China increase tariffs on EU dairy products.
And China is planning to stop imports of Airbus from Europe, that'll hurt.

Chinese idea of innovation is questionable

Germans didn't want this, but the French did. Target Airbus, LVMH, Hermes etc.
That's the trade war attitude
And they will. EU is just committing economic suicide, and this is not the very first time they have done this.
No. The EU already filed a WTO complaint against China's illegal EV policies back in 2018. This is a follow-up to that and the EU initiated the investigation ex-officio without any complaint from industry.
@@tooltalk 2018? China's EV industry didn't even blossom yet. Link the WTO complaint if you can. But I'm guessing you're just quoting stuff out of thin air.

5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Overcapacity and subsidies are in the "denial" phase. Because how can the noble and allmighty europeans admit that they lost due to lacking of techincal competence. now with the tariff, EU officially enters 2nd stage anger. Then if the tariff still doesn work, bargaining will come.

Chinese EV's really are better built and they're less expensive. That's why there's 100% tariff on them.

@@Just_another_Euro_dude Europeans do love to buy chinese cars tho lol as you can see from the success of BYD and NIO.

Electric vehicles produced by Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Audi also enjoy subsidies in China and utilize China's supply chain and technology to reduce costs. If tariffs are imposed on cars produced in China, will these European brand cars also be subject to tariffs? If not, it is pure trade protectionism and discrimination
It could be protectionsm and discrimination, BMW, Mecerdes Benz and Audi build in the U S and then ship to EU, Including Germany.
Sure, all the Europe EV makers were forced use Chinese batteries since 2016.
@@tooltalk In order for the European EV makers to get subsidized from the Chinese government.
@@themiddlekingdom9121 Not only for subsidies, but also to get permit to make EVs in China:
Power Play: How China-Owned Volvo Avoids Beijing’s Battery Rules Car maker is allowed to use high-end foreign technology, while rivals are squeezed into buying local, Trefor Moss, May 17, 2018, WSJ:
... China requires auto makers to use batteries from one of its approved suppliers if they want to be cleared to mass-produce electric cars and plug-in hybrids and to qualify for subsidies. These suppliers are all Chinese, so such global leaders as South Korea’s LG Chem Ltd and Japan’s Panasonic Corp. are excluded.
@@themiddlekingdom9121 (continued)
...Foreign batteries aren’t officially banned in China, but auto executives say that since 2016 they have been warned by government officials that they must use Chinese batteries in their China-built cars, or face repercussions. That has forced them to spend millions of dollars to redesign cars to work with inferior Chinese batteries, they say.
...“We want to comply, and we have to comply,” said one executive with a foreign car maker. “There’s no other option.”
The question is "does Tesla also get the similar tariffs?", If not, this is totally unfair to Chinese EV manufactures.
Who knows & who really cares no one is buy that.
Tesla gets the tariffs if the car is manufactured in China.
Yes Tesla will get the same tariffs.
Well-done Europe. Good luck buying expensive EVs from local manufacturers.
No worries. In pre-2020, the Chinese gov't forced all foreig EV OEMs to buy local Chinese batteries 25% more expensive than foreign in China. There would be no CATL or BYD without gov't protectionism. Europe is learning fast from China.
@@tooltalk CATL being CATl because they have the ball to take on others dont. Like propulsion battery for entry level EV. At the time before 2020. Panasonic adn LG chem only offer their propulsion battery at very high price but low yield. It is CATl changing the land scape.
And when BYD come up with E6, a relative cheap long ramger EV. The European are building garbage like the i3 and the Japanese is think Leaf is ahead of its time.
@@tooltalkyou are stupid. Europeans will use govt subsidies for their own bonus and never on EVs. they do not learn. genetically flawed. same as your no brain comment.
@@user-jh6vt8vx4v No worries. CATL founded in 2011 had zero chance against foreigners and they are still behind in most battery makers -- CATL's strength is in price and mass-production, not quality or technology.

Common Europe you are better than America, don't stoop to their level.
The EU OEMs were the main victims of the Chinese gov't economic coercion to push local battery industry. I'm not surprised that the EU is working on Anti-Coercion Instrument to deal with China's future abuses.
How is EU able to do that when China invested heavily in Europe’s growth?

The Chinese say electric vehicles are like moving surveillance cameras.
This will, of course, lead to tit-for-tat tariffs. The EU is also an export dependent economy and China is one of their largest clients.
If you cant compete, you dont need to work hard , just use tariff. We should teach our next generation this?

Tesla has the lion’s share of the market and isn’t cheap, but no one mentions it.

So much for green technology and free market. All BS. When you cannot compete you change the rules
It’s interesting that Chinese EV has only 2% market share in Europe and tariff by brand is even more bias.
It is even more interesting that the biggest auto makers such as BMW and Benze have no complaint to Chinese EV and they spoke against the tariff. XD

The future of Chinese 🇨🇳 electric cars in Europe is uncertain due to *overcapacity,* a kind word for dumping.

US and EU automakers are much heavily subsidized by their government (e.g. Inflation Reduction Act) and still can't compete with China EV. Most importantly, China government is already no subsidy to EV since 2022.
