NOTE: This is for people running bare metal OS on old computers NOT virtual machines. FYI VMs can connect to the WIFI from host OS via network adapter. Wifi won’t show on Kali VM. Also, you must have an ethernet connection at the beginning to download the Broadcom driver. Cheers!
This is what worked for me. For Virtual Box, you need to disable bridge connection, and add a USB interface for wifi. Make sure that the Host os, in my case Windows, is not using the interface. Launch the Kali Linux VM and the network manager will detect your wifi interface and be able to join wifi networks. For WSL unfortunately, it uses the host internet and identifies it as an Ethernet. Still couldn't figure out a way to manipulate network connectivity on WSL.
This is like if you have your own Wi-Fi adapter card but you can’t use it because Kali Linux is showing that you’re connected to Enternet(not wireless just connected with the plug) and you’re trying to hack some Wi-Fi with wifite with external wifi adapter card but you don’t have the wlan0/wlan1 showing up. After this, you’re gonna have your adopted showed. I think.

Same issue only I installed on an HP machine, the wifi cards are detected, but will not connect to the wifi. The password is correct as I have other machines that use it. It looks as though it will connect, the icon will show "Wifi Connecting" then will show "Connection failed, activation of network connection failed" Not sure what I am doing wrong but would appreciate the assistance!

So I followed the tutorial and my WiFi symbol and connection options are still missing. I have an adapter and I’m willing to make that work instead but still having problems. I've a dual boot system. One is Windows 10 and the other is Kali. In Windows 10, the WiFi icon is seen and connection works perfect. But when it comes to Kali, the WiFi icon can not be seen. That's my problem. So by installing new driver as you've explained, will I not temper with the WiFi in Windows? I think I will be like overriding the driver that are present that helps connect WiFi in Windows 10

Try copying the git to a usb drive and then putting it on your desktp. I hope this helps!
