I thought about using mackerel from the international market also. Thanks for proving it works. I thought about mackerel and squid for night fishing at Pleasant.
Mackerel/anchovy work well because they are so oily. That oil can spread out and attract sport fish. Another bait that works well that you may not think works well on these desert lakes is squid. I like squid because its tough an stays on the hook well. I have caught striped bass on it before in AZ. Give it a shot
@@Pete.540 thanks man! This was one of my older videos back when I only only had about 1000 subscribers so it actually performed pretty well for the time 🙏
Perhaps the anchovies may work if you add in a few plain gelatin packets it will stiffen them up as they absorb the water out of them and make them a bit more durable on the hook but not change the smell if you use the plain knox gelatin
My boyfriend and I, we used to make the chicken jello bait but when it's something fishy but not to strong like shrimp we have done plain gelatin with and added in like some garlic and sometimes fish sauce to make them extra oily and stinky but also firm them up so it should in theory work with anchovies MAYBE... we will try it out too see how it goes and report back or if you get to doing it before us let us know how it went or if it helped :D@@FishingWithPorter
Hey!! Almost all of them can be caught in the canals so I’d definitely fish those if you can. Ocotillo has a huge variety of species as well and there’s lots to discover. Thanks for watching!
@@FishingWithPorter thank you any specific canals the ones I've tried in my area aren't the best I'm going to get some mackerel for next time I go I usually target catfish but that's cause I've had the most success with catfish congratulations on the subscriber milestone
@@nathanielmartinez211 thank you I can’t believe I got here so fast! And yes definitely try mackerel also the eastern canal and consolidated canal are my favorites. I’m not sure your area but they’re mainly in the Gilbert area.
Thanks man. Trust me I do, this place has trash cans around so I will always clean up leftover tackle and stuff. I just don’t post in on my videos because people don’t want to watch someone else clean up trash ya know. I appreciate you stopping in
BTW, you would catch a LOT more of those fish you miss if you just freelined the bait, no weight no nothing, and left the bail open on the rod.. saying
@@FishingWithPorter In windy conditions, it's better to use weights because they prevent the bait from being pushed in the direction of the wind. Sometimes, it might land on a rock and get stuck, when you have no weight.
