The only reason I won't say Alfred is because I hold him at a higher standard than just the Batfamily. He's like the Godfather so he's in his own tier. Grayson is the greatest Bat Family member because he's basically what Batman was meant to be and shown that tragedy doesn't have to define you. However I can also make the argument for Terry Mcginus being the greatest Batfamily member because of the fact that he didn't need to pick up the mantle of Batman after getting his father killer yet, Terry gave the future a Batman when they didn't know they really needed one and unlike Bruce he's a Batman who's able to juggle being Batman and still have a relationship with his lover
Does Terry really count? He is not in main continuity. If he does count he is certainly up there in the ranking. Additionally they are excluding Batman. Which I personally feel should exclude both him and Dick Grayson.
@smargio I get what you're saying but if that case then Jason, Tim, and Damien wouldn't count either because they all have become Batman at least once in the Comics. Which would only leave the women of the bat family and Duke Thomas
6:05 This quote about Jason has always ticked me off because: no Bruce, I'm pretty sure it was his Mom selling him out to the Joker that got him killed, not seeing Robin as a game
If anything I’d say Jason was impatient, he wanted to help people but when he couldn’t he tended to lash out. Honestly he knows Gotham better then Batman as he is a product of its lowest level and grew up on his own. Yet when anyone mentions him as Robin they all think of him as a failure. He was betrayed by his own birth mother and even after being tortured by Joker he still tried to save her in his final moments. His death isn’t on Batman, it’s on his mother and the Joker.
Dont know if I'd give a definitive answer on the greatest but my top 5'd be 1. Cass cain 2. Alfred 3. Pre-N52 Tim Drake 4. Dick 5. Steph brown 5:14 tim is honestly underrated, he was literally trained by lady shiva
I say give it Thomas and Martha Wayne for not only making Bruce, but also staying dead (in the main continuity) for over 80 years now. Giving the whole Bat-Family a reason in the first place for decades now.
I seriously think Damian isn’t that bad. He’s a child that was raised by Talia of course he is going to be ruthless and annoying. I really like his character development in the DCAMU
He isn't, he is overhated (especially by Tim fans) and dcamu doesn't even have alot of his good traits, like his pets. There would be no Batcow without Damian.
@@huntertezz I agree, it’s so sad that he didn’t get any good character development until the last film (Apocalypse War). I really want to see more of him in movies
I have a soft spot for Helena Wayne/Huntress (Batman and Catwoman's daughter). I think she is a great potencial sucessor for Bruce. In my dream world the sucession order would be Tim Drake, then Helena would be his Robin and then became Batwoman and then Terry McGuiness takes over (he would be Helena's son and after she goes missing, he becomes Batman Beyond working with grandfather Bruce). Anyways I would love to know your guys thoughts on either Helena or this sucession line XD
Alfred, Nightwing/Dick Grayson, Jason Todd/Red Hood and Tim Drake (Pre New 52 either as Robin and Red Robin) is one my favorite characters from the batfamily
I think there should be some criteria for the bat-family, like: 1. Being an ally to Batman 2. Knowing Batman's secret identity 3. Knowing some of his secrets (contingency plans, how to operate some of his tech, how to enter the batcave, etc.) 3. NOT being part of another team associated with Bat-family members (The Justice League, Teen Titans, etc) Basically, narrowing it down to Batman, Alfred, the Robins, Batgirl/oracle and Lucius Fox, with Catwoman, James Gordon, Leslie Thompkins and Earl Cooper as honourable mentions, since they all fit some criteria. I also think Harley Quinn being considered part of the Bat-family more recently is stupid, since her alliance has always been to The Joker (Batman's arch nemesis) as a villain or to Poison Ivy/The Suicide Squad as an anti-hero
Honestly I like most of them, but I tend to rarely dislike anything Batman related. I’ll do a top several though: nightwing, Tim, red hood, Barbara, Cass, Azrael(really liked him from 90’s comics), catwoman, batwing(fox version, probably Casue I love Lucius tbh), ghostMaker(really like him and the concept, know he’s divisive among fans) Edit- watched video till the end and since Alfred is included of course I’ll also pick him up
I'm sure that Damien didn't made the list bc He's disrespect Alfred in the "Son of Batman"movie when He said"Where's the other Servant?U have only One Servant?"
When Dick Grayson came up as number two on your list, I was ready to disregard every opinion of yours from here on out. But then it was Alfred as number one, and I was like, okay, you got me. Dick is still number one in my book, but I'll concede that Alfred is an acceptable number one.
Having Alfred on this list, valid and deserved as it is, is downright unfair. He is the one true GOAT above all. Outside of him, I would say Tim is the greatest Robin, and Dick is the greatest leader. Batman recognized that Tim most likely would truly succeed him, while Dick was the ONLY ONE to truly get Damian to work with him. While everyone else was annoyed or flat out pissed off with Damian, Dick showed care, patience, and understanding to the point where Damian got along better with Dick than literally EVERYONE else, including Bruce.
Nightwing (Dick Grayson Damian Wayne (Robin) Alfred Pennyworth Bat 🦇 Girl 👩 (Barbara Gordon) Red Hood (Jason Todd) Tim Drake (Robin) Kate Kane (Bat Woman 🧍♀️) Cassandra Cain Stephanie Brown (Bertinelli) Huntress Bat 🦇 Wing 🪽 (Luke Fox 🦊) Signal
Tim Drake is the best by far. He prevented Batman from being deranged and gave sense to the "Robin is the light batman needs" Idea. When batman died he was the first who decided the matle had to be passed on and he was right. Grayson may have been the original but he just didn't act out when it was necessary unlike Drake who trained himself to be one of the best. Tim didn't even need to be a Robin , unlike Jason or Dick who only had that option , Tim chooses to be a hero because gotham needed one when Nightwing was over bludhaven and Batman was in a bad state. Hell, even Ra's has considered him one of the best detectives and wanted him as succesor.
Nice video. Tho it does suck that one of the few POC of the bat family you place under the dog. Who mostly has popularity from Batman Beyond. I am shocked you didn't put batcow over him.
I know this is comics BUT I hope that with large popularity of mma writers will underst that there is no chance in hell that a character(yes trained) that weight 50 kg when wet could have a chance against a a guy 6.4 ft tall 90+ kg trained in ALL aspect of combat
Steph is my pick. She's not the best at well, anything but she will never give up. Also because she isn't as skilled as most of the family it helps make her stories have more stakes. Seriously if you haven't read her run on Batgirl do yourself a favor
Alfred and Nightwing are definitely the best top picks. Alfred is Bruce's rock and has been by his side since day 1, he's the one who keeps Batman and the Batfamily together. And Nightwing is, according to Batman himself, the better version of Batman, he's Batman's greatest achievement and acts as a symbol of hope for not only for Gotham and Blüdhaven, but for the world. However someone I feel like should've gotten an honourable mention is Jason Todd. Maybe I'm biased but I feel like Jason's story of failure turning to rebirth and reform, and his growth as a character, from sidekick to tragedy, to villain to anti-hero, to redeemed hero makes him a good candidate. My bias would place him in the top 3 but realistically I'd say maybe under or tying with Cass.
For me its nightwing. He changed batmans view for the better, he is a role model for new upcoming heroes, and he is the best fighter (other than bruce)
I wouldnt count Alfred soley because he was there before the Bat was born and all the other sidekicks to come after. He is on a level of his own in regards to the Batman mythos.
Alfred is #1 since there would be no batfamily without him. Oracle is the most impactful member of the batfamily. So she gets #2. Dick is the best singular hero to come from the batfamily so he is 3. (However I might just exclude him because he is also batman.) Tim and Cass would be batman together in my ideal succession. So they are 3 and 4. (Or 4 and 5 if you ignored my earlier comment on dick being excluded.)
Tim was my favorite character in comics until the 1, 2 punch of: 1. New 52 canceling him and making him a total incompetent tool in the Teen Titans. 2. And him randomly being gay now. Let’s forget the decades of him going after the ladies both in action and internal monologue. We have two instances where shippers can imagine him hooking up with Conner and Bunker between panels, so now he’s a big fan of the Grayson.
I dunno, kinda disagree. Every other Batman sidekick has been able to grow into their own identity except Tim Drake and no one knows who Cassandra Cain is unless outside the comics. Commissioner Gordon also deserves a mention at least
Im pretty sure Cassandra Cain has been stated by Bats she could beat him, Tim is the smartest dont kno who said he wasnt lol, and Dick Grayson the best but Ric Grayson😂😂😂 he's the worst
yeah I agree with this list besides the fact that jason isn’t on it, Cassandra I would say shouldn’t be on that list, she doesn’t add much to bruces emotional side but Jason does, I mean bruce has pictured killing the joker before so Jason comes back to the family completely

@ricardochavez2946 but that's the topic of the video.
If written correctly jason would be the best

Alfred, Nightwing/Dick Grayson, Jason Todd/Red Hood and Tim Drake (Pre New 52 either as Robin and Red Robin) is one my favorite characters from the batfamily
