What has really inspired me to declutter is that I found a local nonprofit that supports women escaping domestic violence. The administrators said they take EVERYTHING. All of the sudden half of my clothes feel destined to help women get back on their feet. I put new toothbrushes, and even put some mostly full nail polish bottles in there. I hope it will brighten someone's day.

I find it much easier to declutter when I know my items are in great need. My local women’s shelter was very particular with clothing. I have donated some kitchen dishes, mugs, etc.
When my Partner buy his clothes online I'll tell him I. Going to remove some clothes that I never seen him wearing. ASK PERMISSION THEN DONE.😂😂

I work in an industry where my clothing choices are very highly scrutinized from my shirts down to my shoes. I work at a high school as a substitute teacher 😂 If I can get any kind of good approval rating “Mrs D, I really like your sweater” then its going to be a red apple 🍎 day!

Someone else said , "Only donate stuff that you would give to your mother-in-law." It costs a charity a lot of money every year to get rid of trash.

Love YNAB for allocating funds, it gives me permission to replace things when that needs to happen, without any guilt.
I know it is time to declutter my closet when I put off putting laundry away because it is too full to do so with ease. It’s a challenge with 4 linear feet of reach-in closet space and no dresser.

Thanks for this one! So my husband is allergic to tree nut, so I sometimes buy chocolate with nuts in it on purpose so that my husband can’t eat it all! Or other times, I might buy some for him and I that I know the kids won’t like! Usually, it’s for everyone, but I hear you RE the “emergencies”! LOL

Maybe make elbow patches for your Hoosier. Use some cute fabric. Get some more use out of them. Did this with ky husband's pocket on his Hoodia and while it was utilitarian it allowed him to use it for several more years.

When I started minimazing during the covid shutdown, I started with my clothes and purged 80%! I absolutely LOVE having it minimal now. I hardly have to think at all to get dressed.

Actually, thrift stores and donation centres are overwhelmed with people's garbage. Only donate something in good condition that you don't wear but someone else could. You could try to find a recycling centre for fabric items, but I know this depends on where you live (which I believe you are on the island, not a major centre). Hope that helps.
We don’t have recycling clothing centers, but value village does here. I only donate things in good condition

I decluttered so much of my clothing - I no longer own a dresser and I can fit ALL of my clothes (including my winter jacket) into one suitcase! (I live in Michigan - so we have all 4 seasons)

I use to flush my candy wrappers down the toilet, thinking I was all that. I got caught by my husband when the wrappers were floating on the top of our septic tank. 😂

As a 65 year old I worry about decluttering clothes. I have so much clothing that I currently don't wear but I fear that if I get rid of it I will end up having to buy a new wardrobe in my seventies. How do I deal with this?
What are the chances you’d have to buy new clothes? Do you think all of your clothes would be gone so you’d have to replace them?Would buying new clothes be a bad thing?
I'm doing a deep closet clean today. I found a old weight watchers binder from 2000. I moved this particular item twice in two different moves. What a waste. Donated.
