No I didn't use any glue. But after inserting u pin allow it to dry for atleast 1-2 hours so that it will stay intact. Incase you are doubtful you can use Fevibond to make it strong

Air dry clay is made of paper pulp. Hence if you leave it in water it will start absorbing water. Little moisture is fine but if you put in water directly then it will loose it's shape.
