- Recently we did a Sunday Drive in my Ford F150, and the truck was stuck in 4L. I tried to fix it during the drive, but had no luck.

My 02 f250. Was stuck for a few days until I looked for advice how to get the truck off low range 4wd. I did what was said and heard the truck click and go off 4wd.... Thank you Jesus... It works.!! Now I can save on gas through this krazy weather n snow that hit Austin TX.. first time we had a foot or more of snow . rare for Texas. Thank you sir for posting this on y.t.

Good tutorial but this is the worst F-150 generation by far, such a significant downgrade from the previous body style.

I think on my ranger is put it in neutral, step on the brake pedal, chant some jibberish, then switch it to 2wd. Or put a piece of black tape over the indicator and pretend your'e driving Miss Daisy.
Some trucks you have to get out of the cab, and go manually lock the hubs. Too cold here most of the year for that nonsense! Thanks for watching Rob!

A lot of people don't know this. It's the simplist fix. Sometimes it don't work and there's another problem. Could be a number of different reasons. Thanks for sharing. Everyone try this first!!! Side note...I was scrolling through different videos and came across yours. My stepfather was an Apiary in the 70s and 80s. I had forgotten how much fun I had with him in my teens when we would go out to all the different locations in Idaho, Washington and Oregon. He would lease his bee hives to all the apple farms and pecan farms I believe. He had about 1000 hives. I've subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the memories.

I was a minute away from calling for a tow for my F150 and decided to do a search. Thankfully, the first video answer to pop up was this one. Problem solved!

i was surprised this worked for me. not the idea, just dont seem to have much luck with easy fixes. I did this just a little different. I did not start the vehicle... I MADE sure the selector was in 4WD Low.... put the key in the "on" position... put the truck in neutral w/ the brake on (kept the brake on the entire time).. waited about 5 secs and put the selector in 4WD Hi. Heard a few clicking noises under the hood and it switched into 4WD Hi.... waited about 5 seconds after it went into 4WD Hi.... then flipped the switch into 2WD... heard a few clicking noises under the hood and the 4WD Hi switched to 2WD... drove it around for a while and everything is working as it should.. taking it to the garage to have it fixed.. Thank you again, I am so glad this simple fix worked.....

Most of the manufacturers of 4x4 in User Manual say you should put at first at neutral wait couple of sec and then in Drive or in gear when manual . Most of the people never ever reads User manual to learn about their vehicles. That is the most common problem nowdays.👍

I drive a 2008 Trailblazer (her name's Heather) & this has happened to me a few years ago and my tech talked me over the phone how to fix this issue, but I'd forgotten, then it happened again today. My wife thought the 4WD switch was the AC & we could not get 4W Low to completely disengage. Tried shutting vehicle off & restarting. Next step was to disconnect the battery...but watched this video 1st & worked like MAGIC - I thank u!!!!!!

Nice job. Just got myself this monster. Driving home from work. I don't even remember putting it in 4-wheel low cruising down the highway RPMs almost at 3 thousand. Pulled over thought I was going to have to take the back roads home. Literally while you were saying wait 10 seconds I looked down and the light went off. Thank You Very Much, I had the Same problem , My Ford explorer sport trac was stuck in 4x4 Low, At first I thought it was the 4x4 switch Mode, i order one from a Ford dealership for $80.00, I kept searching on line and UA-cam and came across your video, first I tried it as you explained it and it didn't work I tried a second time with my foot, on the Brake in Neutral and it worked , the 4x4 switch mode I ordered from Ford I will keep it just in case . I did this to my truck and I still can't get over 25mph on the highway. Dash light says 2 low and 4x4 is OFF so I'm freaking out. What should I do?
Try it again. Make sure the truck is in park. Good luck

Hey pine City . I don't know how old your video is but mine was doing the same thing so I thought it was the transfer case motor so I went and bought another one and replaced it and it was still doing the same thing because our vehicles ears probably as well you can change four-wheel drive on the fly and seeing that it's not happening and you can only do it in neutral to change it and not rolling what you have to do where your front drive shaft connects to the transfer case look straight up you'll see a broken vacuum line once you fix that vacuum line you'll be able to put it into four wheel drive while you're moving these trucks were made to switch into four wheel drive wire driving in Windows of vacuum hose that goes to the transfer case cracked or not hooked up the only way to put it in four wheel drive high or low is the way you're doing it because after I saw your video I put mine in neutral then I was able to get it into four wheel low otherwise it wouldn't go into four low and then couple days later I went back under there because it's supposed to be four wheel drive on the fly and I saw that broken line I had a big split in it and now I can put four-wheel drive on the fly so just to let you know if you can't get under there have someone go look at that vacuum line at directly above the front drive shaft right over the transfer case I'll give you a little more detail where the front drive shaft is connected to the transfer case with a u-joints are look straight up right there and you'll see that vacuum line split there if it's not split there it's probably further back but thanks for your advice it helped me out and talk actually I found the real problem have a good one now stay safe.

I had to move my mitsubishi montero sports car out of the streets before the snowplow truck came and I put my car on 4 wheel low or whatever and the shift got stuck and so did my car. So after watching this video, I gave it a try and the shift got unstuck and I was able to put my car in 4 wheel high and get out of the snow. So thanks so much for posting this video

This happened to me once and I fixed it by blowing into the vacuum actuator. This didn't work in my case so if this doesn't work look for the actuator on the battery side under the hood
