David, Happy this could help. The building is a working model of the actual home I will be building in Colorado. I was using the model to help figure out material cost and selections quantities.
My Goddness, this is just a lot of work just to drawn these roof truss, sounds like we could do it a lot faster by hand !!!. Please tell me that I am wrong on that observation
You are correct in your observation, about the time needed to complete the task. However, since the software I used does not offer that functionality, I had to create this process to fill the need that I had at that time. This video also, showed the process for creating a custom 3d object within the software, when you cannot find a suitable source for said object. Case in point, are these trusses. Soon the stick frame you see in this video, will be built in real life based on the plans created in Sweethome 3D. Thank you for watching the video. : )
I created the Electrical directory by downloading files from 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com , than I just import the collada files .zip into the new category. hope this helps.
