I love discontinued stuff. There's just an exclusivity to me about discontinued fragrances, and that's why a large chunk of my collection is either discontinued or has rumors of discontinuation. With that being said

This one’s tough for me, this was the first fragrance I ever bought. Bought it when I was at a point of major transition in my life, so there’s a LOT of core memories associated with this scent. Definitely will snag a bottle to hold onto as a keepsake.

Dallas , I got mine 2 weeks back for the price of $92 nothing ground breaking to me but when I wore it to work got like 3 complement from ladies that hardly ever gave me one n I have more than 300 fragrances
This one hurts. This was the first ever fragrance I fell in love with and I bought it during a pretty big part of my growth into adulthood. I have so many core memories of dates and great times attached to this scent. Sad to see it go. I’m grabbing a bottle tonight to hold onto until my current bottle runs out. ☹️

This is still available on the Prada site in 50 and 100 ml in the U.S. Youd think it wouldnt be if they axed it. Interesting.

The way that this fragrance lingers in the air even hours after I’ve applied it is amazing!.. a dusty dry moderate sweetness imo.. not as overpowering as Eros or Le Male just perfect!
I put it on a shirt and went to a symphony, came home, hung the shirt back up and over a week later that shirt smelled exactly like Prada black still. No degradation of the notes hardly. Insane. There's a reason out of ALL my fragrances it's the closest to my sink. It punches way above it's weight and isn't overwhelmingly sweet , but also still dense.

I live in Europe and picked up a 100ml bottle today for €90 with free delivery. 100ml bottles seem to be in relatively short supply compared to 50ml bottles, which are plentiful. I would not be surprised if this was being phased out because I don’t think it is a big seller outside the fragrance community.

I know it's been a year but I just picked up 3.3 of Black for just under $100. I was debating the amount to buy until listening to Dallas saying it had been discontinued.
it's NOT discontinued,, it's re-packaged , now 3.3 oz vs. 3.4 oz, and be careful no longer maid in spain, since its launch in 2018, now made by loreal, and the 1st scent you get is ALCOHOL, lacks the original scent we all enjoyed. i returned back to retailer, soon as i sprayed it.

Is it me, or is the scent very available in 2023 and weaker? Tried it in a sephora and liked it and ordered from one of the discounters, fragrance buy to be exact, and It smells very toned done. I didn't get the powdery scent I smelled at the store. I checked the badge, and my bottle is 8 months old. I have no clue anyone with the same scenario?

I’m shocked they were still in stock and the discount still worked. I had my eye on this scent for a while but it had gone up so much that I was holding out for a good deal…110 for a 100ml is about as good as you’ll find from what I could see
Just curious if I happen to catch anyone else coming to this video a bit later down the line-but does this fragrance hit anyone else notably different than anticipated? I'd been watching the Luna Rossa line for a little bit now as I've recently gotten into fragrances and consistently heard good things about Ocean, Carbon, and Black. Black consistently made #1 or #2 spots on rankings of the line that I watched, and a lot of people described it as being pretty sweet. I'm a fan of conventional fall/cool weather fragrances. Warm, rich vanillas, some woods, some booze, a little bit of spiciness at times, etc. The notes on this one reflected that perfectly, so when I heard news of this thing being discontinued, I jumped at a blind buy from Macy's with admittedly high hopes. Having now smelled this stuff on skin, it is not quite what I expected at all. The first thing that came to mind when smelling it, despite it not being a listed note (to my knowledge) was something akin to freshly-ground pepper. Likely stemming from this same quality, I also get a vaguely metallic dustiness to the scent. When I really press my nose to it, I can get the faintest trace that there may be a sweetness-likely the vanilla note-trying desperately to peak through, but that metallic/pepper scent is just so overpowering that it dominates most of the fragrance, at least to my nose.
That being said, overall, it's not a bad fragrance at all. But I can't tell the extent to which I personally like it-and it's really throwing me for a loop. I'll have to give it some time as it may grow on me, but I definitely don't see it as the type of fragrance I'd normally jump at.

Strange because I just bought 5 from a duty free and they were labeled made in France by L'Oreal produced 2022. The one I had a few years back was by Puig made in Spain. Same exact scent and performance by the way. Wonder what's up with being discontinued now. Anyway, scooped up all five that were stocked because I love the scent that much and is my wife's favourite which is always a bonus)

There are only a handful of designer scents that I'd happily pay full retail for and this is one of them, so I've just ordered two with the discount. This really blows, it's a legitimately fantastic scent, but I also acknowledge that a taste for masculine powdery scents is far from universal.
I just bought a bottle of it because I was running low on it now I'm gonna have to buy a backup bottle. I really hate to see this go.

Just bought a back-up bottle. Coincidentally, I bought my first one just two months ago, after Gent Scents sold me on it. Really good stuff. I'm a big fan of the Luna Rossa line. I just hope they leave Carbon and Ocean alone. Otherwise, I'm going to be very sad.
they won't discontinue carbon because that's the most popular from the line and their version of dior sauvage. But ocean isn't safe. I think they only discontinued black because it was the only one in the line that didn't fit in, it was sweet and powdery which doesn't fit into the luna rossa line of fresh soapy fragrances. If luna rossa black was released as an individual fragrance not part of luna rossa line but as it's own unique scent, then it wouldn't be discontinued in my opinion. But when they discontinue something it also means that a new one is coming out too, because they had to make room for a new luna rossa so keep your eyes open for the new luna rossa coming out it's unofficial and just a guess but i'm predicting a new one comes out like this year
So not sure what is going on in the US but here in Europe you can readily find it pretty much anywhere. The Prada website still lists it and you can find it at every major retailer in the UK, France, Germany......Could this be just a US thing? Could it be that the Prada rep got their information wrong or is it that they purposely misled people in order to spike sales as people rush to pick up the "last remaining bottles"?
I hope they make a parfum version of this!

I predicted this would happen, it just doesn't fit in with the luna rossa line at all. The luna rossa line was basically fresh and soapy, then there was luna rossa black that just didn't really fit into the line. I knew they would discontinue it, but I hoped they wouldn't because how popular it is

Why is it that a genuine review of a fragrance is only done when it is discontinued but when it is in production everyone hypes it up?
sweet, powdery, dark, slight freshness, little bit floral, little bit leathery. Soft, gentle, not too in your face, great balanced cold weather scent that doesn't lean too sweet or too fresh just right vegemite....unfortunately it never belonged in the luna rossa line just doesn't fit in with what prada do as a brand. Prada always known for fresh & soapy fragrances

I bought my first high quality fragrance earlier this year and it was Prada black. I was at Sephora looking for my first designer fragrance and when I left, I smelled the Prada black on my hand that I accidentally sprayed on. I went in there only to smell a handful of fragrances I saw on tiktok and Prada black was one of those. I went back a week later to smell it again and bought it. The first thing I did when I got home was sprayed it in my room because of how good it smelled. I can’t believe 6 months later they discontinue it and I’m just now finding out a couple months after this video was posted. Truly a legendary fragrance. Thankfully I bought the largest bottle and still have a ton left.

They were recently snatched up by L'Oreal, which has a reputation for wreaking havoc on the fragrance houses they buy.
NOOOOOOOO!!! I've been wearing it a lot since I got it last year. It gets a LOT of positive comments! When I first got it, my brother-in-law gave me a hug when he left and a half an hour he texts me "what cologne are you wearing? I must have a little on me and it smells AWESOME!" Damn it. It looks like I'm going to drop some coin on some and then hardly ever wear it! 😜
