The chap working on his car is a nice touch, for some reason, the fact that it's a Capri makes me grin.

Excellent progress with just one minor omission. The four men around the slide was the ideal opportunity to model one of them with a clipboard, in which case it would be the perfect representation of four people from the local council employed to do the work of one! Would fit in very well with a 1980s layout!
Loved the Capri tailgating. Reminds me of my time owning a Capri!
Great idea for the fixing the car at the side of the road. Something we used to do regularly, whereas now I dare not lift the cover they put over the engine to discourage you going near a mass of sensors and computers to do what a distributor and points managed to do all on their own.
    Good luck at Warley!

I love the lock up garages. Looks like there might have once been a house in the gap that may have been destroyed, during the blitz for example, and the garages have been built rather than another house. Nice work as always.

@Iain Botham I daresay, however, as a WW2 documentary maker it was blitz damage that first came to mind.

I love what you’re doing with this bit of scenery but wouldn’t it make more sense for the garage door to be open behind the Capri as opposed to the others been open?...I know if I was working on my car I’d have my garage door open, not the neighbours 😊

I agree with filler. When doing any sort of paving, I prefer it. As you said, you can't always do it, but, wherever possible, it comes across as the best. From Josef Brandl to Luke Towan, it is the choice many pros. The housing looks great, and the play area was the perfect addition. Excellent work, as always.

Great Richard always great to watch and learn from. I had a 2.0 Capri Ghia back in the day as a very young student nurse with one of the first auto-reverse cassette desks. Before that I had a Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with overdrive and a Sprint bonnet. The cam belt went on the way to bowling one night :( I also had an axle break on a MKII Cortina. I can't beleive I used ot change my own break pads back then as I was poor.

When you were talking about 1980s Industrial Town... I had to stop and go listen to Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy. Good times.... Good times. I am compiling a list of "must haves" and "wants" for my next layout. So far, the MagnoRail is definitely on the "must have" list. Maybe just not quite as long as yours.

Your scenics are looking good. I like the car repair idea Preiser made a nice set of tools if you can find them Bausatz Kit 18356. It has hand tools including a wheel brace. The playground figures. My first thought was the elf n safety inspectors making notes of what to take away from the kids. I remember that happening at our local playground in the 80's. They took away the teapot lid roundabout Said it was too dangerous

Though I used to regularly take my son to various model railway exhibitions and had a train as a kid I was never a hobbyist. Yet what amazed me at these exhibitions was never the trains but the terrific attention to detail people made to their surround model's world. For me some of these crossed a line and stopped being the work of obsessive modellers but became art. It's like that here, you want to look through windows, in gardens and oh, and under bonnets! It's a visual feast, brilliant. So why waste an afternoon at the Tate..?

looking good ! idk if it helps (coz' You probably thought about it more then I have ) but there is still heaps more that You could add to this scene ie: street signs , street lights , line markings on the road , man-hole covers (someone below already mentioned that one - kudos ! ) , water drain grills in the road , rubbish bins , letter boxes , phone boxes (remember them ? - lol ) , park benches , advertising billboards , power/phone line poles and cables , wild life (like birds , ally cats , ppl walking their dogs on a leash) , BUT most of all it should be kids in that playground and not business-men . I know , i know - the 'team building exercise' was a joke - but a couple of kids flying a kite could be a good challenge ( trick is finding a very thin & stiff wire ) :)

Ive always enjoyed your opening credits. The idea of overlaying the actual sound of a train passing with a model is just briliant. As if you don't have enough on your plate you can now add the sounds of vhicles passing. One point in the gardens of the homes not all gardens are a lush green carpet there are many gardens with bald patches where very little will grow because of bad light (like under trees or behinde walls) or a high foot traffic.

Was agreeing with you about the pavements before you re-did them, and remembered that way back in the late 60s, we used some Superquick printed pavements (flagstones), which if I remember was just a paper that you pasted down. They lasted very well until the layout was dismantled and thrown out about 5 or 6 years ago. I was amazed when Mr Google told me it's still available! Might be worth a look if there's somewhere you need flagstone pavements?

If you want another broken down/tinkering vehicle, seen as your layout is in the 80's you could get a lambretta (I've seen models of series 1's on plenty of layouts) they would have been 20ish years old by the time of your layout, but the 80's was the "MOD revival" era. Then chop the left hand side panel off (if looking from the front) lay it next to the scooter or propped up a lamp post, and then get a chap kneeling next to it. Wouldn't take much room up and you could even buy a few and have his mates with him.

My tingly senses have been buzzing all week, and yet again here you are haha. Pleasure watching as always, watching the scenery master at work. Definitely the right decision with the paths, and the different garden styles work and contrast well again the other gardens. I like the garages, very stereotypical of the 80s, nice work on the motor too. The other Richard did a real good job with his behind the scenes, I honestly didn't realise how low the layout is, you probably did tell us the measures during the building of the base, but it's only when you see it in perspective does it hit home. Loved the "slave" cameo appearance in one of his videos too, made me chuckle. Keep up the awesome work and always keep it fun and not a UA-cam chore.

Not sure about the UK but in Canada if you had a garage that that there would be 'No Parking' signs all over that alley! Really impressive, what a huge difference a few bushes make to the gardens.
Few quick observations I remember from the 1980s, there would always be a back garden with some improbable ancient vehicle in it like a traction engine or large removals van that you could never work out how they'd got it in.
Maybe one of those lawns could be a bit more yellow? They all look the same. I realise you won't see much of them though.
Love the Capri, needs a trail of oil... Matchbox made a Mk1 Capri with separate engine detail (Corgi did a Mk3) both 1/64 but if you ever do another similar one it might be easier/ quicker to put in an engine from one of those?
Swings need a kid standing on the street not sitting. :-)
    Keep up the great work.

Placing the lawnmower at the point the phone rang and the owner popped indoors? And are 00 gauge cats available? Always a cat on a wall or shed roof sunning itself. Hi Richard. Another great video on Everard junction 😀 It was fantastic seeing the model railway community visiting each other's layouts 👍🏻 I thought it was an excellent idea. Who next.........🤔 Dave class 47 🤣🤣 Keep the good work up looking forward for the next video. Cheers Stevie 😎

Have you considered doing the road junction(s) with the give way on the nearside road rather than a more conventional t-junction? It might help to explain the number of cars choosing to turn around the corner.

The MCW Metropolitan by Britbus has a openable engine cover that could be useful if you don't feel like scratch building. The cover for my Greater Manchester Transport version came off after a cat related incident lol.

Another great video. One thing I thought of watching the end with the 37’s is maybe add some curtains to the windows on the houses. Just an idea. Carry on the good work. Looking forward to the next video 👍🏻

Outstanding work as always. Love the playground - you could sell those!! 😉👍. I’m always a happy chappy once I’ve had my latest fix of Everard Junction. Good luck to you and other the Richard on Sunday. 🤞

If this is the late 80s, would the playground have the rubber ground surface? I think those came later

This part of the layout reminds me of the area around Watford known as Water Lane where I worked as a BT Engineer during the 80's

EverardJunction your branch line could be that of Watford Jnctn to St Albans or the Bakerloo line 3rd rail from Watford Jnctn to Bushey as always your work is excellent, I've been watching your videos since 2010 I think the first one was of you testing the points, I often wonder what would Terry Shorrock layout be like now? Anyway Richard looking forward to the next episode

@@TheAudiostud Wow, now thats going back some. I'm glad the videos have been of interest to you for all this time. Terry checks in with me from time to time. I'm sure he'd have a cracking layout by now but unfortunately circumstances changed for him. I'm lucky to have modeled continuously for such a long time. So many channels have gone over the years.

EverardJunction I bought Terry some loco’s for his layout and I offered to help him prepare his layout for the up coming BRM shoot as my background is in show layouts it’s a great shame what happened to him but as I told my students your colleagues are not your friends and yes I’ve followed you since May 2010 I was recovering from major spinal surgery
