her of singing the most intricate of runs and riffs.
Paddy Lewis Mariah has had vocal nodules since she was a kid and she learnt to sing with them, so yes her vocal chords were and still are technically damaged that’s how she could hit those highs and those lows, girl what u mad about?
You do know that Whitney had nodules too right? Also Pavoratti, Freddy Mercury, Adele, Sam Smith, and Julie Andrews. Some of the most legendary singers have nodules.
Mariah's vocal characteristics and capabilities are unmatched. Her tone/voice is like food to the soul. Her self-written songs are inspiring and life-saving. Mariah is the best while Celine and Whitney are very good.
Yeah, Mariah is the complete package, unlike the others. She is just perfect in every possible way. Honestly, I feel the vocal trinity term is overrated and incorrect as well, because Mariah is far too talented to be kept in a mere "vocal trinity" with cover artists. For me, it's more than just her incredible voice - her songwriting, her music, her struggles and triumphs, her stories, her success and accomplishments, and most importantly, her genuine love for her fans and passion for her craft. However, if I had to really pick one, vocally, I'd pick Whitney Houston. She was a gift to the world. RIP. And of course, I respect and admire Celine Dion, too. Her voice still gives me chills just like the first time I heard her sing even after all these years.
Yeah, Mariah is the complete package, unlike the others. She is just perfect in every possible way. Honestly, I feel the vocal trinity term is overrated and incorrect as well, because Mariah is far too talented to be kept in a mere "vocal trinity" with cover artists. She is in a class of her own with the likes of Carole King, Freddie Mercury and Paul McCartney, obviously with a much better voice than all of them. She is the GOAT.
oh my lord i love them ALL. mariah is a crazy talent, and feels like the younger sister of the trinity; she holds a youthful tone and presence, which is where i think her runs come from. whitney “the voice” has a warm almost friendly tone that lights up a room and has arguably the best songs to her name, and some crazy signature flecks to her voice. celine makes me smile because she has the most piercing and recognisable voice, almost a spontaneous and flexible voice that takes you by surprise; she always felt like a comfortable old soul and gracious performer + props to her for keeping her voice. i think the 90s were lucky to have them all in the charts and people who compare them maliciously need to touch some grass. i could listen to whitney and celine (occasionally mariah) on shuffle until i die.
I get it, Whitney and Celine have more power to their voices but what they don’t have is the beauty and fragility of Mariah’s voice. I promise you when i hear Mariah i hear an angel singing, so beautiful, such a sweet sweet feminine voice. So angelic.
true that but i prefer whitney to be honest whitney can also sound just as good as mariah, sad that she passed away she wasn't able to show the world her full potential!
Mariah' s tone is uncomparable but in the upperbelts Mariah is more powerful, greater support and resonance. Also after the first footage of the music box tour I'm not even sure they will win in mid-belts
Mariah is getting old, she can't hit the high notes anymore... she's almost 60 now. She lost her touch. and lost the sound of her whistle. Mariah in this year, is an old woman. She couldn't sing well, like She did when She was young. her vocals are irregular, her voice sounds heavy. we don't want to hear it anymore. and She often lipsync in last 7-8 years.

love all three talented ladies, but overall I prefer Mariah. there is just something so enchanting in the way she utilizes her instrument, either in the studio or in a live setting. the way she does phrased belts, whistles, agile runs and not to mention that youthful and soothing tone.
my favorite is Mariah.

Whitney is a magic transmitter. With the power and the heat of her voice, she can penetrate the heart of her audience wich is a really powerful gift. She use to shine like a diamond and her death is a huge tragedy. It's so sad to end like this after all the good she gave to many people. 🥀
I was watching her sing "All The Man I Need" during the 1991 Welcome Home Heroes concert. I time travelled for a bit there. Her voice is like a Peanut butter and jelly sandwich 😭❤
I Think Céline Dion & Mariah didn't Ruin Her Voice. with Drugs like Whitney.
Mariah : genius technical musician singer and songwriter. You learn music and vocabulary from her

Mariah’s voice has hit me hard emotionally since I was 5, but all of these women are absolutely gifted.

Its known that Whitney could sing opera too which is the hardest form of singing and requires years of training.
@@peterb6233 I have no doubt she had the tools but she wasn't there yet. Opera singers are bodybuilders of singing. She'd have to develop her registers to full potential and maximize pharyngeal resonance among other things. Whitney would be placed in a intermediate level category student.
@@tecnicoconcursado agreed but have you seen the video where she sang with Luciano Pavarotti in 1994. Just type in "Whitney houston sings opera" and youll see it.
@@peterb6233I have and she delivered those few lines of "La Donna è Mobile" greatly for a pop singer. She even executed a girare in that sustained fortissimo G5, which is a operatic feat. Whitney truly had one of the most well developed voices in nonclassical singing.

I love me some Mariah. Since we’re talking about strictly vocals, honestly I think Whitney was a born singer and is an amazing belter. Her tone is amazing and I especially love when she sings gospel songs. But I do love Mariah’s tone too, the youthful tone is God made. Her five octave range is amazing and I love how she arranges it in her music. I just wish Mariah was respected more for what she does. Her efforts are really underrated and undervalued. They are both born singers.
I agree. Mariah is a wonderful singer and her vocal agility is amazing.
Mariah has a different and difficult technique to all the three. It's like when you hear her song, you're letting urself entering into her realm. For example, ur not inlove but listening to her song makes u felt u are. Her voice is soothing to the ears and pounds the heart. But I love these three ladies, they change the game in the 90s and paved the way to the new artists...
Technique but lost her voice?
Technique should preserve ur voice
@@goldranger5182 Technique≠Longevity
The longevity is a kind of mix between so much things.
She can whistle that’s it. She can’t belt out songs like Whitney. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t talented.ALL OF THESE Vocalist are Great !! Outstanding.. Celine is a strong belter as well. Mariah was good when she sang music with substance. After the honey cd she went down hill with her hip hop wannabe style of no substance music..

Respect your opinion, but you clearly haven't seen Mariah in her prime. All the abilities you told were bested by Mariah in her prime
Jtrill Guzman I’ve seen that and it’s not anywhere near Whitney. This person is pitchy and flat at times and can’t sustain without straining. I’m sure that she would not have made it to AGT or American Idol.

Imagine, if she can sing so good now, imagine her Voice Prime, she was unstoppable ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
LMAO one time I searched for 'Forever' cover and no result 🥲 Later I came across some but it's not even decent singing.
MC queen of seamless transitions.
But let's let people delude themselves
Phi Anh the cover by kyla was pretty good

for anyone. She's the most angelic voice, and no one can deny it, but some like whitney's common gospel singer timbre and others Celine's nasal timbre
@@MichaelReyy The voices are a preference and it' s subjective but it's a fact whitney 's voice was dark, heavy while Mariah 's voice is buttery, sweet, , feminine. angelic
@@MichaelReyy whitney sounds like every church singer and I don't think you've ever listened to Mariah 's live in her prime , Whitney has always remained in her comfort zone, the songs she sings can slays every singer, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Charice can outsing whitney under the table but She stated clearly " Mariah' s songs are the hardest to sing" not to mention Glennis Grace who practically showed the world that whitney's vocal level is really low, nothing special , the way you attack Mariah just makes me understand how much you, like every whitney's stans ,you feel threatened by her. But I can understand, Mariah destroy whitney since her debut, live in studio, There 's no different, I' ve seen both live at their best and I was a whitney fan before Mariah started singing, but Mariah Is Simply more capable and a better vocalist than whitney, that's undeniable ... explore every register to create something musical and sings her songs in original Key unlike whitney, without lip the climax such as "I 'm every woman" "I' l 'your baby tonight" etc etc. unlike Glennis, Watch Glennis Grace cover of "If It 's over" and are the difference between Mariah' s impossible songs and whitney 's basic songs. And again ... Whitney 's voice is anything but angelic, What a joke, Mariah has a celestial ringing quality in her voice, whitney Is dark heavy, and it' s not an opinion, exactly like it's not an opinion that Mariah Is a better vocalist, every vocal pedagogue ranks Mariah at top of the greatest vocalist, whitney does not even go close, every vocal pedagogue can tell you that whitney Is vocally overrated, but everyone is free to fool themselves as they want. if the voice of Mariah, a 5 octave voice perfectly developed and refined in every register Is undeveloped compared to the voice of whitney which is practically limited only to sustained mid-belts and some headvoice moments you are really delusional, whitney 's voice has a lot more weaknesses and is far less developed than Mariah's. What about low notes? Agility? Transition? Upperbelts? Growls? Octave Jump? whistle register? RESONANCE? Whitney wins only in mid Belts and headvoice and at their peak Mariah 's resonance bests whitney' s Power for sure. Do your homework and there is no need to insult someone you cannot defeat
