I remember back when I was playing minor hockey, when we were at away tournaments I'd bring my n64 along for all the teammates to play. After about an hour of Goldeneye we popped this game and for the rest of the tourney it's all we played!
Ah if I could go back to being in 9th grade again. What a time in wrestling it was when this game came out. It would take me forever to start a match just because I wanted to hear this tune. No doubt about it. N64 has the best wrestling games of all time and this one for sure the best music.
I can't help but think of this being in an 80's movie, specifically a Montage scene, where the underdog is working out or bettering himself in some sense
Including the "generic" characters who were based on real life wrestlers: Eddy Guerrero Chris Benoit Macho Man Randy Savage Hannibal (Hayabusa) Powder Keg (Terry Gordy) Ali Baba (The Sheik) The Claw (Gran Naniwa)
Dude, hell yeah. I loved in this game how you had to wear your opponents down before pinning them. Any of the other THQ wrestling games, you can pretty much do your finisher 2 to 3 times and BOOM! Also, love the music. The Japanese Version "Virtual Pro Wrestling 64," was the real deal though. Wow, that was some good shit.
There are few video game songs that make me as nostalgic as this one does. There's just something about the specific point in time where this game was announced and released that will stick with me forever. I remember seeing photos in GamePro for it and feeling like I waited forever for it to finally come out and play it.
Great game.Despite really not being a wrestling fan as I used to be when I was younger out of all the wrestling video games ever made I would go back to this one in a heartbeat!
I absolutely loved this game. man this came out when i was in elementary school. i remember me and all my homies would play this game for hours. from the first time i hear the music to this game, i remember back then when i first heard it.
Use to play this with my friend after elementary school was done for the day lol and at the same time the WCW was at its peaked so we were hooked on it.
It's really funny on how I played this "WCW Vs. NWO World Tour" on N64 and "WWF SmackDown!" on PS1 in the late 90s/early 2000s but yet I started watching Wrestling during the Get the "F" Out era/TNA Weekly PPVs in mid 2002. I hate that I missed the Monday Night Wars/Attitude Era Years
This music brings so many good, god damn memories. Don't know why wrestling game devs completely abandoned the style that THQ had pioneered. Great, fun games.
this game I admit was my first n64 wrestling experience. I miss playing it. I wonder if the wii shop channel will put this up for $10 download n Revenge as well. A game like this deserves a spot in the N64 sport hall of fame.
When this game was released it was the most technologically advanced game in the world. While today's wrestling games have far more realistic graphics, the fluidity of the wrestler's motions in this game have yet to be matched.
@CelticSpirt Same with me when WCW/nWo Revenge came out. My brother and I got grounded for a week because we both faked sick on the same day to play the game
I remember I got this as a gift for Easter oh so many years ago, man I played this game for HOURs. I really wish AKI was involved in the wrestling games again.
I can't stop thinking about the first time I played this. I've been playing wrestling games every since. I'm thinking about doing a bass cover for this
WCW and WWF at the time both had good things the only difference is that WWF had arguably the best promoter in history of Sports Entertainment, who knew how to make the best of the talent and create new superstars so their future was sorted. Also we shouldn't forget most of the big stars of WCW were made to big superstars by Vince McMahon who jumped ship from WWF in the early 90s to WCW and this isn't including WCW originals like Sting and Flair. This was the first Wrestling Game i had on the N64 before that i had WCW vs The World on PS1. However this game brings back memories of when actually WCW was very good to watch and its best times from 1996 until the end of 1998.
Adrian Jackson ::Sigh:: Yeah.. it's hard to cling to WCW's memory, and still agree with that point. You are exactly correct though, sir.. I just hate having to admit it. Funny, though, I never knew this game existed until after Revenge was released, but I still like this one more. It makes me mad, however, considering that the japanese equivalent to this game had Vader in it. I'd have loved to have a Sting/Vader match for nostalgia's sake.
Jei Dizzle I watched some on the 1996 WCW Nitro again it makes me remember at the time the company was number one for a reason for until early 99 and that is they had better storylines and felt more attractive something new and reality based brought to the industry compared to outdated silly WWF gimmicks as it wasn't really until The Rock became mainstream along side the established Stone Cold Steve Austin that WWF started to win in 99. Hearing this soundtrack gives a nostalgia feelings that represents the glory that was once WCW now buried by the ego of Vince McMahon who could of let WCW keep on going and create even greater storylines. Also this theme gives feelings of sadness and tragedy that was about to befall WCW three years after this game was released.
No other main menu music could get me more pumped.
In my top 5 of best menu theme
On the real!
Duke nukem 64
NONE in history!!!!
THAT TRUMPET
It's sounds so puroresu.
That ride cymbal!
@@SphericalThinker yeah, i like so much the drums and the bad ass riffs

It's a synthesizer
This makes me wanna cry. Damn i miss these days. The best.
💯
@@El_Nino90 Who all thinks Street Fighter Series should have been on Right Dates & Consoles
Sounds like what would play during the sports highlights on your local news or even ESPN.
I am surprised ESPN hasn't tried using it.
Street Fighter 1 would have been a Good Character Select Screen with Music like this
THIS IS SUCH A BANGER - MY LORD!
I remember back when I was playing minor hockey, when we were at away tournaments I'd bring my n64 along for all the teammates to play. After about an hour of Goldeneye we popped this game and for the rest of the tourney it's all we played!
Love this song, this game and those years.
True
I Remember having this...Good Times 😢
Ah if I could go back to being in 9th grade again. What a time in wrestling it was when this game came out. It would take me forever to start a match just because I wanted to hear this tune. No doubt about it. N64 has the best wrestling games of all time and this one for sure the best music.

I don't because when I read the comment I just pictured it Lmfao
LMAO!
this would be perfect for Rocky hahaha
absolute best menu song ever!!!
One can really feel the epicness
Sad how many of the wrestlers in this game are dead.
IceMan24 A lot frfr
Obi Smalls yeah tbh Eddie was my favorite wrestler
Obi Smalls That is why this game should be valued, this game was made when they were still alive.
Including the "generic" characters who were based on real life wrestlers:
Eddy Guerrero
Chris Benoit
Macho Man Randy Savage
Hannibal (Hayabusa)
Powder Keg (Terry Gordy)
Ali Baba (The Sheik)
The Claw (Gran Naniwa)
brian adams, van hammer ( didnt remember them in this game but in revenge they were in it
who is still listening in 2016??

meeee
I'm still playing this. It's not as customizable as no mercy but holy shit best wrestling game EVER.

How this is not one of the best themes on Videogames History? This Is just a so epic theme.
Wow. The nostalgia is strong with this one. One of the best menu music ever
Just dug this one out (along with all my other n64 stuff) and plugged it in. Still works! I’m 8 years old again
Kind of sounds like workout theme/music.
The music in this game is hype, BROTHER!!
a lot of people say that games like Revenge and No Mercy were better, but this game had hands down the best music
This would make an awesome Mega Man Stage Select theme.
There are few video game songs that make me as nostalgic as this one does. Me and my brothers be fighting because of this game. Memories!! Great game btw.
played the heck out of this game back in the day, and wrestling was huge at the time too in culture
Can't... stop ... listening..... to this song...
When that 'dong' sounds you know shit's about to get real!
the bell, singling the time to rumble
THE BELLS OF VICTORY TOLLED TO OPEN THE GATES OF CONQUEST ALONG THE KING'S ROAD
Man why isn't wrestling what it used to be? Why don't we have these amazing games like this anymore? :(
Great game.Despite really not being a wrestling fan as I used to be when I was younger out of all the wrestling video games ever made I would go back to this one in a heartbeat!
always loved how Hulk Hogan looked all Evil in his picture in the game haha with the undead white eyes!!!
I absolutely loved this game. man this came out when i was in elementary school. i remember me and all my homies would play this game for hours. from the first time i hear the music to this game, i remember back then when i first heard it.
DOOONNNGG!
Use to play this with my friend after elementary school was done for the day lol and at the same time the WCW was at its peaked so we were hooked on it.
Man I can remember playing this game for hours back in middle school! Best days ever!!
I hate that I missed the Monday Night Wars/Attitude Era Years
i remember me and my cousin rented this game when it first came out...amazing music
I love the way the guitar riff has the galloping 16th notes
BEGIN THE HYPE.
This Wrestling music on this game out all others, this game and song is a legend.
Love how it goes full Mega Man X at the 0:33 mark.
Don’t you ever compare that part of megaman X not even close
It's a similar soundfont to the guitar in the first game.
The only game where I could use Steven Regal to beat the sh*t out of Hollywood Hogan (which he probably could have done IRL as well).
You know you're dealing with a mark when they talk about who could beat up who in real life.
@@yourgameisstupid 😘💕
I spent more time on the iconic main menu then actually playing the game! :P :)
Likewise bro!
THQ can come back
One of the first games I played on N64. It was freaking epic. this was my 2nd favorite theme next to the 2nd battle theme.
The first ever game I got for Christmas on the Nintendo 64💯
A true game changer, we use to rush home from school to play this. 2 vs 2 no tag format tournament back in the 7th grade
The Claw, Powder Keg, Hannibal!!! My fave pics!!
"WCW vs. NWO, 5 vs 5, 2 player, Luger Flair Sting Giant DDP vs Hogan Hall Nash Savage and Syxx" Loading screen theme hits......
This music brings so many good, god damn memories. Don't know why wrestling game devs completely abandoned the style that THQ had pioneered. Great, fun games.
The Music was incredible for its day and its still amazing even in 2011. I can only wish wrestling would return to these days.
I'm not gonna lie... this game got me into WCW. Sure this was right around the time The NWO was feuding with Jay Leno, but I still!
This game came out a week after the World War 3 1997 PPV, this was during the big Sting/Hogan feud.
Travis Janot
I must not have played it right away then haha. It's been awhile.
This game was released when WCW was at its pinnacle.
this game I admit was my first n64 wrestling experience. I miss playing it. I wonder if the wii shop channel will put this up for $10 download n Revenge as well. A game like this deserves a spot in the N64 sport hall of fame.
Great song! Brings back many memories! Best parts are 0:34-1:01 , 1:35-2:03 , and 2:37 to end.
Do you hear a riff sampled out of "Thunder Kiss '65" by White Zombie here? I do.
This will always be my motivation!!!
Love this music
Damn I miss these days so much.
the feels..
This shit had me screaming ITS LIT before it was even a thing.
This game is the reason why I'm a wrestling fan today.
Back then I came home after school play this
@Cosomut This was my first N64 game, Everytime i play it i can just feel how it felt to get this game
Man this brings back memories....
Hannibal! My hero!
The Blood Hunter!!🤘🏽El Cazador de Sangre!!
Reminds me of the days of playing No Mercy on the N64 good times...
I always liked this theme myself.
MY CHILDHOOD!
GOD I feel old T_T
The Clarion’s Call bell tone was simply perfect.
Without a doubt, the best wrestling game of all time.
Miss my childhood
They dont make music like this for video games anymore. Cartridge games had the best music.
2018 and still listening

WCW is STILL better than WWF/WWE, or whatever they are today, and I still think that this was the best wrasslin game ever. Man, the difficulty!

WCW vs NWO was a great game (and arguably the best original soundtrack). But WWF No Mercy was so far evolved that it's just not comparable.

Whoever's idea it was to use those fucking big chimes in this song is an epic genius. It's so... perfectly awesome.
this game was freakin awesome
I loved this game so much
The 64 featured the best wrestling games. Like this game, WCW vs NWO Revenge, WWF No Mercy, and WWF WrestleMania 2000
Back when wrestling games were actually fun!
Trop de souvenirs !
The best wrestling game EVER!! My childhood! The music is awesome!! Where are my wrestling fans!😂😊🤘🏾🎸
good memories and best wrestling game ever
My only N64 game for 8 months. Then I got Goldeneye. This music takes me the fuck back.
long live wrestling!!
I used to fake sick so I could stay home a play this :)
Thanks for the nostalgia NakeyJakey
They should totally put this on the Wii U shop.
