Hi there! I'm currently learning German in order to one day go to Germany to be an au pair and your german sounds really good so I was just wondering how long you had been learning German in this video I'm just trying to figure out how soon I'll get to that level😁
Hey!! I took 2 semesters of German before I left. So when I got there I was probably A1-A2 level. Then once I was there, my german progressed and reached B2, I would say, when I left. Once you are in Germany, you start picking up the language SUPER fast. So I wouldn't worry!! Hope this helped!!

Just make sure to try to take advantage of speaking as much as you can! start a journal and watch a bunch of shows in german
I‘m leaving tomorrow and I’m so scared! I’ll be an Au pair in Germany as well (I’m staying there for 9 months) and I really hope everything works out.. A friend of mine used to be an au pair but she didn’t really have a good experience like you did so I’m kind of nervous 😬 Do you have any tips? Thank you for this video! It was really help

That's because you'll still be getting acquainted with the time change, culture, routine and of course family. Give it time. I’m also having an hard time because I’m only 18 and this will be my first time staying away from my family for a longer period of time... I’m probably going to get really homesick in a few weeks Is there even a way to prevent homesickness? 😂
@@lm5626 Hey, yes there is definitely an adjustment period!! But, if it doesn't feel right, I would talk to the parents about it to see if there is something to be done, maybe. Hi Savannah. I just want to ask..how did the family on Aupair world contact you? Besides the website? How did you know they were genuine?? I am a little scared to go to the other side of the world and be in a dangerous situation.
I had a couple Facetime calls with a few families before agreeing to one. Once I had found the right family, I asked them for a reference. I found my family on AuPair World after a couple months of looking. Another resource I would try is Facebook! They have a bunch of AuPair groups in certain cities that could be helpful! Good luck!
hey! Thanks for the nice comment! It depends on how many hours you would work for the family. I would say in most cases no, if you are a full time student. I had to work 5-7 hours a day which wouldn't have left me enough time to attend class/study/do homework. But, if you can find a family that is super chill and has shorter hours, I would assume so! :)
