- This is an extended generative drone piece featuring the Moog Matriarch and Make Noise Strega. The Matriarch is supplying CV and velocity input as well as a randomized LFO into the Strega which is then being fed back into the Matriarch to mix via the stereo delay.
I have been very surprised at how much fun I've had patching the Matriarch and Strega. Probably more fun than I've had with the Subharmonicon.
Still getting a handle on the Strega, but it's an excellent compliment to other modular gear. A lot to be said for the subtlety of a synth that is generally presented as wildly experimental.
Thanks for listening.
Delighted that you have posted this. I've been researching Strega the past couple of days; currently very keen to acquire another semi-modular and this and the O-Coast are in the fray along with the Quarantid Swarm and West Pest! Good to see you using it in this way and the results are compelling. Thanks!
Thanks. I've had a very interesting experience with the Strega so far. I think it definitely excels more as a complimentary module than an isolated voice (unless you're doing wildly experimental soundscapes and/or horror soundtracks). It does a great job adding grit and lo-fi texture to anything you put into it.
The Swarm looks very cool, and every review of the West Pest I've seen makes it appear fantastic for the price. I've never used an 0-Coast, but I imagine it would really open up the Strega in unique ways.
@@riotbell5365 Thanks for the reply! Very similar to how it seems to me.🙏
very dark, really cool drone sound🎼👌
Glad you like it. I've been doing my best to get something gentler and more melodic out of the Strega, but no matter what I do it just wants to sound like the apocalypse...
@@riotbell5365 There's a subtle melody in this that feels very meditative and zen-like in this to me. I imagine the peacefulness of sitting on top of a mountain at sunrise overlooking nature. I can see why it can also be perceived as dark though. I can also imagine that it's the sound of the cosmos, which isn't really dark or light, it's just deep. Music is so subjective.
@@Pharmacymusic1 Thanks for the thoughtful observation. I also like music that tends to be a little rough but has a semblance of beauty.
@@riotbell5365 Me too, but I personally prefer music that is open to interpretation / that can't be labeled as being inherently dark and that's what I'm feeling with this. Great work!
Yes!!🔮🤘🏻man that time mod at the top middle is bonkers. That circuit rips a hole in the spacetime continuum. With the turn of a knob, travel to other existences.
No Heinbach style sliced peppers on the touch plates?
Ha ha. No sliced peppers. It took me forever to figure out that's what was happening in the thumbnail to that video.
The Strega is very cool. Definitely inspired to try one based on all the wonderful stuff you've showcased on your channel. 🙏
