I really enjoyed watching Rocky with you guys. I could tell from your reactions that you really felt the emotions of the characters and the story line. It’s my favorite movie of all time and it’s a true Masterpiece in the history of cinema. The whole story behind its inception, from how Sylvester Stallone first wrote it when he was an unknown, to him finally getting the studio, United Artists to put up the money to make it on the condition he had to film it in under 30 days with a budget of only $900K. It’s a true Cinderellas story in every sense. Many people think Rocky is a boxing movie until they watch it. In the final analysis, it’s a love story about perseverance. Boxing is the vehicle that takes us through it.
This is my favourite movie, and I'm so happy you both saw exactly why I love it. The Rocky films taught me a lot about self esteem and trying my best so that even when I don't succeed, as long as I know I tried, then I also didn't fail.
Did you notice at the end Adrian loses her hat on her way to the ring and when she finally gets to Rocky the first thing Rocky says to her is “where’s your hat” 🤣. It’s just a tiny little line that perfectly sums up Rocky’s love, care, and attention for Adrian above everything no matter whatever else is happening around him.
YES, I struggled with the decision to include it or not, but then again, there are so many other moments as well. But, YES, I definitely noticed it! (:
I was born in 1962, and was 14 when Rocky came out in 76. I stayed in the theater for two weeks watching the early and late shows over and over again. He became the big brother I never had. And even to this day the influence of Rocky is still a major part of my life, as I stay in great shape and overcome any 15 rounds that come my way. Never get tired of the message of the movie. Thanks for the great reaction work, and I will see you for Rocky 2. Jim 👍
I had the same reaction when I saw Rocky the first time, it was above and beyond any expectation I had. It's a story of hope and redemption, and provokes the heart.
"Rocky" is a love story - and about the spirit of a fighter. Stallone was inspired by a real professional boxer named Chuck Wepner (known as "The Bayonne Bleeder") who fought Mohammad Ali on national television and who took a beating with clearly no chance of winning. Stallone wrote the story and refused to let the studios make the movie unless he played Rocky himself, becoming a major box office mega star in the process.
It probably cost a mint to get a boxed set like that years ago. I'm sure it was worth it. Would love to find them on the cheap sometime. Seeing all the extras, and hopefully director's cut commentary, dubbed over, that you get w/ dvd's would be fabulous.
Just came across your channel and this is the best *Rocky* reaction on UA-cam , the raw emotions from your reaction got me crying, even though Rockys always gets my emotions going. Rocky is one of my top favourite movie of all times and I agree what an amazing storyline that is written by *Sylvester Stallone* it's so raw and relatable to many and great actors, all of them. Great job...love you guys!! Here's a couple of Rocky facts for you...the arena was after a boxing card there in Philadelphia and they gave everyone a 10 dollar gift certificate from KFC to stay...the studio never wanted Sylvester Stallone..they wanted either James Caan..Clint Eastwood or Paul Newman..From last word Stallone still has the 2 turtles today and Butkus was Stallones real dog...also Stallones real life brother Frank is the guy singing in the neighborhood
Great trivia that I hadn't caught yet. I've been binging on Stallone interviews. You probably know about Stallone having to sell his own dog for $50, he was so broke. He found the guy months later, and got extorted big time to buy him back. Guy wanted a crazy amount of money, which Stallone gladly paid, and even insisted on a role in the first Rocky. Stallone never says who that guy is in the movie. I wouldn't want to be outed for that either.
In the second movie when Rocky says I feel like a Kentucky Fried Idiot..that was a nod that KFC gave those coupons for the first movie..Stallone is brilliant at subtle things
A unique piece of trivia: Rocky is the first winner of the Oscar for Best Picture in which the last line of the movie is, I love you. Fitting, for maybe the most sentimental film ever made.
I love this movie. Im glad you guys are watching it. Rocky Balboa is probably one of the toughest fighter in his prime, In my dream, I think he could take down some of the best fighters like Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquaio and Sugar Ray Leonard. Great to see you once again guys❤

Yes, what a talent! I saw that the movie won "Best Picture." I would've considered "Best Original Screenplay" and "Best Actor" as well. Just loved that movie so much!! Thanks for watching! (:
Stallone absolutely blows me away, from start to finish. I watched all the Rocky's and Rambo's back in the day, but had not idea that Stallone wrote them, and then eventually directed as well as starred in them. Rambo was an adaptation from a book, w/ a much darker story. No actor wanted to touch that role. Stallone took the bloated script, twice as long as what he produced. Cut tons of cheesy dialogue that Rambo says, that was completely against the character of the strong, silent type that a man like that would really be. He lightened it up, from the PTSD, more senseless killing spree that the original apparently portrayed and made him a sympathetic character. I've been on a binge of re-watching his movies and interviews. Had no idea that Stallone is another Quentin Tarantino. Completely self taught, no educational background for the incredible scripts they produce and in Stallone's case, one of the best actors of the last decades.
So glad I found you two 😊 this is absolutely my most favorite movie of all time. I saw it in the theater when it came out and it was amazing. Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred in a masterpiece. Not to mention Bill Conti’s score. This is a magical movie. Just finished watching with you. You are both so beautiful and appeared to feel truly connected with the story and specifically the character of Rocky. I know it’s not a popular opinion but I could take or leave the sequels. I saw 2-5 in the theater but never again. I believe the story was told in one movie. And done so absolutely beautifully. Thanks you guys 👍 I’ll be back.

Excellent reaction! This is the first movie I saw in a theater when it came out. I was 8 years old! The crowd went crazy. Watch the BBC interview Stallone gave right after the film came out. Stallone explains everything. It is an excellent interview.
It is because of this movie that a statement that I make once in awhile exists. When somebody says something like, I've given my child every opportunity to succeed. I will ask them, how many chances have you given them to fail? Sometimes we need to give our children the chance to fail just as much as we need to give them the chance to succeed. It is this movie that has caused me to think that way.

Hi Martin. Yeah, that really is an amazing story. But Stallone was smart because he also signed a deal whereby he would receive points on the back end of the film upon its release and total gross revenue. He was given 10 points on whatever the film ended up making, which boosted Stallone's net gain from Rocky to close to $2.5 million. Just finished editing R2. Stay tuned! (:
Stallone really took the message of the film to heart. Had the chance to sell the script for a pretty big paycheck, but then he wouldn't have had the opportunity to prove himself as an actor. And every role he did afterward, would have gone to Schwarzenegger or someone.

Sly said the opening shot of the Jesus painting looking down on the boxing ring was about all of these underdog people: Rocky, Adrian, Mickey the manager, and Paulie being taken on a journey of redemption.
The second one is fantastic as well. This movie is so delicate, so precious. The first kiss scene, so many emotions fighting inside. You said Sly was a good actor but Talia Shire is just as amazing. Real unpretentious acting this was. I think that partly explains why this movie is so special.

This was an excellent reaction. I love how you guys understood the initial love scene between Rocky and Adrian. A lot of reactors tend to focus on the fact that Rocky is a bit pushy with Adrian. Yes, he is, but what people don’t grasp is that underneath her shy exterior is a woman who desperately wants to break out of her shell. They are two lonely people that each want love and in some way each feels unworthy. When they come together it is really beautiful.

Rocky was basically a low budget movies that was somewhat ignored a bit. Well just like going the distance the movie won best picture! That is action packed with a touch of humor for good measure.

Hi Marie, yes, we are blown away by the Rocky series so far. Just watched R3 a few days ago and I'm currently editing Rocky 2, which we absolutely LOVED!! Stay tuned! (:
I was even more impressed when I found out that Stallone is another completely self taught writer/actor/director, much like Quentin Tarantino. Only Stallone is also an incredible actor, and Quentin, not so much. Stallone is also the total sneak attack. You have no idea how genius the guy is. Speech impediment, a bit of facial paralysis from a childhood illness, and people just assumed/ and still do, that he's slow. Oh no, HELL NO!!!
Oh neat. In my binge of Stallone interviews lately, haven't caught that factoid yet. One of the more interesting ones was that Stallone was so broke that he had to sell his dog for $50. His poor wife at the time must have been beside herself, thinking Stallone was just a bum dreamer when he wouldn't sell the script w/out starring in it. He had to find the guy when he got his big payout, and pay him buckets of money to get the dog back months later. He also had to give the guy a role in the first Rocky. Stallone doesn't say what the role was. Guess he doesn't want to out the guy, who sounds like a friggen opportunist/extortionist. It's a rough neighbhourhood, w/ rough real life characters that Stallone came from. He portrays that so well in his movies.
The eggs absolutely work in training. Of course, this was done before we knew about the dangers. It was basically Russian roulette. However, they were a big part of my going from 165 to 235 with the same waist size. Drank them onstage as "Cliff" in "Cabaret" too. The audience reaction was great 🤣
Best picture of 1976! A love story with a boxing subplot. America at the time of this release and the release of "Rocky 2" - had a low morale as it does today. "ROCKY" appealed to our desire for hope and inspiration. The other nominees for best picture - were well acted but very depressing.
The reason Mick was telling Rocky to stay down after Apollo knocked him down in the 14th is because Rocky was mangled and in Mickey’s eyes he had no more to prove. He didn’t want to see him get hurt anymore.

Agree with everything you've said. Good stuff! Thanks for sharing! (:
This is my favourite movie, and I'm so happy you both saw exactly why I love it. The Rocky films taught me a lot about self esteem and trying my best so that even when I don't succeed, as long as I know I tried, then I also didn't fail.
YES, so many important life lessons in Rocky! Love it! Rocky II will be released tomorrow. See you then! (:
What a movie! No matter how many times I've watched this story it never fails to touch my heart and provide excitement. :)
Yeah, this franchise really is fantastic!! (:
Did you notice at the end Adrian loses her hat on her way to the ring and when she finally gets to Rocky the first thing Rocky says to her is “where’s your hat” 🤣. It’s just a tiny little line that perfectly sums up Rocky’s love, care, and attention for Adrian above everything no matter whatever else is happening around him.
YES, I struggled with the decision to include it or not, but then again, there are so many other moments as well. But, YES, I definitely noticed it! (:
Great reaction! Adrian is the heart and soul of all the Rocky movies! This is a love story with boxing in it!
Thank you! Yes, a love story with boxing about self-worth! Amazing! (:
i thought it was a turtle story with boxing and love in it

This is one of the best Rocky reactions I’ve EVER SEEN! Y’all just got a new subscriber 💯❤️
Yay, thank you so much! And thank you for subscribing! Cheers!
Jim 👍
Hi Jim, what a wonderful statement about the influence Rocky had on you! I can 100% understand it. Thanks for sharing. See ya tomorrow for R2. (:
I had the same reaction when I saw Rocky the first time, it was above and beyond any expectation I had. It's a story of hope and redemption, and provokes the heart.
Yes, we were both blown away. Rocky II will be released next Saturday! Stay tuned! (:
Love you guys. You two really GET it. All the main themes, all the finer points. Watching your Rocky 2 reachtion...now.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm currently editing R3, so stay tuned! (:
"Rocky" is a love story - and about the spirit of a fighter. Stallone was inspired by a real professional boxer named Chuck Wepner (known as "The Bayonne Bleeder") who fought Mohammad Ali on national television and who took a beating with clearly no chance of winning. Stallone wrote the story and refused to let the studios make the movie unless he played Rocky himself, becoming a major box office mega star in the process.
Yes, the backstory of Stallone is equally as impressive! Thanks for sharing! (:
Love the Rocky films brought the complete set on blu-ray years ago.
Can't wait to see them all... 1-3 already in the can! (:
It probably cost a mint to get a boxed set like that years ago. I'm sure it was worth it. Would love to find them on the cheap sometime. Seeing all the extras, and hopefully director's cut commentary, dubbed over, that you get w/ dvd's would be fabulous.
52:00 mins mick told him stay down because he felt bad about the beating he was taking. He was trying to protect rocky from himself.
Yeah, that's probably correct. (:
men don't cry at titanic , they cry watching rocky hehe , good reaction
Haha... That's great! Thanks for watching along with us! (:
Just came across your channel and this is the best *Rocky* reaction on UA-cam , the raw emotions from your reaction got me crying, even though Rockys always gets my emotions going. Rocky is one of my top favourite movie of all times and I agree what an amazing storyline that is written by *Sylvester Stallone* it's so raw and relatable to many and great actors, all of them. Also from a woman's point of view, it's a beautiful thing when a man shows emotions, to me that's strength when you are not afraid to show emotions. I enjoyed your reactions and you are a beautiful couple, thank you. New subscriber, Love from Canada 💖🍁

Philly chic born and raised and of course I love the Rocky franchise as well as CREED. They get better and better. Rocky is actually a love story with boxing in it. Cant wait to see your reaction and the rest of the series. 🥊🥊💚🦅
Oh, that's awesome!! Yes, a love story it is with a subject of self-worth, imo. I'm currently editing Rocky II, which we absolutely LOVED! Stay tuned! (:
The news reporter in the meat factory is Diana Lewis. She was an actore so good at her job she became our actual news reporter for Detroit news. Shes to this day the most beloved detroit news anchor. Shes a legend in detroit.
Really? That's a new trivia that I've never heard! Thanks for sharing! (:
@BossMovieReactions You're welcome, and Yes, Diana Lewis channel 7 WXYZ for 35 years. She is now retired, and her daughter Glenda is following her mother's footsteps and the news anchor for channel 7.
Sly Stallone always said, Rocky was primarily a love story surrounded by boxing.
Yes, definitely true. A love story with an added subject of boxing and self-worth. (:
Great reaction to a stallone classic. Stallone such a underrated actor. Cant below this movie is over 35 years old now. Big thumbs up
It's 48 years old.
Yes, BIG thumbs up for Stallone and this movie! Rocky II is coming... (:
I think that was probably the best reaction edit of this film I've seen on the Tube thus far.. Greetings from Nottingham England.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it. I put a tremendous amount of work into the editing, so it's always nice when people recognize it! THANKS! (:
Great job...love you guys!! Here's a couple of Rocky facts for you...the arena was after a boxing card there in Philadelphia and they gave everyone a 10 dollar gift certificate from KFC to stay...the studio never wanted Sylvester Stallone..they wanted either James Caan..Clint Eastwood or Paul Newman..From last word Stallone still has the 2 turtles today and Butkus was Stallones real dog...also Stallones real life brother Frank is the guy singing in the neighborhood
Fantastic! Thanks for the trivia! Love it! (:
A unique piece of trivia:
Rocky is the first winner of the Oscar for Best Picture in which the last line of the movie is,
I love you.
Fitting, for maybe the most sentimental film ever made.
Haha, yeah, that IS a unique piece of trivia. Thanks for sharing! R2 is coming! (:
This movie won me 20 dollars. AFI agree with me.
Most influential movie all time.
Haha, congrats! (:
I love this movie. Im glad you guys are watching it. Rocky Balboa is probably one of the toughest fighter in his prime, In my dream, I think he could take down some of the best fighters like Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquaio and Sugar Ray Leonard. Great to see you once again guys❤
Yes, this movie was fantastic! One of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm currently editing Rocky II, which was just as amazing as the first one. See you soon! (:
I cant wait to see you guys react Rocky Balboa part: 2. I really missed listening to Jessica’s laugh. Honestly.
@@BastyDYmas 👍🙏
Stallone wrote the script. He got an Oscar for that too.
Yes, what a talent! I saw that the movie won "Best Picture." I would've considered "Best Original Screenplay" and "Best Actor" as well. Just loved that movie so much!! Thanks for watching! (:
Stallone was nominated for Best Actor and Original Screenplay for the film, but he didn't win either. But the film did win Best Picture and Director.
@@mycattitude 👍
Hello Susan, thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, I would consider Rocky a masterpiece as well. I just finished editing R2, which we also LOVED! Stay tuned for Saturday. And pet your cute kitty for us! Meow!! (:
Great reaction! You're gonna love the Rocky series. Stallone is also great in First Blood and later on in Cop Land with Robert Deniro, Ray Liotta and Harvey Keitel.
YES, I'm currently editing Rocky II, loved it!! I also added Rambo and Cop Land to our list. Thx! (:
Movie has had an impact on my life at different stages. This came out 2 years before I was born. Watched it throughout the years. 5 years ago I was in and out the hospital because my health took a turn. Watched them to lift my spirits. Sylvester Stallone did an excellent job with this series. Enjoy your reactions and analysis! Be well.
Yes, this movie has so much heart and so much substance, we absolutely loved it. I hope your health situation has stabilized itself. Also, Rocky II is on its way! Cheers! (:

YES, from what we have seen so far, Stallone ROCKS! I probably finish editing R2 today. Stay tuned for this Saturday! (:
@@BossMovieReactionsby the way, Sly wrote Rocky based on an actual boxing match Chuck Wepner vs Mohammed Ali. When Sly finished writing the script of the Rocky, Studio wanted to hire big names such as Robert Redford to play Rocky. But Sly insisted that he will play Rocky.
@@knifejail Yes, I read that on the trivia page. Very interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing! (:
What a fantastic reaction! It was great to see you two both react to this for the first time. Made me experience the "first time" all over again. My big disappointment is that you just uploaded this which means it'll be some time before I get to enjoy you reacting to Rocky II (which build upon this and is even better).

Yes, right on, RocketWhite, that makes sense to me. (:
Loved your reaction. Make sure you watch then whole series. You guys will love it.

He made 30000 dollars for that film, they didn't even want him to play Rocky,I saw it when I was 12 at the theater, great movie classic
And every role he did afterward, would have gone to Schwarzenegger or someone.
great reaction you guys very moving scenes and the music really adds to the scenes i think mickey was telling him to stay down because he didn't want him to get hurt

Best Picture of 1976. Sylvester Stallone has become a Hollywood icon. But his story of writing and pitching the Rocky script. Truly an underdog story.
Yes, it is truly an underdog story regarding the movie and the behind-the-scenes story. Rocky II is coming! (:
Sly said the opening shot of the Jesus painting looking down on the boxing ring was about all of these underdog people: Rocky, Adrian, Mickey the manager, and Paulie being taken on a journey of redemption.
I love it!! (:
The second one is fantastic as well. This movie is so delicate, so precious. The first kiss scene, so many emotions fighting inside. You said Sly was a good actor but Talia Shire is just as amazing. Real unpretentious acting this was. I think that partly explains why this movie is so special.
Yes, you're correct, Talia deserves just as much credit for her acting! I'm currently editing Rocky II, which we absolutely LOVED! Stay tuned! (:

Hi Amanda, yes, we were both blown away!! I'm currently editing Rocky II. We LOVED it! (:
This was an excellent reaction. I love how you guys understood the initial love scene between Rocky and Adrian. A lot of reactors tend to focus on the fact that Rocky is a bit pushy with Adrian. Yes, he is, but what people don’t grasp is that underneath her shy exterior is a woman who desperately wants to break out of her shell. They are two lonely people that each want love and in some way each feels unworthy. When they come together it is really beautiful.
YES, Megan, I think you absolutely nailed the love relationship between Rocky and Adrian. Great explanation! (:
Different times too. That was not necessarily the red flag it is today.

Rocky was basically a low budget movies that was somewhat ignored a bit. Well just like going the distance the movie won best picture! That is action packed with a touch of humor for good measure.
Oh, yes, this movie did go the distance!! Definitely deserved "Best Picture." I would've even considered "Best Original Screenplay" and "Best Actor." (:
Rocky's dog Butkus was Stallone's real dog named after the great Chicago Bear football hall of famer Dick Butkus.

I was so impressed when I found out that Sylvester Stallone wrote this story.
Yes, VERY impressive indeed!! And Stallone wrote, directed, and acted in the second one! Even more impressive! Currently editing Rocky II.
❤Rocky,❤Stallone and ❤BMR. Always a treat watching with you M & J
Aw, thank you so much for saying that. And thanks for the hearts! Stay tuned for Rocky II. (:
Burt Young, who played Paulie had a pro record of 14-0 was a very good boxer.
Oh, wow, that's pretty good. Who would've thought, huh? Thanks for sharing! (:
Very enjoyable -- thank you, both.
You got it, Matt. Thanks for watching! (:
I remember after watching Rocky when it first came out, I was walking around saying "Yo Adrian" it drove my girlfriend nuts!

Best picture of 1976! A love story with a boxing subplot. America at the time of this release and the release of "Rocky 2" - had a low morale as it does today. "ROCKY" appealed to our desire for hope and inspiration. The other nominees for best picture - were well acted but very depressing.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that. Yes, a morale booster for sure!! (:
